    This would be nice, even if it doesn't necessarily mean dogs as commenters are pointing out.
    Half the horror of a Zombie/viral-infection scenario is that the entire environment is turned against you - safe hidey holes can turn into inescapable dead ends if you're ever found, your brethren are now a horde out to rip you to shreds, and even your fellow survivors are all potentially going to end up hunting you too - but also, the myriad of generally harmless and ignorable wildlife that we live with in our normal lives become some of the most dangerous threats out there.
    Proof's in the pudding - zombie dogs and birds in Resi? Scary as all hell.

    I like the idea of zombie dogs. But what really naggles at my mind is the naming progression of the games. 'left 4 dead' is cute. Adding a 2 is kinda silly, but it's a sequil. what are they going to name number 4? just 'left 4 dead'? or maybe they are going to take out the number and just call it 'Left Dead'? #left4dead2

    @Arsenic13: I think they already said they were going to do this, back when everyone was raging about l4d2 coming one year later.

    I think they said that it was going to be merged, so that you can play the campaigns in the first one without having to start the original executable.

    @supo: I doubt this is the case. The two games would need to be code compatible. This would be a nightmare to do properly, especially with the many differences between the games (AI, guns, infected, so on).

    I'm suspecting "joining" these older servers simply closes L4D2 and launches the original, joining the new game automagically. #dlc

    @RabidZombie: It's possible that they've chosen that solution but it would be a simple task to include the code from the original game with l4d2. While it would be nearly doubling the executable size, it probably wouldn't be a big deal. Although, I'd imagine they had planned to have them combined from the beginning, and made the maps compatible with the updated engine. #dlc

    I could never get into these games. I tried the second one, and It would take me six or seven tries to complete the assassinations, with a good number of those screw ups being because of an enemy randomly noticing me for no reason at all. Or the alarm sounding for, again, no reason at all.

    My word man, this is good news. One of the aspects I love about the Hitman series is that it's created by one developer. They're doing great to date, so why switch?

    Also, it's one of the few series that hasn't been divvied up among multiple developers resulting in too many games on too many different platforms and the ultimate watering down of the brand's image.

    Excellent news. Now we don't have to worry about extremely exclusive horsecrap or system pandering.

    IO have been doing a good job so far, even if the series is getting a bit stale. Hopefully they'll be able to freshen it up without killing it.

    I don't think handing it over to Rocksteady would make it any better. We'd just get an entirely different game with the Hitman name slapped on. That's not a slur against Rocksteady, that's just how "guest development" goes.

    I think the gameplay and mechanics for this game would be good as always. Just some lingering feeling in me when I read it's going to be about the agent when he's psychologically and physically in a bad shape makes me think of Max Payne 3 where he gets a pot-belly. Granted there's no real news at all but just hope it's not a step backward characterwise.

    When I read that original article I was stoked, but then I played the batman demo an I realized that Rocksteady, while a good developer in their own right, would probably change the dynamic of the Hitman series. I believe IO will know what to do in this jump to next-gen consoles. As long as they stay away from anything resembeling Kane & Lynch.

    "Shitty aiming"? Maybe I adjusted to it, and I liked the recoil because it felt realistic with the assault rifles.

    Personally I thought Kane and Lynch was a great game, it stamped out some new personality and style from the usually story-dry but gameplay-heavy Hitman developers. Excellent pacing, excellent mission setpieces that are the best interpretation of a Michael Mann movie, and actually meaningful character-based co-op that never felt tacked-on. When Kane loses his shit in the raining graveyard-like construction site, that blew me away, and also when Lynch loses it in the bank.

    @Moeez Siddiqui: It had it's moments but for me the aiming and the controls were just wrong, it didn't feel right at all and felt archaic compared to other games out at the time.

    I would love to see alot more work put into the AI of the game. Other then that, this is one franchise that is near perfect as it is.

    Oh, and maybe make the ragdoll physics more realistic. Seeing someone flip backwards 3 times after a shot from a desert eagle is pretty unrealistic. Slomo cheat ftw though, Blasting someone all the way across the level is awesome, when the mood is right of course.

    That's good to know. It's in good hands at home with IO Interactive and so far they've looked after it well. I'll be looking forward to getting my hands on the game when it's done.

    @-MasterDex-: As good as Rocksteady may be (which remains to be seen as far as I'm concerned, but the demo for arkham was cool), Hitman is IOI's baby. It would be like giving COD to Treyarch and expecting it to be as awesome as if it was IW. It just wouldn't happen.

    I suspect this has come about as they are using the Rocksteady mocap studio as it's one of the best in Europe and Edios wants to save money by using the facility they own plus as Arkham is done I'm sure it's not being used to capacity. Nothing more.

    Hope new hitman is a bit more polished than the last.
