<![CDATA[Dragon's Lair Giveaway: We Have a Winner]]> Congratulations to Michael N. of Utah, who gave the correct answer - well, one of four correct answers, actually - and was chosen from 586 correct entries to win a Blu-Ray Dragon's Lair signed by the game's creators.

After giving you Lucille Bliss, also the voice of Smurfette, as one of the voices for Princess Daphne in the game, we asked for the second. The correct answer was Vera Pacheco, also known as Vera Lanpher, Vera Lanpher-Pacheco, or Vera Day. We accepted any of those four as correct responses.

Pacheco was actually the head of assistant animators for the project, which until it brought in Bliss, used only one other professional voice: the narrator of the title sequence. Sound engineer Dan Molina supplied the voice of Dirk the Daring.

Thanks to EA Mobile for supplying the prize, and thanks to all who entered!

<![CDATA[Win a Blu-Ray Dragon's Lair Signed by the Game's Creators]]> Dragon's Lair is out on the iTunes App Store for five bucks, but if you don't have an iPhone or iPod Touch, the good folks at EA Mobile are providing an autographed, playable Blu-Ray copy that we're giving away.

Here's the lowdown on the swag up for grabs: It's a Blu-Ray version of the game, which you'll remember was a series of animated sequences that you successfully advanced by joystick or button. So that means not only is this playable on a PS3, it's playable on anything with Blu-Ray capability. It also features full 1080p bonus material. You can see all the info here.

The pot sweetener: the case is signed by Dragon's Lair creators: Don Bluth, Gary Goldman, John Pomeroy and Rick Dyer. Bluth was the lead animator, with artists Goldman and Pomeroy helping to create the game's signature visuals. Dyer was the president of Advanced Microcomputer Systems, and is credited with the concept that became the game, an eye-popping hit in the arcade days of 1983.

Now. Here's how we're gonna give this away. We'll ask a trivia question, and you must email its correct answer to kotakucontestATgmailDOTcom within the next 24 hours. DO NOT POST THE ANSWER IN THE COMMENTS. We will choose a winner at random from all the correct guesses.

Here's how to play.

1) Send your answer to kotakucontestATgmailDOTcom
2) The subject header of your message must include the words Dragon's Lair Contest. You should probably cut and paste those words to the subject header now.
3) Your answer must be received by 4 p.m. US Mountain time tomorrow, Sunday Dec. 12. 2009.
4) Your answer must be spelled correctly to be eligible.
5) Do not post the answer in the comments. Comment submissions are not eligible.

We'll pick a winner from the correct answers and, if it's you, we'll have to ask for your full name, address and phone number to have it shipped.

Alright here's the question:

Princess Daphne was in fact voiced by two women in the original Dragon's Lair. Lucille Bliss, the voice of Smurfette, was one. Who was the other?

Remember, correct answer, correct spelling, correct subject header. Thanks!

<![CDATA[Kotaku's Zelda Contest Continental Clarification]]> In case you missed it, we launched a pretty impressive Legend of Zelda giveaway yesterday. But one point of clarity.

When we said it was open to anyone in the Americas, we did mean anyone living in either North or South America.

So if you live in any of the many countries those two continents include, are at least 18 and love your Zelda, you better get to planning if you want to enter our contest by the Dec. 31 deadline.

Prizes for the contest include a signed DSi and $1,000 Nintendo World Store gift certificate. Check out the full breakdown of goodies we're giving away here and the full rules here.

<![CDATA[Win A DSi Signed By Zelda Director, $1000 Shopping Spree (And More!)]]> If you're a Zelda fan you're going to want to sit down before reading this.

We've got an amazing prize pack to give away to the biggest Kotaku Zelda fan: A copy of The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, a Spirit Tracks t-shirt, a $1,000 Nintendo World Store gift card, a Zelda's "biggest fan" trophy and a white Nintendo DSi system personally signed by longtime Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma.

But proving that you're a big, huge fan of a Zelda is old hat. We'd ask and you'd deliver with amazing, inspired photos of yourself posing, showing off items, doing silly stunts. But that's been done to death.

Recruiting others to your cause, now that shows true dedication.

Here's what we want to see from you: Photo or video proof that you've convinced friends, congregations, schools, entire stadiums of people that the Zelda franchise is the best around. In the video or photo your converts will need to each be holding a Kotaku sign so we know it is legit and for this contest. You''ll also want the video or photo to somehow demonstrate your love and their new-found love of the Zelda games.

The entire team at Kotaku Tower will be going through your entries to pick the best, judging each based on quantity and quality of converts and the zeal with which they and you seem to be enthralled with Zelda.

Once we've selected the 11 finalists we'll let you vote to determine the winner.

While the grand prize winner will be walking away with those unbelievable prizes described above, ten runners-up will each receive The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks game and a Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks t-shirt.

The Rules
* One entry per an account only and pictures missing the Kotaku sign (everyone in it needs to have one in some form) will be tossed out.

*You must be 18 or older.

*Contest only open to residents of the Americas.

*You must include your submission as a comment in the post linked here, but not as a reply to this story.

*We will be regularly checking to make sure new users submitting for the contest have their accounts activated as quickly as possible, but it might take a day or two to show up on the site.

*Do not email your entry, these will be ignored. They have to be submitted in comments HERE, click on this link. Please only use that post for your entries, not for commenting or discussing so we can more easily sort through the entries.

*Read the rest of our standard rules here.

*CONTEST DEADLINE: All entries must be posted no later than December 31.

<![CDATA[Crackdown 2 Dev Wants Your Graffiti]]> Developer Ruffian Games is calling for user-made "awesome" graffiti to include in their upcoming game, Crackdown 2, because they're too lazy to make it themselves.

Ten years have passed in Pacific City since the end of the last game, and so things are supposed to look a lot sketchier than they did back when everything was nice and, uh, pristine. Now, though, "Deranged freaks roam the landscape, buildings have been wrecked beyond recognition, burnt out husks of cars litter the highways, there's dog mess and graffiti everywhere."

Or their would be "graffiti everywhere," if somebody would pretty please make it for them.

Ruffian is asking users to submit graffiti to this email address (compo@gazaxian.com) before December 9. The "winners" of this competition can expect to see their street art in the finished game — which is due out sometime next year.

Here's the minute details:

* Get your submissions to us in time, we need them by Wednesday the 9th of December
* Do not submit someone else's pictures without permission. We don't want to be tied up in a legal battles with spotty teenagers claiming we ripped off their work because you copied your entry from underneath the Staines underpass (the one near the chippy, not the one by the roundabout).
* Keep it clean. However tastefully or lovingly rendered goatse or tubgirl pics aren't going to end up in the game
* Submission format: 1024 x 1024 images please. Format doesn't matter that much. PNG is nice.

<![CDATA[Write a Walk-Through, Maybe Win Stuff]]> Don't forget, if you want to grab some free gaming stuff, you need to get with the walk-through writing.

In case you did forget, here's the deal:

We want you to write up a complete walk-through of a game in our comments using the #walkthroughs tag. It will show up right in the page for all to see. We'll pick our favorites and promote them to the front page and then ask our readers to select their favorite in comments.

The author of the top walk-through will get to pick three things from a pile of free crap that includes games, shirts, statues, stickers, plushies and we'll mail it directly to him or her.

The contest starts now and the deadline to get it into our commenting system using the #walkthroughs tag is Nov. 17. We'll then ask our readers to decide which of the short list they think should win the grab from our freebies.

The walk-throughs can be for new games, old games, whatever, just don't plagiarize or you'll be banned.

Sounds good?

Get to it

<![CDATA[Valve Asks "Dude, Where's My Thumb?" Again]]> Left 4 Dead 2 fans with two or more fingers and access to a camera will be delighted to learn that Valve is issuing a sequel to the Left 4 Dead-themed contest it ran last year, now with improved prizes.

The "Dude, Where's My Thumb 2" contest rules are pretty simple. Take a photo of yourself in front of one of the many outdoor ads currently plastered across New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle, Miami, Phoenix, Dallas, Minneapolis, and San Francisco, exhibit some creativity, submit your photo and cross those two aforementioned fingers. Last year's winner was this guy, so do better than that.

The winner of that contest gets a custom "infected" Xbox 360, which is hand-painted, laser engraved and custom designed. 25 runners-up get Xbox 360 copies of Left 4 Dead 2 autographed by Valve team members..

The only downside here is that PC gamers appear to have been left behind. But you're getting used to this level of disappointment, right PC gamers?

You have until November 15 to make photographic magic happen. Full details at the official Left 4 Dead site.

<![CDATA[And the Winner Is...]]> Voting for our Uncharted 2: Fortune Hunter contest wrapped up Friday night.

We've tallied the votes and the winner is Rated-G. The runners-up are: Colewheeler, Greyisokay, Trocar-Slush- and Psudonym.

Over the weekend Rated-G emailed me to say that even if he did win, he'd rather the top prize go to Colewheeler, which is awfully nice. So Colewheeler will be receiving the grand prize and the four runners-up will each be getting the runner-up prizes.

If you're one of the lucky five please email me from the account you registered on Kotaku with so I can get the ball rolling on getting you your prizes.

Thanks to everyone who entered the contest. I'm sorry we couldn't hand out more prizes. I do want to point out that while we've been having technical issues with comments for the past week making it hard or impossible for readers to view older comments, that did not effect our finalist selection.

We checked entries multiple times a day all last week up until Friday morning, everyone was considered. Blame me and my taste on any choices you don't agree with, it had nothing to do with timing or technology.

Hopefully everyone will be happier with our next contest. Take care.

We were so blown away with your submissions that we've decided to select ten of you as finalists. Unfortunately, only five will win prizes, but this way we are able to recognize a few more people.

I've listed the ten folks we at Kotaku Tower picked as our favorites. Don't worry, we went through all of the posts, all of the comments, both active and inactive, to make our selection.

Remember, as stated in the rules, you have to be 18 or older and live in the U.S. to win. If you end up being selected as a finalist or the grand prize winner and don't meet those requirements we'll select the person with the next highest votes to take your place.
