Am I the only person who actually likes invertebrates (insects, spiders, worms, etc)? Yeah, I am a biologist whose main interest is invertebrates but still, I didn't really think I would see so many comments against my favorites animals.
I love the idea of this game. This game, if at all decent, will be the final push necessary to get myself a Wii.
Insects are nothing short of amazing. A game about insects that actually treats them as insects (not you, Spider), is practically groundbreaking in scope.
I have to wonder why they chose the Wii and not the PS3/360.
I own a Wii, and I do love it, but I feel like a game like this that relies heavily on atmosphere and realism could be a lot better on the more powerful consoles.
I'll still play it, and probably love it, but I can't help feeling like it'll be a big missed oppurtunity.
@DraconisXC: As a kid, I went hiking during the 17-year cicada season. They were everywhere. I've never been hiking since.
I'm living mosquito bait. I cannot leave the house on a beautiful day without getting at least one new mosquito bite.
I hate bugs with a passion. If I see a bug, I will smash it, then grind it. If it touches me, I will freak out until it is gone. Should I ever encounter an bug that is actually dangerous, I will panic, and probably shriek like a little girl.
However, I recognize the fact that these bugs cannot physically touch me, as they aren't real. Since they are not real, they remove everything I hate about bugs (Their existence, proximity, and chance of physical contact) while leaving everything I like about them (Their appearance, bug fights).
(Note when I use the word bugs, I also include Arachnids and insects sake of brevity.)
@DraconisXC: I was in Greece, at an abandoned archaeological site, during a cicada year.
I thought there was a tree with leaves. I walked near to it. The leaves got up and swarmed me. A cicada is a big bug, and a swarm of them rushing you packs quite a punch.
Strangely, this created more an adoration of the bugs than a fear of them.
Wow, an actor extolling the virtues of his latest work? Unheard of.
This is like the "behind the scenes" on DVDs where the actors say how great the director was, giving them so much freedom and always open to collaboration and allowing them the freedom the explore the characters... making them feel so "safe"... blah blah blah.
Actors saying things means NOTHING... they lie for a living people!

I might get this game if I ever can find money. It'd be cool to be a spider. I'd get to see the newspaper from the spider's POV!

sounds interesting, but probably would be more convincing if you had to use 4 wii-motes and nunchuks to get the full effect of being a tarantula.
i.e. 1 for each limb

It's surprising that a game like this can make some people feel uneasy, but they're pretty much unaffected by games like Resident Evil or Dead Space.

When I was out running last year I had a bee fly underneath my tank top. That was unpleasant.

I scream like a little girl whenever I see a spider (or centipede) across the room.
