They always come through with some of the greatest home made gaming crafts. This little Tetris cart clock sold for a measly $18, but if you have a little time and knowhow, you could easily make one yourself. All you need is an old Nintendo cart, a drill, some inexpensive clockworks (available at almost any store with craft supplies), a plastic stand and some glue. I've actually made a few clocks in my time (just ask any of my friends about Christmas 2002) and they are incredibly easy and cheap to put together and the results are always great. Try it, you may like it.

<![CDATA[The DIY Donkey Kong Clock]]>

Will D'angelo of the Wiicast website has created this amazing Donkey Kong clock. All the materials were purchased at a local art supply store for a mere fifteen dollars. He doesn't say where he acquired the images from, but it's not terribly difficult to come up with screenshots from one of Nintendo's most famous games (no, they are not hand painted). After putting the whole framework together, he created new 80's style retro hands for the clockworks to finish it off and... voila, instant retro gaming clock awesomeness!

<![CDATA[The Super Mario Brothers Wall Clock]]>

Website Tokyo Times took a trip to Japan's nerd gamer nirvana town, Akihabara and snapped a bunch of photos of the various gaming knicks and knacks for sale. The one that stood out the most for me was this awesome Super Mario Brothers wall clock. It's a bit hard to see in this photo, but the face is an underwater scene featuring a Blooper and a Cheep-Cheep along with the requisite Mario bricks and a second hand made to look like a flame bar.

At the moment I am furiously dialing Ashcraft so that I can wake him from his slumber and beg him to go buy me one. Hopefully he won't kick his wife in the face again in an attempt to answer the phone.

<![CDATA[The Retro Famicom Controller Alarm Clock]]>

Destructoid's dudes found this pretty swank retro Famicom Alarm Clock over at Think Geek. Best serving as a travel alarm, the clock features:

• Alarm clock looks like a classic NES (Famicom in Japan) Controller • Use the D-Pad and buttons to change modes and set the alarm • Alarm sounds from Super Mario Bros. • Built-in mini-game • Score high enough in the mini-game and unlock another alarm sound. • Built-in Stand • Dimensions: 5 x 2 x .8 • Requires 2 AAA Batteries. Not Included.

I like the concept of a mini-game to unlock another alarm sound. I'm betting on the Zelda theme — that would certainly make for a rousing start to a bleary-eyed morning. It goes for $25, which isn't too shabby.

<![CDATA[Wii Countdown Clocks Coming]]>

A leaked email reveals that Nintendo Countdown Clock will be hitting stores throughout the UK soon, unfortunately no one knows when they will start counting down.

I would imagine that the clocks have to start ticking down not too long after they are installed, so expect to hear some sort of Wii date in the coming weeks. At least, that's my guess.

<![CDATA[Clips: Pong Clock]]>

I just happened to get my Pong Clock in the mail on my birthday. It's pretty cool, though I'm a little bummed it doesn't have an option to run off of batteries. There's no way I'm going to be able to mount this on the center of some wall.

Other than that one let down, the thing is pretty darn cool, especially since it is just one of 400 in existence. Heck, even my wife likes it, and she hates everything game-related.

Hit the jump for a super short video showing the minute time change. The right side scores to change the minutes and the left side scores to change the hours. Or as I like to put it, I'm the minute hand and Ashcraft is the hour hand. You see, because I would totally pwn him at Pong. Totaly.

<![CDATA[Tetris Alarm Clock of Despair]]> tetrisclock.jpg

I suppose if you're a Tetris addict you'll want to pick up this little travel alarm clock, but it seems a bit to messy for my taste. It would be cool if it was a better reproduction of the game and maybe played a touch of Russian folk music to wake you up in the morning.

<![CDATA[Pong Clock of Awesomeness]]> pongish.jpg

Happy VD everyone. Hope yours is as special as mine is. My lovely wife surprised me with a coolio Pong clock. Well, to be exact, she surprised me with a picture of one.

Apparently the Pong Clock people have sold out again. She ordered this one in early January and was told that their second batch of clocks sold out in record time, but that she made the list.

I'm expecting the clock any week now. I'll make sure to post lots of photos and a review once it arrives.

Weeeeeeeeee! AI Pong, I can't wait.

<![CDATA[Pong Clock Sells Out in One Day]]> pong_sale4.jpg

Not that I was thinking of buying one or anything. No, not at all. But the Pong clock apparently sold out in one day.

According to the site s shop, the initial 200-run batch is gone. Fortunately, the three weeks it was going to take to get more special screens for more clocks has almost come and gone. Expect the orders to reopen any day now.

As pathetic as this is, I think I really want the clock so I can play a little handheld Pong. Sad, aren t I?
