@spamspaz: Actually, I thought Enchantress was OK, but saying there's such a thing as a rare miss in Rushdie's library is disingenuous. His body of work is extremely inconsistent, and it's obvious that his personal life affects the quality of his writing greatly. Grimus, Shalimar, Fury-- none of those are particularly good, and while Verses gets loads of credit that it isn't really deserved of, he's really only been dead-on in Ground, Moor's, and Midnight's Children. When he has an affinity for the tale he's telling-- or when he's just writing a fuck-long allegory about the history of a land he loves dearly-- he's unstoppable. But when he overthinks it-- and of late he does so often-- Rushdie makes clay of his own feet, and then bashes himself to pieces.
I got into such a gamer fanboy tizzy when I first heard that comment. Now I can see that yes, most games and movies on youtube are garbage. But other countries would definitely want them.
Also, it's nice to see parts of the world are still nuts requesting murder in the name of religion. Kind of puts things here in perspective.

The Enchantress of Florence was a rare miss. Grimus, Satanic Verses, Midnight Children and Salamar the Clown are amazing pieces of literature.
