It's hammer time! Every game has triple and double XP weekends these days. Volition wanted to take things a step further with its "Get Your Ass Back to Mars" event. From today through December 21st, logging in and blowing things and people up will net you five times the normal experience points, meaning that getting 50 achievement points or a gold trophy for hitting 100,000 XP will be easier than ever, not to mention unlocking the fabled ostrich hammer at 120,000 points.

During the event, be sure to follow the Red Faction Twitter for chances to score free downloadable content codes, which make great virtual stocking stuffers, possibly.

<![CDATA[Star Trek Online Hides Clothes In Star Trek Blu-ray]]> Star Trek fans who buy the Blu-ray version of The Original Series' third season will find themselves in the Admiralty when Star Trek Online launches next year.

The Blu-ray releases of the original Star Trek come packed with extras, as well they should, because when you make something very old very clear it generally makes it look even older than it is. Along with rare pilot episodes and various other bells and whistles, Star Trek: The Original Series season three on Blu-ray comes packed with a special code that will unlock an Admiral costume for your character to wear in Cryptic's Star Trek Online.

"For a limited time, sets will include an exclusive free offering in Atari's Star Trek® on-line game. Each set will include an insert that includes a unique code that will allow game players to outfit their avatar in an exclusive Admiral's outfit available only with this offer."

That's certainly one motivational extra for fans of the series and serious MMO fanatics. I just hope they keep things authentic, so when players don the Admiral outfit they suddenly find themselves trapped behind a desk, desperately trying to give orders to starship captains who have no respect for authority - for example, all of them.

The third season of Star Trek: The Original Series on Blu-ray ships in December.

<![CDATA[Get Your Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 3 Codes (360 and PS3)]]> Exploding monkeys, zombies, new maps? It must be time to give away some codes for Call of Duty: World at War's third map pack.

We've got five Playstation 3 codes and ten Xbox 360 codes. I've decided to bury the codes in two old posts on Kotaku. You'll just need to find them.

Here's a clue:

He was one of the main voice actors for Call of Duty: World at War

Good luck, and when you find a code make sure to hop back here and let us know. Don't forget to activate the code first though.

Update: The codes are all used up. Sorry!

<![CDATA[The Konami Code Makes ESPN.com Magical!]]> Sports fans with a taste for glittery unicorns should run, not walk, to ESPN.com and remember their Konami Code, because it appears that some soon to be possibly unemployed web designer is having a laugh.

As a couple of unicorn-loving tipsters with a thirst for sporting news have informed us, inputting the infamous Konami cheat code (up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, enter) will infest the official ESPN web site with mystical ponies. And they'll keep spawning if you keep clicking.

Not only do you get an eyeful of unicorn and rainbow, you'll also get a heaping help of Comic Sans. And every story will become "cute," "magical" or "sparkly." Thanks to Ken and CronoX2 for the mystical tip!

Update: Looks like ESPN.com has removed the "Cornify" code from the majority of its web site. It was glorious while it lasted.

<![CDATA[How To Experience The Red Faction: Guerilla Demo]]> While North American gamers still have to pre-order Red Faction: Guerrilla through GameStop to gain early access to the demo, lucky Europeans need look no further than their web browsers.

GameStops across North America are reporting the arrival of demo codes for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Red Faction: Guerrilla, handed over upon receipt of $5 or more down towards the purchase of the game. European fans, however, need not set foot upon retail ground, as THQ offers them single player demo codes in exchange for signing up to the MyTHQ section of their website. The publisher warns that a limited number of codes are available, so you might want to hurry, lest you get lost in the mad rush.

The codes are locked to European PlayStation Network and Xbox Live accounts, unfortunately, so unless you know some magical way around regional restrictions, this offer is for Euro eyes online.

<![CDATA[Fable II LE Code Solution Live - Microsoft Is Watching]]> Some purchasers of the Fable II Limited Edition last week were surprised to find the promised DLC codes absent from their packages. Now Microsoft has set up a system to get the codes out to LE owners, which can be found here, but be warned - Microsoft is keeping an eye out for those trying to scam the system by requesting codes without having purchased the LE. Lionhead community manager Sam Van Tilburgh

We are incredibly sorry and apologize to anyone frustrated by this process. We have been focused on ensuring that our North American LCE customers impacted by this retail issue are quickly taken care of and receive their codes in a timely manner. It was the quickest solution we could implement to address the issue. Microsoft will be monitoring submissions from users looking to abuse the system but I can’t discuss what those measures specific to this solution are.

So everyone who is emailing with tips regarding free limited edition DLC for everyone might want to rethink that idea. Not sure what measures they could possibly take, but the warning certainly sounds ominous, doesn't it? Hit the jump for Sam's full response to our inquiry.

Microsoft’s first concern is to get content into the hands of LCE customers in North America who did not receive a code in their retail package. There will be people that try to game the system - we are tracking requests and gamertags associated. We are focused on ensuring that our North American LCE customers impacted by this retail issue are quickly taken care of and receive their codes in a timely manner.

<![CDATA[Unlocking All The Songs In Guitar Hero World Tour]]> Those of us who pre-ordered Guitar Hero World Tour were given a little sheet of paper instructing us to go to a website and enter our receipt number in order to receive a special super-secret code that would allow us to unlock all 84 songs included with the game at once. While I play Guitar Hero solo more often than not and prefer unlocking the songs manually, which gives the whole experience a game sort of vibe, I know some of you are impatient and don't want to be stuck playing the songs you don't like when you could be playing the songs you do, so I've gone ahead and printed out a screenshot of the code so the more impatient among us can get their World Tour on.

Hit the jump for a screen cap of the code, safely locked away from eyes that would rather just not know. Now I go back to staring at Activision reps with a wild look in my eyes until they announce Stan Bush's "The Touch."

For those of you in the audience who are colorblind, that's Blue - Blue - Red - Green - Green - Blue - Blue - Yellow, though why you folks would be playing the game in the first place just confuses me.

<![CDATA[You Can Unlock Every Rock Band 2 Song In 10 Notes]]> I've had a pretty busy weekend, so I didn't have much time to delve into Rock Band 2, and looking over my schedule for the next week or two, chances are slim I'll be up to unlocking anything in the game anytime soon. For those of us with little time or little patience for unlocking new tracks, Harmonix have included a handy little code in game that unlocks everything, all at once. Mind you this will completely strip the joy of discovery out of the game, so use at your own risk.

Simply go into the game modifier screen and enter in the original Rock Band unlock code - Red, Yellow, Blue, Red, Red, Blue, Blue, Red, Yellow, Blue - and poof, you're a joy killer. I tested the code out on my game and it works like gangbusters. Then I stared wistfully at the track listing before putting down the guitar and trudging back to my desk, completely broken.

<![CDATA[Unlocking Symphony In Dracula X]]> I'd like to think I am not the only one who bought Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles for the PSP last week for the sole purpose of having a portable copy of Symphony of the Night on hand at all times, only to find myself jumping through hoops to unlock my main reason for picking up the title in the first place. Well rather than have you go through the agonizing hours filled with senseless deaths that I went through, I figured I would just give you the skinny on unlocking the game up front. First off, you need to get to stage 2 in the main game. At one point a giant bull creature starts chasing Richter, and rather than jumping over the holes in the floor, you'll want to fall into the first one. Finish the level and you'll find yourself in an alternate stage 3.

Going upward at every opportunity you'll come across a plantlike cage hanging from the ceiling next to one of those bone-snakes that sprouts from the wall. Kill the snake before he kills you, and then use a special weapon on the cage. Antitype from GameFaqs suggests the axe, but I found the spinny bible works just as well. Destroying the cage creates a platform, which lets you hop across the top of the level to a tombstone. Break it, and a tiny-screen version of Symphony of the Night is yours to command!

There's more to unlock in the game, of course, but I doubt I'll be going back to Rondo any time soon. Even a non-fullscreen PSP version of SotN kicks it's 3D side-scrolling ass. Hit up the Gamefaqs page below if you find the will to do anything else once mini-Alucard is at your disposal.

<![CDATA[Red Noses on Your Legos]]> It's Red Nose Day in the UK, a semi-holiday centered around raising money for the disadvantaged through the Comic Relief charity. Traveller's Tales is urging folks to donate cash money to the enterprise, and in exchange they are offering up a code that unlocks red noses for all of your Lego Star Wars II characters on the Xbox 360, PS2, PC, and Gamecube.

Simply donate any amount, and you'll be taken to a page where you'll find the code that makes the humorous take on the first three Star Wars films just a bit more funny. Not sure if the code is universal or only works on the PAL versions of the game, but I am sure our commentors will quickly let us know one way or another. I believe in them.

<![CDATA[Hot Coffee on PS2!]]> Well, there goes Rockstar's last defense. Someone claims to have come up with an unlock code for Hot Coffee on the Playstation 2 version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

The unlock requires the AR Max device, by the code is so short it's actually listed in its entirety in a forum posting. Can someone try it out for me and let me know if it works?

Rockstar is officially not returning my calls requesting comment.
