    All the features in the world mean nothing to me.

    Just be sure, DICE, to bring back the funny.

    I had more fun with BC's campy homage to Kelly's Heroes ( [www.imdb.com] ) than any thought provoking narrative in a shooter.

    the original BC felt a bit... I don't know, almost budgety, for me. maybe something to do with a few old-school textures here and there, some questionable voice-over work and only mildly amusing humour... To be honest I can't put my finger on it, but there was something about the game that didn't seem top tier. It may have just been the EA logo thinking about it.

    The game was a lot of fun though, and if I pick up either MW2 or BC2, bad company is getting my cash. I did like the original modern warfare, but don't feel right giving cash to Activision for anything any more. I might buy it second hand. #battlefieldbadcompany2

    I hadn't paid much attention to BC2, and the presence or lack of dedicated PC servers isn't an issue for me. But seeing as MW2's tightly controlled narrative is my only beef with that game, BC2's promised sandbox appeals to me a lot. The graphics (at least for the character in the above screenshot) not so much, but it doesn't look horrible so I'm adding it to my get list. #battlefieldbadcompany2

    @Communist Pope: The game looks great... don't sell it short.

    The sound design is also spectacular.

    If CoD were to ever steal anything from another property, it should be the fuzz out/ringing ears that you get whenever explosives go off near you.

    Also, considering the sheer size of the maps and the draw distance, the overall look is pretty fantastic. #battlefieldbadcompany2

    So I'm at Wal-Mart this morning, and I see a rack full of music games. There are lots of copies of DJ Hero on the shelf, so I decided to do this on a whim: I slipped a game, Ghostbusters for PS2 (bustin' on Activision makes me feel good!), behind the 360 Renegade Edition, as it's the RE version most likely to sell. I will go back next Monday to see if Ghostbusters is still there. I'm well aware that Wal-Mart may find it and put it back where it belongs, but that's a wild card in my book.

    Well, Dice did nail modern combat in Battlefield 2 and while it won't outsell MW2 if they don't rush BC2 and are really touting dedicated servers and mods and such I can see BC2 having longer legs than MW2 on Steam and Direct2Drive type services. #battlefieldbadcompany2

    I went to see Muse on Friday at the O2 for the Resistance Tour. Best live act in history, IMHO.

    So, you know how there are books (Crime and Punishment, The Fountainhead) and, to a lesser extent, movies (The Shawshank Redemption), to which you cannot realistically envision a sequel? Well, can you think of any video game about which you feel the same?

    @BigManMalone: Bioshock 2. Rapture is done for, and its story was told. It was a good game and the sequel feels very "tacked on". #talkamongstyourselves

    I disagree, *spoilers, run if you haven't played BioShock, it's great!* especially considering the "evil" ending leaves things wide open, granted that is not, presumably, the angle they are following with the sequel, but if they had wanted to make one, I could easily see taking the bad ending and going from there. If you just mean the plot they are currently going with, then yeah, maybe, but we will just have to wait and see how well they tie it in. #talkamongstyourselves

    @BigManMalone: I'm not sure where they're going with deadspace's sequel... I mean obviously theres a lot of universe to explore, but seeing as they destroyed the marker and planet in the end of the original I'm struggling to think of a scenario AFTER that event that warrants a sequel, short of another marker being discovered. Yet they are making a sequel, so we'll see...

    MGS4... being realistic, there's not much more to say about snake's life after the events of 4... any sequels at this point can only be based on other characters, or be prequels.

    as for titles I can't see ever getting a sequel? Gitaroo man is one of the few that springs to mind. #talkamongstyourselves

    Hmmm... two games to get in Jan (NMH2,ME2 and consider DV) while nothing in in Feb- System Shock 2 feels like some kind of cheap expansion pack to me, I'm fascinated by Conviction, but not sure if it's beyond a rental and Lost Planet 2 gets rid of single player.
    Then there's Final Fantasy XIII - unless there's some good sales, I'll just get it when I can actually find the time. Square can live without one RPGer buying their latest and greatest for their backlog.

    For a while I thought this was going to be much, much worse.

    So I've beaten Modern Warfare 2 on Veteran, gotten all of the Campaign achievements (excluding intel) but now I just need someone to go through Spec-Ops with me. I've already gotten a fair amount of the missions 3-starred, but if anyone is interested in plowing through some of those missions with me reply or message me with yo gamertag. That excludes it to 360 only, sorry. #talkamongstyourselves

    Edward Woodward passed away earlier today. People might remember him from the first Wickerman movie and from The Equalizer. I know I was way too young to understand the show when it aired but loved the music and something about it back then (watched it with my parents). #talkamongstyourselves

    People do realize that GOTY awards are given by different parties and they might have their own winners in mind which results in a slew of different games winning the award?

    There is no such body that governs over the decision to make a single game the one and only GOTY title out there. #talkamongstyourselves

    Well, there is a GOTY award that compiles votes from numerous web and print sources. Our very own Brian Crecente even casts a vote for that one. Can't remember what it's called, but it's the most revered GOTY that I can think of... #talkamongstyourselves

    Isnt that usually the case though? 3-4 games are touted to be the GOTY winners while a lot of the same games are winners in their own specific categories.

    @Save me: At times, yes. We tend to forget that the casual gamers are the ones who usually participate in these GOTY awards.

    If you gather a list of winners from casual and hardcore gamers, there would be quite the discrepancy. #talkamongstyourselves

    @Outkastprince: Not to mention the developers and publishers who put out Game of the Year Editions of the games. As long as someone, somewhere thinks it was the game of the year, people will make a fuss out of it (both for and against). #talkamongstyourselves
