I just bought Bioshock, Dead Space, and Mass Effect today as part of Gamestop's buy-two-used-games-get-one-free sale. (Grand total: $39.40. Not bad, if I do say so myself.)
I won't have time to play any of them for a few weeks due to academic stress, but I had no guarantee, when I asked, that Gamestop would be repeating this offer around Christmas. I already played Bioshock and loved what I played of that, so here's to that and the other two games.
@dracosummoner: Excellent choices on all of those. I never sold my copy of Bioshock, loved Dead Space and have been replaying ME in preparation for ME2. Have fun with your new-used games.
You know the really weird thing about the image though? It's not looking through the Grill of Isaac's Mask, it's looking through the Metal view blocking parts....
@Manuel Calavera, Reaper Supreme: Maybe, but I don't think the Cameras were all along those metal bits. Also the shape of the grill kinda suggests to me is is Supposed to be viewed through (there's a couple "holes" about where the eyes should be), suggesting that is where the camera placement would be...
@Cptn.PaxtonAstypalaea(Corsair): They're way too thin, though, and it would make blasting legs off of skittering monstrosities pretty difficult, nevermind fixing complicated machinery on the ship (which is the suit's apparent purpose)
Dead Space is to horror games what Uncharted is to action games in my opinion, taking heavy influences from all of the bests in each genre but making them feel fresh and exciting again, absolutely fantastic.
I wonder if we'll be on another ship, or on a planet base this time, or maybe everything's went to shit and a marker somehow got to Earth creating an alien zombie ridden Earth... So awesome...
I can only hope that Dead Space is longer than the first one, as I beat it in a quick 8 hours. And I'm really hoping for more variations in the enemies, different mutations & creatures and whatnot. Dead Space rocked my socks, but for some reason ... the replayability just wasn't there for me and I parted with the title not too long after buying it on the day of release. I now regret parting with it, and have been considering downloading it as it's $19.99.
@d_r_e:
"And I'm really hoping for more variations in the enemies"
Yup same here.
In 1st one it felt really cheap the way they simply painted "old" models black to create more dangerous xenomorphs at the end of the game.
That didnt work well for me, it just killed some of the immersion.
Otherwise it was a superb survival horror game. Cant wait for DS2.
I just hope that it will stick to it's roots and not going like RE series into arcade mode, or like Silent Hill into well... shit mode.
You know, for a game titled "Dead Space", there really was a lot of alive shit coming after me trying to dismember me.
Maybe someone should slap the truth in advertising act on them and force them to recall the game. At least title it "Mostly Dead Space" or "Some of the People are Dead Space but the Things That Kill You are Very Much Alive (or at least re-Animated) Space".

It will ONLY make a sound IN the solid object it hits, but it would be inaudible because space is more or less a vacuum. No gaseous particles means nothing for the sound wave to travel through.
@AssButt: Nice, but the details above the head distract from it. It took me a while to figure it out before I realised there was Max's head at the bottom. When you see that, it's good, but unfortunately you don't focus on the bottom with the image, so it can take a while to get.
@Nyctus: But who will get the Kill? I mean, the Predator is already locked on, but the Alien is already in the perfect location to just jump down and perform the kill. #halloween
The Eddie Riggs one looks pretty cool.
The Dead Space one is kinda cheating, it's not all pumpkin....
Also we got the Halloween maps on our server up n running now. gonna have to tweak it so it favours them maps. [steamcommunity.com]
So Halloween comes early tomorrow if you all wanna give your new TF2 a shot, we gained 50 new members today with the £/$ sale. #halloween
@MrBrau: Er, traditionally, you cut off the top, scrape out all the insides, and place a light source inside (a candle or small bulb). You can buy carving tools, and there are some pretty precise knives that can be used. Stencils help, I'm sure.
Sephiroth up there almost looks painted on, though.
