We broke the news yesterday that the upcoming sequel to popular iPhone role-playing game was hitting later this week for $10, but the developers contacted me last night to let me know they've decided to drop the price initially.

"I've just been informed that Aurora Feint II:The Arena will go out at a sale price of 7.99 that will go up to 9.99 after the holidays."

Good news all around. So now, Aurora Feint II will initially sell for $2 less than Puzzle Quest when it hits the iPhone. Does that make a difference to any of you?

<![CDATA[ Amazon's Gold Box Kick Off With Super Cheap SSBB [Updated] ]]> Amazon deals! No, no, no Amazon Nintendo deals! Today's Amazon Goldbox has kicked off with Super Smash Bros. Brawl, originally priced at US$49.99, but now going for $25.99. Whadda steal. Throughout the day, Amazon will be cutting prices on nine — yes, NINE — Nintendo titles. Expected games and times are:

Current - Super Smash Brothers: Brawl (Wii)

6:00 AM PDT - Yoshi's Island DS

8:00 AM PDT - The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (Nintendo DS)

10:00 AM PDT - Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)

12:00 PM PDT - The New Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo DS)

2:00 PM PDT - Mario Kart Wii

4:00 PM PDT - The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii, presumably, though possibly Gamecube)

6:00 PM PDT - Mario Party DS

8:00 PM PDT - Pokemon Diamond and/or Pearl (Nintendo DS)

Check Amazon during the day to see if these predictions are true — and more importantly, just how low the deals go.

Eds Note: Slight correction: Mario Kart DS, NOT Mario Kart Wii and Pokemon Diamond confirmed, not Pearl as a choice.

Yes, that includes any Playstation 3 they have in stock (including the Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle) and yes a "similar offer" is also available on WalMart.com.

As a side note, the chain will also be selling a number of Blu-ray movies for $15 a pop this week, while supplies last.

<![CDATA[ Sign Up for AOL, Get a Free PS3, Ratchet & Clank ]]>

AOL is giving away a 40GB Playstation 3 with a copy of Ratchet and Clank Future and a wireless Sixaxis controller to customers who sign a two-year contract for AOL Broadband Wireless Plus.

The 24-month contract also requires you to sign up for AOL Talk call plan (not sure what that is) and runs £19.99 a month. Once you stick around for 24 months you can keep your PS3 forever. The only catch, besides the ironclad two-year contract, is that you have to pay a deliver charge of £14.99 for the console, controller and game. Not a bad Christmas present, especially since it comes with Ratchet and Clank.

Judging by the price and location of the source, I suspect this is a UK only deal.

<![CDATA[ Circuit City Game Deals ]]> Man, the game deals are just coming out of the woodwork today. CheapAssGamer informs us that Circuit City has three deals going on this week in the games department. First, Save $20 when you purchase any two Wii games $29.99 and up (Not as good as the TRU deal but it's something). Second, get a $10 gift card with the purchase of Mario Party DS (Is it just me or does the concept of a party game on the DS seem a little odd?). And last but not least, get a $10 gift card when you buy Uncharted: Drake's Fortune for the PS3.

The Uncharted deal is probably the best one of the lot, but while you're there, you might as well peruse the Wii section as well. Never know what will be lurking around in there plus there's liable to be less screaming children there than in Toys R Us.

According to their circular, they are offering Buy One Get One Free on their entire stock of video games. The offer excludes hardware and bundles with a limit of four fee games per customer. I find it a bit odd that there are no next-gen games in the photo, but the ad clearly states "entire stock." If there is a KB in your area, you might want to give a call or stop by this week to see what the selection is like before you head over there at 6am only to find yourself faced with some crappy GBA games.

Purchase your copy of the game that will make you dust off your Wii (in-store) from Toys "R" Us and you'll be rewarded with a $25 dollar gift card. If you are a member of Sam's Club and have any interest in picking up an HD-DVD drive for your Xbox 360, you might want to go check their prices.

It looks like some Sam's Clubs may be having a sale, knocking the price down to a piddly $72. It's not clear why or where the price is being dropped, but it is clear it's not at every Sam's Club, so call first.

Gizmodo points out the sale may be due to certain clubs no longer stocking the device anymore. A reader on our sister site points out that this is a price drop that takes place when the store has two or less of the HD-DVD drives.

So it's not a given, but worth a call if you're on the hunt.

Whoops, those crazy kids at Best Buy always seem to be accidentally selling stuff early. Their latest snafu? An Xbox 360 Wireless Headset.

Reader EZWaffles says he was tromping through his local Best Buy when he noticed a blue shirt walking by toting a stack of the headsets in his arms. The employee told them he was just taking them back to the warehouse because they didn't go on sale until sometime between Nov. 8 and Nov. 12. Rejected, EZW started to head to the exit when he happened to notice a spare wireless headset lying on a display cabinet. He snagged it, ran to the check-out, paid and skidaddled. The price tag was about $60.

He hasn't actually popped it open yet because he's gifting it to his wife today... shhhh, don't say anything.

What else? How about EA's first person shooter Black due Feb. 28 and The Godfather both hitting shelves for $39.99? Sounds good.

<![CDATA[ DS Brain Game Under $20 ]]> Nintendo confirmed today that Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day for the DS will sell for a mere $19.99.

No word on how much the sequel, Big Brain Academy, will cost. I think Nintendo is going to lowball the first one to get us all hooked and then crank up the price as the sequels hit. By the eighth title we'll all be handing over our souls for that sweet taste of brain training.

<![CDATA[ EA Cuts Price on Current-Gen Games ]]> streetguy.gif

The Street is reporting that Electronic Arts has slashed the price of current generation console titles by $10 to $20.

Troy Wolverton reports that the price cuts were a reaction to weak video game sales in recent months and could very well be the start of a trend. He went on to quote one (shudder) analyst who says that he expects more publishers to follow in EA's footsteps.

The story goes on to list some amazing price drops including EA's Medal of Honor: European Assault which dropped to $19.99.

Wow, that's a great deal.

<![CDATA[ $99 DS Returns to Target ]]> Looks like that Internet price typo for the Nintendo DS we reported on a few weeks back has shown up again, this time in print.

targetadds.jpg

A reader says the most recent Target catalog he received in the mail lists the DS selling for $99. He took it to his local store and they were sold out so he went to Circuit City, ad in hand, where they price-matched the portable no questions asked. Time to start checking your mail.

<![CDATA[ Acclaim Auctions Off Game Rights ]]> bloodtv.jpg

The last vestiges of Acclaims impact on games is up for sale. The down and out company is auctioning off the rights to all 218 of their games. This would be sad if it weren't for the fact that so many of the titles have the words "Mary Kate and Ashley" in them. If I had any clue what the hell I would do with it, I'd out bid the $5,100 offer for the Smash TV rights. I'll buy that for a dollar!
