    @rotphungte: Stuart Campbell is.. a strange person, and no mistake.

    Whilst a lot of his early journalistic work consisted of him being over-opinionated, but usually right far more than he was wrong, somewhere down the line in the last 10-15 years or so, he became a parody of himself.

    Almost like a journalist version of a "heel" wrestler - I'm pretty sure he gets some kind of perverse satisfaction out of the rise he gets out of people. A professional troll, as it were.

    I haven't taken a single word he's said seriously in years.

    You don't remember Pet Shop Boys covering this song and U2 responding with "What Have I don't to Deserve This?"

    interesting English dilemma has just come about. The song I am quoting is called "What Have I don't to Deserve This?" so not sure how to finish off with a question mark and quote on that sentence...

    @TT: You finish it off with a question mark. The punctuation afforded to a former title has no bearing on the sentence in which it is being included. Admittedly, it looks quite redundant in this situation, but, if memory serves, this is what Strunk & White have mandated.

    That is, if you can even be convinced that such irrelevances actually matter beyond the classroom.

    Also, is it really all that surprising that someone has forgotten the antics of U2? All I do is try to forget them.

    yes, I dont think U2 said that but there was a silly joke like that at that time in The Face or some British Magazine. I was just being stupid anyway. I like the Pet Shop Boys version better anyway. The Unforgettable Fire is a very difficult album to listen to.

    @Arleas: They were the authors/editors of The Elements of Style. (Although they are both dead, Strunk for quite some time I believe, revised editions continue to use their names).

    If you are unfamiliar with that, it's pretty much the definitive text on English grammar and written form for high school and college students since around the latter half of the 20th century.
