You know how two days ago we told you about THQ canceling Destroy All Humans on the PS3? Due to 'development issues'? Yeah, well, that might not exactly be the case.

Speaking to Eurogamer, a THQ spokesperson said that the latest DAH game would only be an Xbox exclusive in North America - due to the company being unable to finish the PS3 version by the games early release date in that territory.

"Destroy all Humans: Path of the Furon will be released on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 formats on February 13th 2009 across Europe," said the THQ person.

Odd.

<![CDATA[THQ Struggling With PS3 Development, Cancels Destroy All Humans!]]> Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon is now an Xbox 360 exclusive. Shacknews confirmed today that the game that the PlayStation 3 version has been quietly canceled, with THQ spokespeople citing "development issues."

It's not the first time THQ has pointed to problematic PS3 development with Epic's Unreal Engine 3. Late last year, THQ delayed both Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon and Frontlines: Fuel of War, with the senior producer of the latter pointing to Unreal as part of the problem.

Frontlines producer Joe Halper told GameSpot then that "the Unreal Engine has some challenges with the PS3—you'll see with other developers—it's kind of a little late in the game with Epic, which is unfortunate." The PlayStation 3 version of Frontlines was ultimately canceled by THQ in January alongside the PlayStation 2 version of Destroy All Humans!: Big Willy Unleashed.

Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon will ship on the Xbox 360 on December 1 in North America.

<![CDATA[Xbox Originals: Destroy All Humans And Intellivision Reborn]]> This month sees the largest addition to the Xbox Originals program for the Xbox 360 ever, with a more than 61 games hitting the service on September 15th. Of course all but one of those games is part of Crave's Intellivision Reborn compilation - which incidentally failed to spark a rebirth of the Intellivision - but if we're going to get technical about things than none of those even count, having not originally appeared on the Xbox. So, a whole slew of Intellivision Games of dubious quality, and one excellent alien invasion title in THQ's Destroy All Humans, a game that received the coveted Fahey award for Best Use Of Zim in a Non-Zim role.

Thanks to Mustapha for pointing out the new additions.

<![CDATA[THQ Hops On Delay Bandwagon]]> Not content to let EA and Capcom steal their thunder, THQ has delayed three of its upcoming releases, including Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon, de Blob and Frontlines: Fuel of War, citing "quality." The trio have been moved out of the first quarter of 2008, into an unspecified window in the company's 2009 fiscal year. That fiscal year happens to start April 1, 2008, for the record, so don't . Also, in the interest of further clarification, I should mention that only the PlayStation 3 version of Frontlines has been pushed back, with the Xbox 360 edition of the war game still on target. Shocking, isn't it?

Corporate sadness and apologetic execs at the official release.

<![CDATA[Destroy All Hippies!]]>

Appallingly-named game site Computer and Video Games has a preview of the new Destroy All Humans! sequel. DAH!2 (titled "Make War Not Love") is set in the psychedelic 1960's and features multiple settings, including Japan and Britain (with ninjas and secret agents, respectively), and a whole slew of new opponents.

There's mention of Japanese giant monsters Godzilla and Mothra, but I can't tell if they're just using the names in a general sense to refer to big lizards and bugs, or if the actual name-brand monsters are going to appear.

No matter. Here's the important bit:

But, before you wonder how Crypto is going to fight stoners, secret agents and giant rubber monsters, this time he does have an ace card up the sleeve of his spacesuit. Destroy All Humans! Is going multiplayer. The co-op action will allow two players to slog it out together, combining brainwaves to produce fearsome attacks.

Whee! Co-op is absolutely my favorite game feature, and I think it's going to vastly improve the clever (and suspiciously Invader ZIMmy), but slightly monotonous original. Join me, gentle readers, in squealing with glee. And I will join you in cleansing the Earth of those filthy longhairs. Listen to the sounds...of violence.
