Halo, So Pretty

Purdy! These heavily PhotoShopped Halo pictures are the handiwork of flickr user joshuadamon. Not sure if they're just in-game screen grabs that have been reworked or pics of Halo toys that have been PS'ed or a combination of both. What we are sure of is that these sure are beautiful.

Lars Ulrich Ponders Guitar Hero Signing Coolness

Rolling Stone magazine caught up with Metallica last week at their Record Store Day signing event in California, where they interviewed drummer Lars Ulrich, demonstrating the sort of hard-hitting interview questions that have made Rolling Stone a shining example of everything good about pop culture journalism.

You signed a lot of Guitar Hero controllers. Is that cool?
In response, I'd imagine Ulrich propped his leg up on a table and scratched his chin thoughtfully, pondering the level of coolness he'd experienced on that day.
It's fucking way cool.
Whoa. You just don't get that deep with People magazine...people. Then Lars went on to ruin the illusion by making a valid, heartwarming point.
Our kids love playing Guitar Hero and Rock Band. It's awesome. There's something really positive coming out of video games. It's so cool to sit there and have your kids talk to you about Deep Purple and Black Sabbath and Soundgarden.
Wow, he's right. That is fucking way cool.

The Coolest Scary Mean Mom Gets Revenge

Being a kid is hard. Being a parent? Harder. When a 13 year-old Virginia kid intentionally broke the vacuum cleaner so he could skirt his chores and play Xbox 360, his mom took action. Mean mom action. She tells our sister site Gizmodo:

My 13 year old managed to break the vacuum....thinking it would release him from that duty. He also has a list of other chores that were TYPED up for him to do Friday afternoon....one thing on the list was done...mind you these are simple things...empty the trash, clean your room, etc. Then I go thru the cookies on his computer and find out he has been checking out porn sites. Now there is a password so he can't even get on and his my-space page has a picture of snoopy on it now. Apparently I'm the meanest mom in the world, were his words.

I'm a single mom. I can't let them walk over me or I might never get up.

Applause. Our advice, kid: Always listen to your mom and always clean out your cookies.

Budget Japanese Sega Shirts (The Exchange Rate Sucks)

Sega has teamed up with Japanese clothes retailer to make, you guessed it, Sega Uniqlo shirts. There are Virtua Fighter, House of the Dead and Sonic shirts. I quite like that hedgehog one right up there. The shirts cost US ¥1,500 (US $14.63). Oh geez, just look at that exchange rate. So sad. The shirts though, they're pretty cool.

The Official Seiko Richard Garriott Space Watch

Ultima and Tabula Rasa creator Richard Garriott loves two things: Space and rattails. Man not only has his own sputnik, but his own rattails. This October, Garriott and his flowing locks will be blasting off to the International Space Station. He plans on making a spacewalk, which would make him the first civilian with rattails to do so. Historic! To commemorate the event, Seiko is creating a titanium spring-powered "Spring Drive Spacewalk" watch, which will be limited to 99 pieces only — at a price! But really, can you put a price tag on a Richard Garriott watch? Yes, yes you can.

Mini Bash's DS Brought to Life

Someone has taken Mini Bash's origami DS and made it real! Over at Newgrounds, artist zikayn writes:

I was bored over Easter and after reading something about a kid making his own DS out of paper, I decided to try and make one of my own, surprisingly it actually started working...

Mini Bash response: "Why does his move, but mine doesn't?" Because zikayn is a witch, that's why.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Characters Re-imaged As Anime

Characters from Super Smash Bros. Brawl re-envisioned as characters from doujin visual novel Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. Not all the Brawl characters, but enough to satisfy our curiosity. This, right here, is truly great stuff. Bravo.

151 Pokemons (Let Me Show Them To You)

We don't like posting auctions here. Because some other asshole makes money, and not us assholes. But for this we'll make an exception. Over at Yahoo! Auctions, one individual is auctions off 151 Game Boy Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition and Japan only Pokémon Green. These are the first generation Pokeé+mon. And 151 cartridges, that's a whole Pokeédex worth! The seller points out that the non-mint cartridges don't have instruction booklets or boxes, are grimy and scribbled on and make good dominos.

Meat Bun Chest On Impressions

Like clockwork, today a postal man came to my house, knocked on my door and delivered these Meat Buns. Hooray! Tried them both on and they so fit. Besides obvious things like that the printing is super high quality and the shirts feel delightful, blah, blah, BLAH, there were other things. Like, take a look at the shirt condoms the shirts come in.

Oh. Wait. Sorry.

Anyway, hit the jump for two more pics and zero disgusting shirt sex puns. Promise.

This PSN Ad Is Beautiful. Really.

Nice ad alert! Haven't seen this one before. It's a PlayStation Network ad by Terry Hall. It's not annoying either! Which for an ad these days, says heaps. Lovely Spot [Motionographer Thanks, Jean!]
