New Xbox Experience Site Launches
Check your email, you probably just got a notice from Microsoft inviting you to a site demonstrating the new Xbox Live experience. No, a release date is not specified. The site features examples of the content and features you can expect once it does arrive, presented in a simulation of the new dashboard. There are videos on avatar creation and interaction with your friends (some of which we've already seen), and another touting its online entertainment capabilities. Everything has the bigger-better-more company shine on it. The addition of the Inside Xbox channel looks intriguing, but few specifics beyond the teasers offered. More » -

How to Build Your Own Xbox 360 Avatar
If you were worried about how the Xbox 360 avatar creation system was going to work, don't fret. Major Nelson has made this video showing us what we can expect when the fall update hits. It actually looks really solid with some very amusing animations. Now the only question is when can we expect to be makingMii's quirky representations of ourselves? Something tells me it might be in November, but hey, you never know. More » -

Xbox 360 Fall Update Coming Out In November
RPG-TV got a briefing last week on the Xbox Live Experience and was told that the Fall dashboard update would be hitting in November, i.e. this fall. Makes sense to me. Before I start sounding too glib, while the fall update has routinely landed in November, an update of this size could have theoretically been pushed back to later in the year. So it is nice to have Microsoft telling some on the record that we can expect our sexy new look and deeper features in three months or so. Preview of New Xbox Experience + LIPS [RPG-TV] -

Watch The New 360 Dash (And A Larry Hryb Tracksuit) In Action
You've seen images, but for the dim-witted, images may not be enough to get across just how the 360's new dash update is going to work. So here's a couple of videos, showcasing not only what it looks like in motion, but what Microsoft's Larry Hryb looks like in a snappy Xbox 360 track-top. There's another longer, drier, more informative clip after the jump if sitting through Microsoft's own special brand of miscued lifestyle commercials isn't for you. More » -

Xbox Fall Update: Coming This December?
Buried with the news of the Xbox 360 Family Timer was an interesting date: early December. That's when Microsoft says the timer will be available on the Xbox 360. Here's a safe bet: The timer is part of the Fall Dashboard update, which means we won't be seeing the update until early December. It sure seems like Microsoft is getting dangerously close to making this a "winter update"! No news yet on the other features we will see in the update, but my sources tell me we will be hearing more about the update in the next week or so. But let's play a game, shall we? How many more PS3 firmware updates do you think we will see before the Xbox Fall Update actually arrives? -

Fall Dashboard Update Images
Whether Microsoft finds any significance in the date October 31—it's the day J Allard first got laid, y'all!—is unknown, but the Fall Dashboard update is going to be dropping first thing Tuesday. We heard from our secretaries who heard from GameFront who heard from Famitsu that the update brings the long awaited 1080p support, a Xbox Live Arcade redesign, a Marketplace work-over and 80 more bullet points in some guy's Powerpoint presentation. Read part of the the list here. More » -

E306: AOL Makes a Game Dashboard
Microsoft may have announced their intention to integrate your PC, mobile phone, Xbox 360, and subdermal temple transciever into one massive gaming/messaging transfer station, but AOL didn't get where it is today by dropping out of saturated markets. The AOL game dashboard, called PlayLink, will integrate AIM with game forums, messages, matching, downloads, and other add-ons necessary for the continuing existence of the modern gamer. No partnerships with publishers have been announced yet, but PlayLink should be rolled out in a couple months, according to Director of Industry Relations Carter Lipscomb. More » -
