    @CynicalNinja: The only solution I can remember is JavaScript. GreaseMonkey/GreaseFire on Firefox already has a fix, but I'm not sure if it works on other browsers.

    Deka is the best name. But god damn, THE EXECUTIVE? Dodged a bullet on that one. Up until now, I swore it was called the DS XL, so I think they failed.

    The Dreamcast was almost called The Black Belt. Yeah.

    @Demonbird: @Demonbird: You can complain if you think they deliberately released the DSi knowing they were going to release the XL, in an attempt to trick their fans into buying both. That's doesn't really conjure up the word "unnecessary" in my mind though. More like "conniving".

    Also the DSi is cheaper and smaller, so it has advantages still. Which release is unnecessary in your mind? DSi or DSi XL? Would you feel the same way if they were released at the same time? (That would be 0 seconds between revisions, doesn't get more unnecessary than that!) Or if you didn't already own a DS? #dsill

    I felt the DSi was an unnecessary upgrade at the time, and I think this is even more of an unnecessary upgrade. DSi was only worth it if your DS was broken, or you didn't have one, and even then, a lite is still viable. If both had come out at the same time I would have found it crazy, and would have not appreciated either as viable. First, because the upgrades do little in the way of gaming, and second, each has a stupid high price for what they are.

    I am getting concerned because Nintendo seems to be putting a lot of time and effort behind these, that is needed elsewhere. #dsill

    @Demonbird: So if a computer manufacturing company came out with a standalone model (where the computer is integrated with the monitor) with a 21" screen, and then, less than a year later, a similar model with a 23" screen, and sold both, that would be unnecessary? They should have waited another year?

    The situations are fairly similar IMO. The biggest difference I can find is that no one else can make DSs and any company can make standalone PCs. #dsill

    @Demonbird: Could you elaborate on that statement? I found it to be a perfectly acceptable comparison. The average user at home may wish for a simple 15" iMac to put in the corner, but a desktop publisher may want to go larger as they need a better look at what they are doing.

    This is similar. I'm perfectly fine with the tiny screen, as i like to put it in the small pocket of my bag and use it on the bus, whereas my fiance only uses it at home while sitting on the couch and often complains that she cant play it long as the tiny screen gives her a headache. #dsill

    They are different because it has been standard for varying sizes of monitors for many years. Different sized monitors cans erve different purposes, a simple 15 inch for an office, a 24 inch widescreen for a graphic designer.
    DS systems have one purpose, standardized video games at a set resolution.
    One market calls for varying screen sizes. The other one does not. Should varying screen sizes somehow become standard in portables it would be akward, because the market does not call for it. #dsill

    @Demonbird: These are your opinions, not facts. I do not understand why you are so adamant about this so called "difference". How can you quantify "it would be awkward"? These statements are not backed by any kind of research or facts, just your desires, which we obviously don't share. I'm not a graphic designer, yet I do my work on a 24" monitor. Is this a problem?

    I think it would be great. A 3" screen for you, a 4" screen for me. Both screens have the same resolution, or some close approximation. #dsill

    @dysan819: Selfish, yes, consumers are supposed to be selfish.
    And you are picking up way more hate than I am projecting on this.
    All I have generally been saying is that this is silly, so quickly after the DSi, and that Nintendo seems to be focusing on Hardware more than software, which is BAD for people who like video games.
    Five years from now I don't want 1 sku a year for a portable that does the same thing, and I don't want companies that don't have a primary focus on games. Anyone who likes games shouldn't want that.
    That's great that the screen boost is what you want, and I hope you grab one, but this is becoming more and more of a pattern that concerns me.
    I'm not being totally selfish, I'm trying to say that we need games, the reason we are here, to be a focus.
    Don't know about you, but I think that's a win win for all of us. #dsill

    Is this akward? Yes, I think so. I also think it is stupid as all hell. Yes these are my opinions. I don't think, having followed portable gaming since its inception, that a standard set up of always having varied screen sizes as seperate skus will be good for portable gaming. I don't think multiple skus are good at all for protable gaming. Why doesn't anyone seem to ever want a company to get it right the first time anymore?
    If the screens need to be bigger, they should be from the start. If the system needs to be smaller, it should be from the start.
    This is not good for you, me, or anyone having multiple skus released, sometimes less than 12 months apart from eachother. #dsill

    I mean, the first thing you did was pretty much come in and tell me my opinion sucks, I don't know what sort of conversation you want out of that.
    These are my opinions really, because I'm not a market analyst, but this is what it looks like to me. Personally, I'm scared because of week after week of releases like We Cheer 2 and new petz games. Personally, I think there isn't a need for multi sized screens in a portable ma rket in the future, sounds like a good way to fragment the market to me, and confuse developers.

    But that's okay, good luck with that, and let me know how far it gets you. #dsill
