How bout releasing the game first then talking about DLC?.....I wish I had other peoples faith in regards to DLC for Heavy Rain. I'm sure the game will be great though.
I still want to know what they're doing about Trophies, last I heard they were having trouble finding where to actually put them. I hope they don't end up making it, Beat the game without dieing, beat the game with 1 dead character, beat the game with 2 dead characters...
More seriously, I'm a little worried about trophies, because from everything Quantic Dream have said and shown, the spirit of the game doesn't seem too compatible with the spirit of trophies.
Sure, there are always trophies for story progression, but never 100% of them.
I guess I'll just have to trust QD on this.
Or, should they fail to come up with a good system, ignore trophies altogether.
It'll have to be a prequel to keep things making sense, seeing as there is so many different endings. Things wouldn't really make any sense if you've finished the game with everybody dead.
@Dayvie: Unless... "HEY! Look! It's the magical mystery Mayan oracle-dude from Indigo Prophecy! He's revived everyone! Woo-hoooo! Give it up for oracle-dude!"
@Fadecy: Rival Schools for PSN/XBLA PLZ:
"It's a self-contained experience. We won't release the end of the game as DLC that you need to pay for. The game has all the scenes it's supposed to have. It's a complete story."
i.e. no Ubisoft.
It sucked that we had to pay for the Epilogue, but I agree that it was a good game. Loved the increased difficulty in the Epilogue.
@Antiterra: The POP epilogue is being frustrated at one of the worst end bosses in VG history, terrible design choices and the game being a complete rip off.
Heavy Rain has me hooked. I loved Indigo Prophecy (despite some of the crazier parts), since the story was front and center.
I'm guaranteeing them another $60 if not more for this DLC. I'm a huge advocate for more story-centric games. It really brings this medium to a whole new level.
Don't get me wrong, I've lately been playing nothing but Street Fighter IV and Marvel, but there's something about buying a game for it's story- not it's gameplay, that gets me giddy.
Thank you, i'm glad i'm not the only person who bought Omikron. Of course, I bought it for the Bowie.
;3
Aside from that, I wouldn't have killed for Indigo DLC, it went rogue in the final chapters, but the rest was an experience unlike any adventure game I had played up to that point.
Yes, I would pay for Heavy Rain DLC, but i'd rather decide after playing the game itself; I don't think i'll be disappointed, though. I love narrative-driven games.
Edit: Yes, I still have all my discs, including the Eidos extras. :O
@Archaotic: Hahah, I have that episode of the Conchords on all the time. I pwn it on DVD, of course. I sing and I don't sing Bowie, becuase I just freeze up. I can't bring myself to tribute him yet. :3
I have watched more movies since Netflix became available on the 360 than I have in the last 5 years. Just this weekend I watched Spies Like Us, Krull and Phantasm. Coupled with PlayOn, my 360's have replaced my cable TV in the house.
I don't have cable or watch broadcast TV anymore. Streaming Netflix (with DVDs as needed) and Hulu are enough for me. I honestly wish Netflix had a non-DVD price plan.
@GarretFazniah: Indeed. It's also not too hard to stream other media you may have on your PC to PS3. There are several media server programs available for free. I can play every mp3 on my computer's hard drive on my PS3--and the PS3 is hooked up to a home theater system.
@GarretFazniah: Just properly configure PS3 Media Player or spend the well-spent 30$ on OnPlay and you'll get some pretty good streaming there. Only downfall is you really can't browse files on the page, rather you have to queue the files up first.
@Alessar: If you don't mind that little DLNA error window that pops upevery 45 seconds in the top right hand of your screen...... the PS3 is perfect for streaming content from your PC. And why can't the PS3 stream pics AND music at the same time?
The only thing I don't like about some of this direct delivery stuff is that its not "mindless." When I turn the TV on I can just surf to a random channel until something grabs me. With netflix on xbox and such I have to actually decide what I'm in the mood for. A slight and maybe silly nit pick, but that's the only reason I still have cable.
@Southrncomfortjm: That's why I like apps like the Hulu TV Beta & VeohTV, since I can start off with a random thing I like and allow the automated randomizer to take care of the rest by cycling through whatever I want.
Plus, I'm one of those guys who just does not like his 30-minute shows chopped up with 9 minutes of commercials. To each their own, but I like being productive with my vegging out, hehe.
I just subscribed to Netflix about 3 days ago so I could stream movies onto my 360. It's a great service but the watch instantly selection is lacking. Corpse Bride has been my favorite so far.
@i.roboto: US only unfortunately, they've got next to nothing for movie rental services up North (which sucks because I love Netflix and would so get it for my kids...and myself of course).

I'd be happy with that. :)

But as far as trophies go, they'll probably pertain to trophies we've seen in other storytelling/chapter-based games...

Yeah, it's got an abysmal selection of newer releases, but if you like classic films it's a goldmine.
