Reader Will writes to warn us that updating your Wii quasi-bricks some of the consoles.

After updating his system, every time the Wii tries to connect to WiiConnect24 he gets Error Code: 110213. After doing a little research he found that means he needs to call Nintendo.

so I call them up and I speak to Michael or Dan(Can't remember at this point) and after reading the message to him he says I have a hardware error and will have to be sent a new console...so I'm done with my Wii for a couple days as I can't transfer the saves from Zelda anymore...the new Wii is on the way but will take 3-4 business days...

Anyone else running into this issue? We've received two or three emails about it so far.

<![CDATA[14 Percent of DS Lites Have Cracked Hinges?]]>

Depending on how you define serious, it looks like the DS hinge crack may be bordering on a serious a problem. According to our totally unscientific poll about 14 percent or 171 out of 1,249 of Kotaku readers who own a DS Lite and took the poll have a cracked hinge.

I think anything over 10 percent for a defect is bad. Nintendo really should be making some allowances for returns based on this issue. Hopefully when the things start becoming unhinged, they will.

<![CDATA[One Out of Two Ain't Bad]]> control360.jpg

The real issue isn't whether a launch has problems, it's how a company deals with those problems. Microsoft has faced two major issues with their launch: defects and shortages. While it seems as if Microsoft has a higher number of defective 360s then they want to admit, at least the process of replacing them is painless.

Taco Head reports that he sent off his 360 on Thursday and had the new one in his hot little hands by Monday.

Now if Msoft could just be upfront about their 360 supply we'd be rockin'.
