<![CDATA[ Dress Like Niko Bellic ]]> I'm not sure if this is exactly what the star of Grand Theft Auto IV is wearing in the game (well at least one of his outfits), but Game Daily did a really good job of at least finding bits of real world clothing that look like what he's wearing. The breakdown, which somehow forgets Bellic's super cool shoes, include an $800 Faconnable leather jacket and would run you and me more than $1,100.

There are Virtua Fighter, House of the Dead and Sonic shirts. I quite like that hedgehog one right up there. The shirts cost US ¥1,500 (US $14.63). Oh geez, just look at that exchange rate. So sad. The shirts though, they're pretty cool.

<![CDATA[ You Know You Want Official Devil May Cry Cardigans ]]> The Devil May Cry series has been a lotta things, but masculine is not one of them. Something about all those exposed chests and red coats and wonderful haircuts. So it's poignant that the official Devil May Cry range of menswear - due to be released in Japan next month - will forgo hoodies and caps in favour of gear including a couple of exquisite cardigans and leather-pocketed polo shirts. With tiny, elegant belts attached, of course. They'll come in two styles (Dante and Nero), and at a price only the most fashion-conscious Capcom aficionado could bear to pay, with the polos priced at USD$75 and the cardigans at USD$105 (Nero) and USD$125 (Dante). Looks a lot, but for the convenience of having a belt on your shirt, it's totally worth it.

<![CDATA[ God of War Shirts, Heavenly Sword Boxers, Others On Their Way ]]> Sony today revealed that they have granted licensing agreements for some of their top games with four apparel companies. The result will be a slew of t-shirts, hats, boxers, even something called "loungewear" featuring the artistic stylings from such Playstation greats as God of War, Ratchet & Clank, Resistance Fall of Man, Heavenly Sword and Little Big Planet.

I can't friggin wait to lay about in my house wearing nothing more than a pair of LittleBigPlanet whitey-tighties under my silk God of War smoking jacket while I sip cognac and pass judgment on the gaming world.

IV Gear already has their list of games up, but no product pics yet.

So excited. List of companies and silly quotes on the jump.

<![CDATA[ Made to Order Pixel Art Beanies ]]> Reader Lukas writes to point out that a friend of sorts has started a small label for headwear that now takes orders for custom-designed hats. The site uses a pixel-like pattern for creating the custom hats which are, Lukas says, very suitable for making retro-gaming themed hats. He had them make himself a custom Space Invaders cap which set him back $70.

It might be a bit too late to buy these as presents, but that doesn't stop you from just picking one up for yourself. If you're interested hit up the site below, but make sure to contact them directly at info [ at [ idolwear.ch if you want a custom pattern.

<![CDATA[ Heelys Reveals Ugliest Game Shoe Ever ]]>

If there were a competition to make the ugliest shoes in the world. And if that competition had an entry that was so good at being ugly it was disqualified to give the other entries a chance: The Gamer would be that entry.

I can't figure out which I find more disconcerting. The sheer overwhelming fuglatude of these shoes or the fact that just don't make any sense what so ever. What the hell was going through their minds when they came up with this?

Brent: I know, let's take a pair of sneakers and slap the gutted remains of an Xbox 360 controller to the sole.

Frasier: Wow, grand slam Brent! Now, lets go roll around in the pool of money we made off of kids who like to skate on the back heels of their shoes.

I mean the complete stupidity of this idea makes me question the company's success with the Heely. Was it just pure luck? Do these guys have two buckets, one filled with shoes and the other with objects and then just pick one from each bucket and make things with them?

<![CDATA[ Foot-On New Mario Shoes ]]>

My new pair of Legacy X Nintendo 2007 shoes just hit the house. Yes, I ran out and ordered them the second Mike posted that they 400 limited run shoes were available.

I've only been wearing them for a few minutes so I can't really say how they will break in. They look quite nice and distinct up close, but mostly average from afar, which is what I like. They smell like someone emptied a can of spray paint into them, maybe two. In fact, they're right now giving me a headache, but I assume that will go away over time. The only other thing I should not is that while I ordered my shoe size, they feel slightly tight, so they may run a little smaller than normal.

While they're no replacements for my poor, worn out Space Invader shoes, they're still decent stand ins and I expect that once they're broken in they'll be fine. I particularly like the Mario and Yoshi buried under the rubber of the sole on the bottom of the shoes. Nice touch.

<![CDATA[ Touch Me? The Cheekiest Shirt of TGS ]]>

There was an entire hall chock full of merchandise at Tokyo Game Show: dolls, figures, toys and shirt. Mostly shirts though, tons and tons of T-shirts. While I love gaming shirts, they really have to be something special to get me to buy one. Mostly because I don't have the room in my house for anymore. When I was walking the halls last week checking out the merch this black Doki Doki Majo Shinpan shirt caught my eye.

Not only was it down right bizarre, it was for a game no one in the U.S. will probably ever seen. So yes, I bought it. What I didn't buy, though, was that shirt next to it. I mean, that's a finger there sneaking up her skirt and check out those freaked out eyes.

Remember those fancy Nintendo shoes that Pandamanda made with fabric pens and a pair of plain white shoes? I loved the art so much I paid her to make a pair just for me featuring what else but Space Invaders.

I haven't received them yet, but she just sent me a slew of pictures and I nearly passed out from how amazing they are. I like how from a distance they almost look like those checkered Vans. I had a pair of checkered Vans when I was in high school, but the cool just didn't take. Maybe it will this time around.

These set me back $130, which includes the price of the shoes. A very fair price for such ass-kickery. Pandamanda says she is taking orders, so if you're interested hit her up at PandaSneaks [ at ] gmail.com

Now the only question is will I have the nerve to wear these in public. And I think you know the answer.

<![CDATA[ PS3 Contest: On Picking The Winner ]]>

Okay! The contest is finished, and now we've got to pick a winner. Here's the vital statics so you know your chances:

  • 1,627 entries were received
  • 233 of those entries were either apologies for entering twice, random questions about the contest or just incomplete.
  • 1 forfeited for being under 18 years old.
  • 1,231 of those entries were incorrect.

Yup, only 162 of those entries got all of the answers correct. The killer missions? Mission #1 (answer: Wal-Mart, not any of the Japan launches!), mission #3 (answer: Six pika-faces) and the evil mission #4 (there are sixteen hats — they are sold in packs of eight!). So how are we going to pick the winner? We've ("we" being my wife and I) have written the names of those who got all the answers correct on post-its in pencil. The three year-old child you see above will pull one of these out of a Doraemon popcorn bucket. That's right, the fate of the winner hinges on Doraemon popcorn bucket and a kid in a monkey jacket. With Ultra-man and Gamera figures.

Check back later in the day when he announce the winner. Oooooooh, the suspense is killing me!

Remember those Playstation 3 shoes I was lusting over last week? The ones made by Nike? Well the unattainable shoes are, it turns out, attainable after all. Someone is auctioning one of the two dozen kicks with 100 percent going to some unnamed charity.

Currently, the price is hovering at just over $4,000. Oh, and those shoes are size 10, so even if I was rich, they wouldn't fit my tiny feet. Dammit!

<![CDATA[ Elite Beat Agent Shirts ]]>

Our very own Geek on Stun posts about some damn cool Osu! Tatakae!! Ouendan shirts that popped up on the backs of the developers for the game, also known as Elite Beat Agents here in the U.S.

The come in three fancy colors, midnight, lime and banana, and feature a little bubble that reads "Agents Are..." on the front and god knows what on the back. The suspense if killing me.

<![CDATA[ Ultra Limited PS3 Shoes ]]>

It's no secret to the avid Kotaku reader that I have a bit of a shoe fetish. I love the shoes. And yes, I know that makes me a big girl. My favorite pair, for the past year or so, are my limited edition Invader Sneaks which by some bizarre twist of fate happen to be number one of 4,500 pairs made.

While I think they will never be toppled from their perch, these super limited edition PS3 shoes are pretty damn nifty as well.

There are exactly 24 of these Nike Air Max 360/90 Hybrid shoes made. They sport the launch date on the heel and tongue, diagrams of the console on the inside and Play Beyond as well as a partial picture of the Sixaxis on the insert.

My guess is that they are, for all practical purposes, totally unattainable, which of course is why I want them.

<![CDATA[ Space Invaders Invade Dress Shirts ]]>

When Florian wears dress shirts (heck, when he wears clothes), he, she, it always makes sure to cover his/her/its freakishly pale body with puffy pirate shirts that require cuff links. What's Florian currently wearing in Kotaku Tower? Hardened chewing gum and a paperclip. If dear Flor ever thinks of springing from something "better," we do recommend these rad sterling silver Space Invaders ones on Etsy at US $35 for a set.

<![CDATA[ These Gaming Jeans Don't Come Between Us and Our Calvins ]]>

For me personally, any threads that scream video games are out. Game wear should be playful, subtile and everything these jeans are not. It's also the artist whipped up a buffet of retro gaming heros and slapped them on a pair of denim. Are the characters skillfully and brilliantly executed? Absolutely. Wearable? Well.

<![CDATA[ The Legend of Zelda Blue Jeans ]]>

DIY Japanese blogger Takuronyan's previous denim wonder was Mario. This go round, he's done a pair of jeans with Zelda's Link right on the seat pocket. Link just loves it when you sit on his face.
