You people are insane. I've done the spiked columns with no damage before without really even thinking about it. I have never understood why people find it so difficult; I'm not saying anyone should be able to get the trophy his first try, but unless they change the mechanics of that challenge, it won't be frustratingly difficult at all.
Anyway, wow, this is great. The fact that I already beat both on God and Titan mode respectively had turned me off of doing it again to get the trophies, but since those won't be trophies, looks like I might go trophy hunting after all. #godofwarcollection
"I have never understood why people find it so difficult."
And? What's your philosophical point? That you're too good? Or that most players are tards?
According to Santa Monica themselves, The Styx was the only level that didn't go through focus tests, and it painfully shows. On my first playthrough, I died about 50 times trying to top those fucking columns because of the buggy collision masks.
Two years later, on my second playthrough, despite being dead nervous at the idea of having to deal with those bloody columns again, I climbed both of them on my first try -- go figure. All I can say is that I am positively certain the collision mask was much tighter the second time around. #godofwarcollection
My point was that I don't understand why people find it so hard. Yeah, the collision detection is off, but after you get hit once or twice you can make adjustments and estimations about how close Kratos can be to the spikes. #godofwarcollection
These collection just increased it's sales a bit by having 2 plats. Trophy whores everywhere are foaming at the mouth at the prospect of 2 platinums for 40 bucks.
@Archaotic: Yeah, that blast shard trophy was crazy hard. I actually spent like 2 hours just getting the trophy for having half of the blast shards and then gave up on the rest. #godofwarcollection
@Slagathorian: I'm missing one. Exactly one. I've combed all three islands, I've searched every easily missed location, and I just can't friggin' find it. #godofwarcollection
@Archaotic: God don't remind me of those damn shards, i thought it was going to be easy finding them(being able to see them on the map and all)but damn it was i wrong. #godofwarcollection
@Curse lily: It WAS easy finding them until you get to the VERY LAST one. I think Sucker Punch needs to make them show up on the full-size map after you beat the game. It's only fair. #godofwarcollection
@Archaotic: the one most people miss in on the east coast on the first island out on a pylon sticking up out of the water. The shard-dar barely picks it up. #godofwarcollection
@enaero: the stunts is the worse of the 2. because with teh stunts, only some can be done done at certain points in the game. im trying to muster the patience to get the stunts, cuz the other i have left are a cakewalk next to that trophy. #godofwarcollection
This still has the demo for GoW 3 right? Either way, I'll probably snap this up at some point.
Really, there should be more compilation releases like this. That Mega Man compilation was such a great buy. I'd love to see Nintendo lump every Zelda from OoT up to Twilight Princess onto a compilation with a few features. Or if Square would throw all the SaGa games onto a compilation. Or, "Ratchet and Clank's Greatest Hits": put trophies into the PS2 games and toss them all together, with a couple more interlocking features. That's good gaming. #godofwarcollection
@norealityallowed: Seriously, that's way worse than having to beat God mode... That trophy sounds like a giant "fuck you" to the player: "Oh yeah, you didn't like the column? Thought it was cheap and annoying? Well here ya go, enjoy yer trophies, sucka!" #godofwarcollection
played the demo of both of these back in the day, but never got around to playing them. Beat Chains of Olympus on PSP, which is the first story in the canon, so I am obligated to buy and complete these before 3 comes out...or so I tell myself. :) #godofwarcollection
@melonpans: You do realize, that the two games combined and in HD take up less space on the Blu-ray, because they used to be PS2 games right? So its like no compression with room to spare... #godofwar
@Crippen: I really think it would have been an even sweeter deal if they had of thrown ina download code for Chains of Olympus. That really would have sweetened the deal. Migh even have spurred on the sales of the PSP. Who knows, but yes, it would have been nice to get the whole collection of GOW games #godofwar
@Showmeyomoves!: Umm...are you seven? God of War was released in March of 2005 for the PlayStation 2. Dante's Inferno hasn't been released yet. How can an established franchise be a copy of new property? l3rn 2 g00gl3! #godofwar

@Showmeyomoves!:
YES! FINALLY someone notices how much God of War ripped off Dante's Inferno , i smell a lawsuit coming up (also a shish kebab). #godofwar
@Noodle-Works: I think it's a tie between action/adventure and FPS. Titles like this and Uncharted 2 back up the action-adventure category while games like Modern Warfare 2 and ODST back up the FPS category. #godofwar
I can appreciate the level of production put into these games but compared to DMC and Ninja Gaiden, the combat in the God of War games feels kinda, "automatic".
I'm not really fond of QTEs and it seems like the combat itself is just a giant spamfest. Maybe I'm not playing on a high-enough difficulty? I made it through the 1st game just mashing the crap out of the buttons. Hell, the radius in which Kratos's blades covers is so damn wide, half the time nothing can even get close enough to hit you.
Just my 2 cents. I'll probably wind up picking this up anyways. #godofwar
@Bubbleman!: I gotta agree. I played through and beat GoW 1 when it came out and never even got 2 simply because the first game pretty much tied up all the loose ends. Ares screwed him over, so he not only kills him but takes his role on Mount Olympus. Great job, Kratos. Dunno what else you got planned, but okay!
Yeah, I know he gets revenge on the other gods for shunning him or whatever, but that wasn't the point of the game. That feels like an artificial plot designed to get a sequel made. I heard GoW2 was a ton of fun, but the resolution of 1 gave me no reason to play the game. Of course, the gameplay of 1 was the main reason to play 2, so perhaps I'm missing the point. Then again, maybe a storyline that is growing stagnant is the reason for GoW3 seeming to take forever to come out... #godofwar
@Bubbleman!: Play it on Spartan or God difficulty. That game will beat your ass down and make you it's bitch if you don't properly use combos and the dodge roll. On normal though? Yeah, you can just kinda mash your way thru it letting the blades' wide radius clear out the fodder.
I'd say the combo system is better/more in depth than the DMC series (although the gun/sword combo makes Dante's move set more versatile with less moves) but not quite on par with Ninja Gaiden. This is, of course, on the harder difficulties of all 3 games/series.
Although, once you fully upgrade the Blade of Artemis in the 1st game, it's pretty much game over for anything that crosses your path. #godofwar
@Bubbleman!: Santa Monica Studios has always been very upfront about GoW being a "casual hardcore" game, like a more-accessible DMC or NG. Don't forget also that half of GoW is navigation puzzles. In other words, they are different games aimed at different markets.
God mode is a hell of a lot harder than Normal mode, but it will still always be easier overall than the hard modes in DMC or NG. #godofwar
@To both of you: Play the game on a higher difficulty, like God Mode or Titan Mode, and the strategy will emerge and the game will own you. Seriously, beating Titan Mode in GoW2 was one of my greatest video game accomplishments.
As far as not playing GoW2 and continuing the plot, you're missing out. Just my opinion. It's a good game. #godofwar
@Man in the mirror: It's a PS2 game running in 720p, they didn't change any of the assets or anything. It'll look better running on your PS3 than your God of War 1 or 2 discs would, though. #godofwar

I saw a sega genesis running on a wide screen lcd on a walmart and boy that was ugly.
But on this case, I think that it will be maybe a bit better (like n64 zelda ocarina of time running on higher resolutions than it's native one..)
