The Munchables has managed to escape my radar up until now, having missed McWhertor's trailer post last month, as well as the first batch of screens. How I could have missed a picture of a pink puppy head wearing 3D glasses is completely beyond me. All I can say is now that I've gotten a taste of the eating space pirates to grow in order to eat bigger space pirates game play, I'm going to keep my eyes on the game until they drip from their sockets, melted by sheer adorability.

The Munchables is due out on May 26th.

<![CDATA[THQ Enters Chinese Import Scene With Dragonica Online]]> THQ kicks off their joint venture with Chinese online game operator ICE with Dragonica Online, with a new website and new screens filled with near-fatal cuteness.

First announced in September of last year, Dragonica Online is to be the first game released on the THQ*ICE online gaming platform. Originally released in China as Dream Dragon, Dragonica Online is a fast-paced, free-to-play, 3D side-scrolling action game, with sickeningly cute graphics and a humorously deadly skill system.

"Our new online game platform integrates ICE's online operating experience with THQ's product development and retail publishing expertise to develop and deliver innovative game content to consumers," said Eddie Chen, CEO of THQ*ICE. "Dragonica Online exemplifies the original and entertaining casual MMO experiences that we plan to offer via our platform and we believe its distinct perspective and pacing will excite a broad audience of online action fans."

It's adorable, but then most massively multiplayer online games out of China are. The proof is in the pudding, so to speak, and players interested in dipping their fingers in said pudding can sign up at the website to get in line for beta testing, which kicks off this summer.

<![CDATA[Guinea Pig Rocks The 360]]> Today is turning out to be a very stressful day for me for various reasons, and when I have a stressful day going on, only one thing can help calm me down. Animals playing console games. Kotakuite Taylor comes to the rescue!

guineapig360.jpg

I recently purchased 2 guinea pigs. One of them escaped recently and I was amazed at what she ran straight to. She then proceeded to pwn me in the Halo 3 Beta.

Well I suppose there are worse creatures(so NSFW) to be beaten in Halo by.

As an owner of two guinea pigs, I'm astounded that one relatively new to a house would sit out in the open like that. They are extremely skittish critters...just look at its eyes. She's terrified. The only way one of my guineas would sit like that is via liberal use of crazy glue, and even then I'm positive I'd be left with chewed-off paws perma-glued to the analog sticks within minutes. There you go, cuteness and a mental-picture for the anti-cute to hold onto, all in one post. Something for everyone!

<![CDATA[Gallery: MySims Devours Your Soul]]> What better way to brighten your day than browsing through a gallery of over 50 new shots from EA's cutesy Sims makeover for the Wii, MySims? It's all the fun of having a water balloon fight, visiting a trendy sushi restaurant, having a picnic with friends, firing off a rocket, and gardening, all rolled into one big happy place.

The cuteness...it is like a fine wine. The game will come out and we'll all take it home, intoxicated by its bubbly personality and charm. By the next morning we'll all be eight year old girls. I've already caught myself drawing unicorns on my notebooks. We must stop MySims before it's too late!

<![CDATA[Clip: Sam and Max Episode 5]]> Sam and Max Episode 5: Reality 2.0 has the potential to be the most exciting installment of the series yet. While I caught a glimpse of it at the Sam and Max GDC party, the official trailer manages to walk a weird line between humorous and disturbing that you just don't get from being shown a demo while wondering when the food is going to show up.

For those of you so inclined, I already checked and NauseatinglyCute.com is already taken, and by a bunny no less. I feel somehow betrayed.

<![CDATA[The Wii Reaches ALL Demographics]]> I was sitting in my living room last night when the Zelda itch hit me. My girlfriend was still at work, so it was safe to pull out the wiimote and nunchuck, or so I thought.

Et tu, Rufus? So not only is my girlfriend bogarting the Wii, now my little fuzzy partner in crime was coveting it as well? I mean, I know I could certainly take it from him with nothing more than a few scratches, but the sheer cuteness formed a solid wall that would only allow through air and camera flash. It's a phenomenon you really have to experience for yourself to appreciate.

This started me thinking. What if the appeal of the Wii went so far beyond the standard video gaming demographic that it effected non-humans? An interesting theory, but I would need a guinea pig to test it out.

guineapig.jpg
As you can see, Sheba here seems unaffected by the introduction of the wiimote into her natural habitat. In many other animals this would be a negative result, but guinea pigs are convinced that most everything is either delicious hay, and therefore tolerable, or a Peruvian, therefore life-threatening. The wiimote definitely falls into the 'hay' category.

KOTAKU FUN FACT! - Peruvians eat upwards of 22 million guinea pigs a year!

Mmmmm.

Anyway, I took the hay verdict as conclusive proof and rushed into the living room to watch for that whacky old guy's free government grant money infomercial and have Rufus sign release papers, when I noticed this:

Well there goes that theory. I suppose I could have just lost the PS3 evidence and published my findings to suit my beliefs, but then I'd be no better than every two-bit scientist that ever published a skewed violent games turn your children into demons report. My cat isn't a Nintendo fancat. He's just a lazy all-round gamer like me only fuzzier, who dreams of having opposable thumbs like the big mammals. Judging by the lack of a 360 controller, he's also most likely Japanese. You learn something new every day.

<![CDATA[Play Loco Roco Now!]]>

The official Loco Roco site uses a clever Flash navigation scheme to get around. The game's simple controls—simply using the L and R buttons to revolve the world and jump—are also used to get to downloads, screenshots and more.

And that soundtrack! It's so deliciously cute!

If you didn't make it to E3, this is as close to a demo as you're going to get until the game ships this September. Wait. This September?! What the hell is taking so long, Sony?
