Having a real girlfriend? Priceless.
For some things there's PayPal, for everything else (sex) you need some confidence, a shower, aaand to gtfo of your house.
I know I'm old but there are people out here in the world that like this stuff? I mean you can't like get a girl or a wife or something other than this? I'll say it, if your older that 15 and find this cool or sexy just stop, get some help and find you a real person. Your really missing something in your life. Or your also really into the Furries scene which please find some help.
@bigd7387: It's nothing to do with that; honestly I collect figures and I see them as art, and to me that's what they are.
Not all of my figs are stuff like this, only some - but the quality and the craftsmanship is what I appreciate, in addition to the aesthetics.
I also have a current girlfriend, have had many, am not a virgin, and am quite older than 15.
A decade older, in fact.
I have an awesome career in the games industry (which is on hold due to the sorry state of the economy, I'm in business right now but it's not the long-term plan), a working car, and a solid sense of distinction between fantasy and reality.
Don't go making blanket statements about groups you don't understand. If you don't like them, don't buy them - but don't jump the shark to judge those of us who do
You know, every time I see sexy figurines on kotaku, I think, 'How much is it?' and then I find out that figurine collecting is really expensive, and also I become self-conscious about just how creepy it would be to have Kasumi posed like that on my desk. D:
Now if it were Master Chief posing by the poolside like that, bikini slung low around his armor... oh man, money would be no object! XD
Damnit, after buying one of these damned things (which are bloody expensive) I promised myself I would not buy another one ever, as they look so pretty and bou-sof-roun-delicio-nice! But you can't do anything with them. But for some reason I really like Kasumi... But no, no no non no no nein! I don't care how much I love Kasumi, I'm not going to buy another of these extremely overpriced things!
@Cptn.PaxtonAstypalaea(Corsair): 100 bucks is premium price. I've only ever spent that much on two figures, and I was very pleased with how they turned out. If the actual retail figure looks as good as this, then I may just buy another DOA statue (the other one being the Kokoro figure in the same line).
@Shaban12si: Maybe his time away from Tecmo has taught him some humility? I've always thought he was an ass, but yeah, as you say, he came off as a pretty cool dude here.

He's actually not being a jack-ass in this interview, maybe he was destined to go out on his own. I like how he asks about his former team's homelife in relationship with breast physics. That's perfectly legitimate question, perhaps Itagaki is becoming a Gaijin after all. I also like how he relates the Japanese game industry to Japan's situation 400 years ago... sheltered from most trade and western influence. Am I warming to the most hated man in video games?
@AlucardsQuest: You know you hit rock bottom if you end up loving Uwe Boll movies (in general) so no by warming up to Itagaki-san does not make you weak.
Itagaki: What sort of stupid general would give his enemy information on his troop strength? You'd better go back and read up on Rommel, AKA "the Desert Fox."
I personally dont see a point to him refering to go and read up on Rommel.
Though everything else in the interview was highly amusing! And do agree with him wanting to snap the DS in half due to Sandy the Ganguro fairy.
@Witzbold: You'd have to admit that his interview always have that something special that keeps the readers reading. However after processing everything in is a different matter.
Did he seriously say that he wanted to do something "totally new, completely unrelated to anything I've done before. Not any part of any existing franchises."
And then go on and talk about how he's interested in WWII and doing something there?
I am now eagerly awaiting for a paradox to come and eat Itagaki.
Hi Ashcraft! Might want to make a slight change in the article if you have time.
The tank is the Type 90.

For anyone curious about what the top picture is its the Type 92 Mine Clearing Vehicle. It fires a rocket across an area with mines and attached to the wire is explosives that is laid out then set off to detonate any possible explosives in the area. Pretty interesting stuff.
Heres a vid for those wanting to see it in action.
Am I the only one that thinks that missle looks as though it's on a string, and keeps imagining it hitting the end of said string, and then smooshing into the ground with lots of stars and explosions?
@Pentex: That is most definitely NOT a TOW. A TOW is small enough to be man portable (although you need to put it on a tripod to fire it) and that thing is mounted on some sort of tracked vehicle. Not saying TOW are not mounted on vehciles, but they are usually supplimentary weapons on large tracked vehicles and nowhere near the size of a main gun.
It really is a strange piece of hardware. The guided missiles that most western countries use (MLRS) are gyro guided, not wire guided. Additionally a cable big enough to show up in that photo would be fairly thick. I doubt they have enough to keep it attatched all the way to the target.
I'm going to guess that the wire is how the missile connects to the fire control, and how the missile gets its targeting data. It will most likely disconnect shortly after launch. Alas, I don't know much about Japanese missiles, other than the PATRIOTs they bought from us.

The fourth option is to have a girl for a best friend who also loves playing video games.

And not just because she plays games. :-P She's one of the sweetest, most loving people I've ever met in my life. May we all be similarly blessed.

@Tacticalspoon: Tacticalspoon, its a rocket system that works like the M58 MICLIC.
The vehicle if you are curious is a Type 92 (MCV)
