Mytheon is an online strategy game in which players collect and trade power stones containing troops and spells to use in battle against their opponents. It sounds a lot like EA's BattleForge, only with rocks instead of cards and a strong focus on mythology. Want to try it early? Participating in next week's stress test could be your best bet.

"We want our players to stress our servers and push our technology to its limits so we can really evaluate things in preparation for our official closed beta in January," said Peter Cesario, Director of New Business and Product Development at True Games. "We invite you to tell your friends and family and really put our servers to the test. And, in return, you will get a first look at the game and a ton of cool exclusives."

What kind of cool exclusives? For starters, participating in the stress test will score you an exclusive forum avatar, which doesn't exactly fall into the category of cool. Once the game launches, however, they'll be passing out in-game items to players who participate, so this is your chance to get in on the ground floor. That, and True Games warns of limited space for the closed beta test, so any leg up you can get on the crowd should come in handy.

Visit the Mytheon website to sign up for an account. The stress test will take place on Monday, December 21st, so join up and give those servers hell for Christmas.

<![CDATA[A Real Look at Square Enix's Virtual Store]]> Good news, Square Enix figurine collectors! Squeenix is going to open up their own online shop to sell their wares directly to the consumer, bypassing other stores. They wanted to make sure they could have the collectibles online and available at launch to make available to collectors. A spokesman said:

"We wanted to take it into our own hands. It shows our scope as manufacturers of collectible figures."

The example they gave was a figure that's $24.99 retail would be marked up to $34.99 on other stores, so making this store will save people a ton of money in the long run. In addition, their store will have exclusive items that won't be found anywhere else.

<![CDATA[PS3 Giveaway Spectacular Gets Cooler(er)]]> resboxart.jpg

So the folks over at Insomniac Games couldn't help but notice that our spiffy Playstation 3 giveaway, while now featuring a copy of Oblivion signed by some of the Bethesda devs, was still very much lacking in any Resistance Fall of Man-nary...Um, yeah.

And they couldn't have that, so they've offered to throw in a free copy for our one lucky reader. Better still, they've even offered to have some of their devs sign the copy as well.

So let me get this straight, our giveaway now includes a one-of-a-kind laser etched PS3, copies of Fight Night, Madden, Call of Duty, Ridge Racer and signed copies of both Oblivion and Resistance.

This is officially now our coolest contest ever, I think.

<![CDATA[Canadians Get Life Size Link Statue]]> Well, one lucky Canadian will anyway. Carrying on the Nintendo of Japan tradition of giving away really cool stuff, Nintendo of Canada is holding a sweepstakes in which they will be giving away a life size collectible Link statue as a grand prize. Three runners up will receive a collectible Link "statuette".

There not many details as to the size of this hefty prize, but be warned, the rules state that it is the winner's responsibility to pay for taxes and shipping costs. All entries must be received by January 31st for the drawing that will be held sometime around Valentine's Day.

I wonder what the delivery fee for an elf-like Hyrule hero to your front door actually is?

Ohhhh Canada, you could win a giant Link
