Last Call For PSP2 Concepts!
We just wanted to send out a notice that today is the last day to submit your PSP2 concept designs for the first ever, last ever, official Unofficial Kotaku PSP2 Design Challenge. We've actually received some decent designs—but believe it or not—we've received some real crap, too. Just so you know, the whole "5-year-old sketches a PSP2" bit has been done (pictured here). So, those looking to get in an entry before the deadline should realize that the joke has been made, we actually laughed and now we can all carry on with our lives.
Thanks Timothy!

PSP2 Concept Is Totally Fugtastic
The PSP2, at first glance, has absurd analog stick placement, features a screen that juts out from the casing for now reason and looks tactilely synonymous with playing a stale loaf of bread. But as a mod that could play your PS One and PS2 discs on a flawless OLED screen and export hi def video out (along with Dolby), it's completely geektastic. Sure, the designer could have made a sleek device with touch controls, but this unit is sadly size realistic if you imagine what modders will be able to accomplish in a few years when slimmer Blu-ray drives come out (their spec sheet didn't mention Blu-ray, but as long as we're making stuff up, why not?).
For those who like to indulge in the imaginary, here's the entire spec list:

iPSP, Hot or Not? (We Circled Not)
We really love the idea of a star-crossed Sony/Apple lovechild that's left on our doorstep on a rainy evening—an elegant device that could play PS3/PSP titles while integrating with iTunes. Of course, Apple's heralded multitouch could make its way into the gadget as well (allowing us something to play with while breastfeeding).
But this mock-up? It's a miss. As much as we love the iPod's click wheel, a proper d-pad it is not. Oh, and where the hell are the analog sticks?

Chibi-Robo Patrols The Park
Chibi-Robo!: Park Patrol is bringing the Chibi-Robo! franchise to the DS, which is where it really should have been in the first place as far as I am concerned. It's just the right balance of cute and weird that I love on my little dual-screened handheld. Park Patrol moves the setting outside, where our little robot buddy gets to fight flower monsters, drive vehicles, and revive dead flowers via break dancing, which I assure you will not work in real life. Check out the gallery for some nifty screens and character concept art, suitable for IM icon usage.
