Are you a bad enough dude?

Bad Dudes vs. Dragon Ninja is just one of the many excellent arcade titles Data East created back in the day. Titles like BurgerTime, Side Pocket, and Magical Drop are all the sort of arcade games that you forget about until someone mentions them, and then you're flooded with fond memories. Majesco hopes to help you recapture those memories with Data East Arcade Classics for Wii, a collection of fifteen of the best games Data East had to offer, with full multiplayer support so you can share them with friends and family. Other games in the compilation include Burnin' Rubber, Heavy Barrel, Caveman Ninja, Side Pocket, and BurgerTime sequel Peter Pepper's Ice Cream Factory. If those names don't get you excited, then you're probably much younger than I am.

Mind you we knew this was coming, and we knew it so well that I used nearly exactly the same headline as McWhertor did when reporting on the ESRB rating for the game early last month.

Data East Arcade Classics should hit the Wii early next year, priced to move at $19.99.

<![CDATA[Sega Reveals Splotchy 40 Game Mega Drive Compilation]]> One would think the awesome power of today's consoles and easy access to games in downloadable form would make publishers steer clear of retro compilations, but not Sega. They've just announced a 40 game strong compilation of classic Sega Genesis titles, coming in early 2009 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection will contain 40 16-bit classics, including Sonic 1, 2, and 3, the Streets of Rage series, Ecco the Dolphin, Space Harrier, and obviously more, along with bonus content from the Master System and Sega's own 80's arcade games. To sweeten the pot for today's high-def console owners, the collection will be able to output the games at 720p, utilizing some sort of 'better blurry than blocky' technology.

“SEGA Mega Drive Ultimate Collection is a must-have for any SEGA enthusiast,” commented Gary Knight, European Marketing Director for SEGA Europe. “Fans will get a chance to relive fond memories from these classic games in HD format.”

<![CDATA[Atari Classics Evolve]]> pong-arcade.gifNot just another retro arcade title compilation that screws with the classics with often hilarious results, Atari Classics Evolved for the PSP is over 70 games in one! Not only do you get 11 classic Atari arcade titles like Asteroids, Battlezone, Tempest, Super Breakout, and Pong in both original and evolved versions, but you also get more than 60 Atari 2600 classics. Over 60 games that were once a whole lot of fun but now only amuse for a good minute before that "Hey, I remember this!" feeling wears off. Games so simple you can close your eyes and accurately play them using only your imagination. Hell, they might even be better that way. Having said that, I still plan on picking up the compilation when it hits this fall, if only for the joy of peer-to-peer wireless Pong.
