Probably not, but it does have green in it. And aliens are always green. Mark Wilson over at sister site Gizmodo spotted this sketch from 1697, which has a design that looks like the Xbox 360 logo. Coincidence?

Mark claims not to be a conspiracy theorist but finds great non-news fodder like this on UFO conspiracy sites. According to Mark, "This supposedly historical shot was pulled from the 1997 documentary Area 51: Alien Interview. According to the film, on November 4, 1697, the citizens of Hamburg, Germany spotted "two glowing wheels" in the air. To some, it was just further proof of another civilization visiting Earth."

The glowing wheels then turned red and crapped out? Kidding! Well, sorta. Too bad those space aliens didn't copyright that logo — they could've made a mint off of Microsoft's use of it. Silly aliens.

<![CDATA[New Wii Shooter Announced]]> ggw.jpg

Conspiracy Entertainment (Yes, the guys behind Pocket Pool) just announced that they plan to bring a futuristic 3D mech shooter to the Wii.

Shoot Out "pits freedom fighters against alien robot machines in a fight for control of earth."

"This game was a hit within the arcade/coin-up market and is now being retooled for the Wii platform," commented Carlo Perconti, president of Hyper- Devbox. "We are very excited to collaborate with Conspiracy to increase the intensity and enjoyment of the game, while remaining true to its original and much-loved design and aesthetic. The freedom of Wii's distinctive handheld wireless controller is ideal for creating a 3D 'shoot 'em up' experience and will allow players a greater feeling of interaction."

Sirus Ahmadi, president of Conspiracy Entertainment, said, "We look forward to working with an established developer such as Hyper-Devbox on our first Wii game. We anticipate to secure other gaming projects in the near- future for the Wii platform."

"The Wii platform is achieving rapid market acceptance. We plan to release 'Shoot Out' in the second quarter of 2007, as part of our efforts to capitalize on the fastest growing segments of the $30 billion global video gaming industry," said Keith Tanaka, CFO of Conspiracy Entertainment. "This is just the beginning of our intention to enter the Wii market."

But does Shoot Out have the Girls Gone Wild label behind it? Inquiring minds want to know.

<![CDATA[The Wii Flap]]> We know the name, we know about the controller speaker, about the motion detection, about the pointer control, but apparently that's not enough. Now fans have latched onto a little flap on the petite Wii and have become convinced that it hides the secret to eternal life, or perhaps a 3D hologram projector. Another, just as credible idea, is that the flap covers up a slot where you can plug in DS games. What about, I don't know, a place to stick memory cards. Nintendo fans sure do love their conspiracies. —Brian Crecente

<![CDATA[Michael Jackson's Music Hidden in Sonic 3?]]>

Someone shot me a YouTube upload of a short documentary examining the possible connections between Michael Jackson's music and the music of Sonic 3. Before you starting thinking this is a conspiracy, rumor has it that Jackson was initially signed on to do the music for a Sonic game but dropped when the scandals started.

The video does an excellent job of comparing and examining specific songs, like the Carnival Night Zone 3 Jam and the credit song, which bares a striking similarity to Jackson's Stranger in Moscow.

Some of the other songs in the game have chord progressions that are identical to Jackson songs.

Watch the video for yourself and let us know what you think.

[Thanks Joel]
