Wow Cam Clarke pic on Kotaku...this makes this thread immediatly legendary! Leonardo from Turtles Tetsuo from Akira US Dub Liquid Snake US Ulmeida from Killer 7... Cam Clarke is the stuff legends are made of!
Just an observation on my part, but I've found that voice acting in video games is vastly superior to the voice acting in any cartoons with english voice actors.
Do they use different people for cartoons and video games or do people just not give a shit about cartoons?
@NeoAkira: You mean anime dubs? If anything game and anime dubs are equally bad. In my book, unplayable and unwatchable except in rare cases. American cartoons and games generally have good if not superb voice acting.
@half-beast: i remember playing "Return to Zork" with all its fancy voice acting, and wishing i were playing a text adventure again. seriously, that thing crashed at the drop of a hat.
Cam Clarke was and forever will be the best voice for Kaneda on the VHS version of Akira I still keep for nostalgia reasons. When I bought the more recent Pioneer re-master I was severely disappointed by his absence- it's just not the same character anymore.
I have this weird condition where I can't tell the difference between good voice acting and bad voice acting. When I think it's good, people say it was bad; when I think it was bad, people say it was good.
On another note, I'd love to hear R. Lee Ermey do some voice work the next Call of Duty.
@AncientUnknown1: Same here, although it's for almost all acting. I can tell when the acting is painfully bad (Resident Evil, Paris Hilton, etc.), but passable performances and great ones are indistinguishable to me.
This article claims that Jen Taylor was the voice of Peach in Mario 64, but I could have sworn that it was Leslie Swan, a then employee of Nintendo.....and IMDB backs me up...
Don't know if she was even compensated for her voice work, I remember reading an article a long time ago somewhere that she was flown out to Kyoto to record just those three lines....not a bad deal for three full lines of dialogue...

I thought about making my comment exclusive to anime dubs, but there are some shows on cartoon network that make me cringe.

Any fans of her work, or want to know a little bit more about voice acting should definitely check out the podcast.

IT'S BEEN TOO LONG!
Sadly, most of those lines were Patrick Zimmerman, since Clarke only played Liquid Ocelot in MGS2, not 4. :[

"Dear Mario,
I baked a cake for you. Please come to the castle. Peach"
That and "Let's go". Has she ever said anything else?
