forgive me if this has already been mentioned but, this comes as no surprise. Rebel Strike had at least 40 ties on screen at one time in addition to allied craft with a smooth framerate. Rogue Leader had at least 30 to 40 ties and tie bombers on screen with rebel craft, rebel cruisers, destroyers, frigates AND three Star Destroyers. All running at a smooth clip. Then Factor 5 up the ante again by including the entire Rogue Leader game in Rebel Strike and offered two player split screen co op.
This is all on Gamecube. Somehow I think Wii can handle more than that.
Only one of the titles being shown is an FPS. Not both. Don't know where you got that from cause it certainly wasn't from the horse's mouth. Bit of bs'ing on Kotaku's account again? Me thinks so.
They have expressed an interest in working on an RPG and so the 65 enemies on screen at once could refer to an action rpg. And I honestly don't understand both Kotaku's and the people who have already commented on this opinions about it. You've mentioned the 65 enemies on screen in comparison to what the 360/PS3 can do which is ludicrous given that the architecture of the consoles is vastly different. Managing to get 65 enemies on screen at once, all animated and fully AI'd to undertake tasks and other things is a hell of an achievement given the Wii's horsepower.
As I've said before, I honestly don't understand Kotaku's unprofessionalism in regards to posting Wii news or Wii related articles and honestly, I think you should just drop it seeing as you rarely know what you're talking about or have a good thing to say about the console. The same can be said about all of the commenters who've disgarded this. Really, is there any point in posting that you don't care about something? By posting, it shows that your being ignorant and don't fully understand what is being done (these people being the ones who persist in following stereotypes for the same reason).
@Ganepark32: Well to be fair, the quote itself "to do some things that are very, very rare, even on the 360 or PS3" is, by itself, quite inflammatory. I think that's where the source of the outcry comes from, not from kotaku's reporting itself. When you make comparisons like that, of course its going to provoke a reaction. It's exactly what they're looking for.
Oh wow, now I feel like an idiot for selling my Wii, if only the other consoles could do this but even better...like 10 times better!
Oh wait...
This game is a joke to me. I mean, it just seems a little sad that they are saying things like this as if any one is going to be impressed. Sure, it's neat to do cool things with outdated hardware as a hobbyist activity. Like putting 3D games on a GBA with homebrew development etc...When you put it in to a game you're selling at retail though it just seems like a huge waste of time.
I'm not exactly sure on this game anymore. It seems like they're just making The Conduit to show everyone who doesn't own a Wii that it can pull off some sorta pretty things.
Curse you Dr. Evil, my eternal nemesis. So you want to put 65 enemies on screen at once in a Wii-title do you? Well, not on my watch. Or Captain Planet's.
Considering Resistance 2 has 60 people in MULTIPLYER and probably hundreds of Chimera at a time in single, I'm going to laugh. The bacon of mainstream gaming on the Wii is already cooked. The console's a kids/casual system. Let's move on.
@RawSteelUT: I hope you're not recommending No More Heroes, RE4, RE Umbrella Chronicles, HOTD 2/3, HOTD Overkill, MK Armageddon, Bully, Madworld, and Manhunt 2 to children.
Seriously, get over this "kiddy console" shit. It only makes you out to be a pretentious and condescending elitist. And for someone who complains about such things, it's quite ironic that I need to tell you to "grow up".
Don't like it? Then fuck off and stop whining about how it's supposedly ruining your precious hobby. Christ.
@cmonty06: I, for one, don't need an "M" rating in the corner of a box to enjoy a game. I've dropped more hours into Mario Kart, Smash Bros and Galaxy than I can count. I guess I could count, seeing as the Wii tracks the how many minutes you spend on each game.
All that aside, the PS3 and the Xbox 360 are basically two flavors of the same ice cream. I see Wii as the option of eating flan every once in a while.
@CHoZO: The only people who usually care if a game is rated "M" are likely not old enough to be playing it. Personally, I've found games rate Mature are generally anything but. Thats part of the reason gaming can't get any respect, because in our language we consider giant boobs and explicit gore to be mature, when the rest of the world considers it to be mainly for infantile adults. Not all developers use cleavage to sell games, but most do.
"Don't like it? Then fuck off and stop whining about how it's supposedly ruining your precious hobby. Christ."
One way to look at it all surely.
Then again, there are a number of gamers that have supporter the Ninty since the NES, and actually like to think highly of the corporation, and are disappointed by the fact that our loyalties during the tumultuous N64/GC era pretty much meant nothing in the eyes of Nintendo.
@illiniphase4: Unfortunately, those guys have lost all ability to look at Nintendo for what it is; a bunch of humans that are not able to crap out a high profile title every month. Sure, they have teams on the casual department, but that doesnt change the fact they have brought out a major title in almost all of their major franchises for the Wii, of which some are confirmed to be in development. As a matter of fact, all the games that I know have no installment yet are Zelda and Starfox (I dont care about the latter though).
I do have to give it to you guys though; NoA did go bad.
@Cridia: NoA is the same as they've always been. I'm not sure where you're getting this "sell out" attitude from. I guess you're stupidly expecting them to grow with you, almost like expecting Sesame Street to suddenly turn mature and hardcore.
one is an evolution, the other is 4 steps backwards.
it's a blatant dumbing down to appeal to the casual crowd. skill is not rewarded in that game, as a larger lead usually means a blue shell. the latter point is the sell-out point. i understand catering to your demographic, but taking player skill out of the equation is ludicrous. if a guy is consistently out in front because he's that skilled, but can't win because the game effectively doesn't let him, you've got a problem.
and while not nintendo's fault, the wii has the lowest percentage of quality titles compared to the 360 and ps3.
add the rest of the common gripes, and that's where the "sell-out" attitude is coming from.
@sweenish: Didn't Double Dash also use the Blue Shell? Personally, I like the Blue Shell. You say it dumbs down the game? I say it makes it HARDER. That's not dumbing it down. Sure, it gives someone with no skill a shot at being someone with SOME skill. But if you are good, a blue shell won't screw you.
No one took skill out of the equation. Just the skills you need to win are more than drifting and grabbing items. You have to play defense, which I find challening, deep and rewarding. I find the people bitching about Mario Kart, generally don't know how to play it very well. The game is great for new gamers but it's wildly hardcore if you get a group of players who know what they're doing.
Thats good for them, doesn't DR 2 do thousands on-screen? I'm also pretty sure the Dynasty Warrior games could do something like 50-100 on-screen enemies on the PS2 too.

street fighter iv has .... ONE enemy on the screen.
and some people even think that game is good, too!

things have become way too much about tech specs this gen.
I swear most "gamers" on this site would be psyched spending $60 for a box with old RAM chips in it .... so long as it was in HD with DLC options =P

Nintendo: Our 8-bit system is better than yours!
Sega: Oh yeah? Well now we have a 16-bit system! Suck it! We do what you don't!
Nintendo: Now we do too! And it's STILL better than yours!
Sega: Oh yeah, well... now we can play CDs, and you can put a mushroom on top of it that makes it into a 32-bit system! Eat that!
Atari: You both suck! We got a 64-bit system! Do the Math!

you call these games? mostly stuff from ps2, nothing special or advanced..
these are not must have games like GOW, K2 or GoW or many many more on the ps3 or 360..
there is not a single must have game on the wii.
