This game sure does see a lot of marketing... but I still don't find myself interested. I'm actually a bit less interested because of all this. I hope I'm wrong about my impressions and it turns out to be an enjoyable game.
@D-K, stubbed his toe..*swears*: Facebook is supposed to allow you to connect to people with common interests through your concentric social rings. Not be a creepy stalker.
In other words, you start with the people you know. As you add the people you know you begin to see the people THEY know, connect with them, so on and so forth.
@Norellicus: I see, I hadn't realized i couldn't just search for people with common interests, i actually have to join certain groups and wade to 100+ pages of dudes, illegals and people nowhere near my country.
@D-K, stubbed his toe..*swears*: Facebook is not a dating site. You are supposed to add your current friends so that you can stay connected with them. If that's not how you're using it, then you are using it wrong.
I can't quite figure out why, precisely, they're trying to offend part of their audience. I mean. They are trying to offend Christians, right? Between the fake protest and this?
I honestly do not get it. Do they think religious folk don't play games or have something against Dante's Inferno (the poem)?
@FP_slomo788: Yeah, me too. If anyone thought it was legitimate I'd have to accuse them of being retarded. I thought it was just a funny thing some guys made for the sake of itself.
Anycase, if you really were making a marketing message I'd actually rather purchase a product that's more tangentially related to the story line than something that just takes it and translates it into a made for DVD cartoon gore fest.
And if you were serious about getting a bunch of acclaimed creators onboard to create their own unique vision, why not have them each envision a different circle of hell. Or of course, you just have them create stories inside your version of the 9 circles. 9 teams for 9 circles, makes perfect marketing sense to me. And it would probably have resulted in a more interesting product.
@Ethereus: It's like a marketing agency where the artists run the asylum rather than the stats folks. I really doubt the game itself will explore renaissance Catholicism's conceptions of sin and Dante's response. I am curious about how the game will present the virtuous pagans - a thorny issue in Dante's time.
I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel, too: EA/Bioware presents Milton's Paradise Lost: a prelapsarian RPG.
@Inkmonkey: I think the fact that it is going to be violent/gory/gruesome and based off a literary "classic" makes them think they have to sell it more. From all I've seen it looks like they've been working really hard on this game.
@GodhandX: Slight correction, The Inferno is a classic - no quotes needed - and the poem itself is pretty gory, at least it was for its time. Secondly, it's really only based on the mythos which predated The Inferno itself.
@Bouchart: Was it really necessary to insert some annoyed post in reply to every thread about how you don't like a game that's not even released yet?
@Inkmonkey: If you believe that aggressive marketing makes a game crap then Brutal Legend and MW2 must be crap on golden platters.
Manglobe is win, though Ergo Proxy was rather poor by their standards ( Samurai Champloo, Michiko to Hatchin).
I'm pleasantly surprised by this, though. I expected an American company would try to tap Gonzo for an animated tie-in, because if you want to really rape historical source material, Gonzo is the studio that does it the best (or worst)!
@mintycrys is HOT for Bayonetta: Really? Hmm, Samurai Champloo still hasn't done it for me yet. I absolutely loved Ergo Proxy though. Maybe I need to try harder for Samurai Champloo and is it just me or does Mugen seem very similar to Spike from Cowboy Bebop? Just more hot headed... #dantesinferno
@Paul Usoro: Come on man... Ergo Proxy was absolute shit, you know the studio was playing around with us when they had that episode which was staged like a game show. Everything up to that point was entertaining but that part and the rest of the series was delirious at best. #dantesinferno
@SumUp4U: I dunno, there was just something I enjoyed about Ergo Proxy.
Ah, I remember that episode! Yeah, they were really playing around with us at that point, although I was so sure there was some significance to that episode...meh, can't remember.
Ergo Proxy did have a crazy twisted plot but I still enjoyed it for some reason... #dantesinferno

1 thing bothers me..
How the hell do you find people on it? The search funtion doesn't search at all, and i can't find girl gamers on it.
Yeah, sad.. screw that, somebody better fork over some girl gamers pronto.

It should be easier to search for more "ethnic surnames" than generic names like Nguyen and Smith....

the netherlands-woman-18_30-single or something..
WHY WOULD I WANT TO LOOK UP PEOPLE I KNOW ALREADY!?
I hate it now...

If I choose to utilize this, i'm not simply using it wrong, I'm using it differently.
But I guess i can't complain about a broken search function then.. ah well..
