Just make sure you can give me about 30 of those a second when the game is running or there is no point in posting screen shots for the sequel to a game that someone had to bribe Microsoft to certify in the first place it was so broken...
The ethical treatment of animals is the most absurd thing I have ever heard, and I would be even somewhat dishonored to be given a title that says my game is for anything else.
There is nothing unethical about eating a animal, or treating it any which way you want before it dies. Why? We are higher on the food chain, it is as simple as that. If a Lion was screwing with you, or not killing you instantly, other Lions wouldn't get picket signs or spend millions of dollars trying to get it to be more "humane" to you. They would probably just get pissed because they are hungry and you are not dead fast enough.
Moreover, who made you God? I eat meat and plant life, both were living at one time and their lives were given to fill me up. Killing a plant in favor of a Cow doesn't mean you did anything more ethically, it means you took a life you deemed less significant. Do you know who judges people off their lives significance to their ultimate grand scheme? God. You are not a God, get off your idiotic moral high horse.
If you look even deeper into the matter, you would notice in the mass production of all this food they like to eat, tons of animals are killed in the process. The only difference is, a cow raised to be eaten isn't wasted like the animals killed in the process of destroying land to make more room for corn. I think if we take the life of something, the least we can do is be sure not to waste it. If I died right now, I would hope that my death could at least have the significance to improve the life of something. I like to give that curiosity to the cows I eat as well.
If you are a vegetarian for some ultimate moral reason then you are a moronic tool. Not much more to say beyond that.
My friend, I could never be a vegetarian either (MEAT! IT'S WHAT'S FOR DINNER), but it does you a disservice when your message is obfuscated by the immediacy of your confrontational tone.
@halfthought: But the efficiencies of a system are, as you said, much different from "ZOMG COWS R PPLZ TOO MANG."
I hope I made it clear in the first post, there are many reasons to be a vegetarian. Health reasons are a big one, and perhaps you do think the system is not efficient. That's fine, to each his own, but to do so for some ultimate moral reason pertaining to the animals rights is just absurd.
@The-Dayman: I have learned, from arguing in law and debate classes, unless you attempt to completely destroy your opponent and make them look like a idiot, most people will automatically go for the point that does. Presenting information in a civilized manner sadly usually is overshadowed by the person going "BUT I DON'T HATE THEM GOD HATEZ THEM" or something like that. In a normal discussion with people I know are at a certain level of intellect I would be more than happy to simply state my piece.
@D Mitsuki, Gotta have guts kid!: I could spend a thousand words on the subject, but I'm not one to try convincing people about this, since it's a hopeless battle. There's a thing I would like to mention though, we're allowed to treat animals as we please yes, but why should we? Are we sadists? Evil ones? Why can't we treat an existing being with respect, eating it, but making it suffer the least we can.
Of course in nature we're omnivorous, but we're blessed with a power called "evolution", in the future we'll have the means to stop feasting on other living beings (such as food cloning) and we'll simply do so, that will be an even greater act of superiority of our species, not the simple brute strength we use now by killing those beings who cannot fight us.
It's true that we're on top of the food chain, but I think it's more right to say we just broke the system. There's such a vast ocean between our strength and the other animals' that it's just unfair, and not the "lion vs. sheep" kind of unfair but the "God vs. spec of dust" kind of unfair. We're so almighty that we could just decide to terminate all life (but humans) on Earth tomorrow and go ahead with it... but... would that be a wise choice?
Being almighty doesn't mean that you can do whatever you want rightfully; abusing other living beings doesn't make us better, it doesn't evolve us, it brings us back to a Neanderthalish state of evolution.
We can't change our behaviour in so little time, it's no use trying to convert people to vegetarianism, let's just begin to act as mature as our species should be, given our intellect; that'll be the first step, one that surprisingly many ancient populations took before us, respecting all kind of life. In the modern "civilized" (lolololololol) world instead we just act as mindless bullies to our planet and ecosystem.
EDIT: All of this is not in defense of PETA, I don't know jack about that organization aside from some posts on this site (I'm not American, so I don't hear of them a lot), I'm not judging them positively or negatively. This is just my own thought on the matter.
@Axass: It's cheaper to treat animals inhumanely, and less work. That's the incentive. It's not some awesome sounding one, but it is the incentive.
I am a firm believer in the fact that us humans, as superior as we may be, are nothing special. Difference between us and a monkey is we are more effective at using our tools. We are primal creatures with primal instincts, and we constantly act as apes should. (Lust, war, fighting, no different then a Chimpanzee)
Sure, we have evolved to a point that is probably greater then any other animal on earth. I'm sure though, a dolphin thinks its the most evolved creature on earth, and believes our dependence on machines is our greatest weakness. Who knows who is the most evolved and smartest, but I'll tell you were not quite "gods" of the universe yet.
Were getting there, but not there yet. So we will still for the time being be slaves to our own genetic makeup.
@Axass: Actually, if you look at the chemical responses fruits and vegetables undergo while being consumed, they are most definitely reacting to damage: Which is all pain is, FYI, your body and nervous system telling you that damage is happening. Since it is unable to avoid it's fate and the demise is somewhat protracted--technically... it is suffering.
As for 'emotions'--emotions are entirely subjective. Plants react to stimuli, and have 'needs' like hunger, need for water... they even fight one another and kill one another for better territory. It isn't intelligence as we know it.. but then, technically it's probably not safe to regard a creature as intelligent just because it acts and reacts in ways we don't want to classify as intelligent.
It also, for the record, releases chemicals into the air signifying that it is in a form of 'pain' as a kind of weird warning.
I remember trying the first one. I awoke five days later in a pool of blood and the remains of a house..someone's house. I don't know who.
I can't get folks to tell me what happened, they just scream and run away. I don't think I'll be trying this one..I'm still having evil Latin mummered to me when I go to the bathroom, you see.
@TaylorEatWorld: Are these socks filled with heavy objects, and how much force do you use to "put" them on their heads? I'm going to use that verb now because it sounds a lot nicer-
"I put my fist on someones face"
@ThatsBitch3n: Dogs on the street in Japan at this hour are hard to come by. Dogs on the street in Japan not on leashes are very hard to come by. I'll make up for it by throwing a pinecone at a baby.
I'm hereby founding PETP - People for the Ethical Treatment of Plantlife.
I'm sick of all these vegetarians killing innocent plantlife; they grow them simply so they can feast on them for their sadistic pleasure. Plants are alive too, PETA. You murder plantlife and flaunt it? Disgusting. You have no right to talk about cruelty, PETA.
On a more serious note, ironically enough, I can't take PETA seriously any more.
PETA: funding terrorists, impeding scientific progress, killing animals, destroying property, and asking that ice cream be made from human milk since 1980.
@BanhammerStrikesBack: Shit yeah ;P I recently re-watched it.. Dave is one of the funniest stand up/sketch comics of all time. I'm just a whitey kid that isnt even slightly interested in the hip-hop culture and yet anything Dave does makes me laugh my ass off. He is truly a comic genius.
