Between Street Fighter, World of Goo (hooray 5 dollar sale on Steam!) and a renewed interest in TF2 after the Scout update, I'm not gonna have the time to check these out yet. Will probably check them out when things slow down, especially Peggle. Heard nothing but great things about that game.
@CoyoteGamer: That Steam deal is a steal for such a great game as World of Goo. It's a game I'd love to see and would buy again if it appeared on XBLA.
@KaneRobot: Do a google search on "Desktop Tower Defense" and you'll find that you can play an excellent example of the genre for free using your web browser.
There are at least a few great TD games on the iPhone such as Fieldrunners and 7 Cities. This? This is not one of them. There's nothing inherently wrong with a Final Fantasy TD game. But the implementation for this one (UI, graphics, everything) is just so bloody awful.
I' m glad Square is testing the waters on the iPhone, even if the debut isn't stunning. Eventually something from them will be well worth it on the platform.
Puzzles and word games are usually fine, but anything else that has any real action in it is more of a chore than fun.
Rolando, as fun as it is, becomes frustrating after a while because of frustrating combinations I have to sometimes put my wrists/fingers in. Not to mention any game that I have to touch to manipulate the actual character (instead of an on screen control like Pacman, for instance) ends up being more distracting because you are covering the screen with your finger.
I was really excited about gaming on it at first. Especially after seeing what it is capable graphics wise, but now I am really turned off by it. I'm most likely going to give up on iPhone gaming unless something truly amazing (control wise) comes along.
Japanese developers have too much fun making games for cellphones. Do people actually pay for this kind of stuff? I -never- play on either my cell or mp3 (mp3 with touch screen!) so I have a hard time seeing there being a hardcore cellphone-player market to warrant the more absudly worked out titles.
Japan is pretty much 90% a commuter society. Everybody takes the train & or the bus, so these games do very will in Japan where it's very common NOT to drive a car.
@Mact: The iPhone doesn't use Flash for anything. It uses a complicated form of C++ with several layers of programing. You are welcome to try again however.

I'm an unabashed FF/Squeenix fan, but I'm going to have to give this one a pass. :(

This is really putting the iPhone on track to be a legitimate gaming device.

By having flash games with an overlay of a popular franchise?

Why not exactly? It's a young platform ,but some great games (ex Aurora Feint,Colors) are as good as ds and psp games.
