Not the most obvious choice for a big screen adaptation, but there you go. Want to take a look at some dark, foreboding posters for the movie?

Well here they are.

Still can’t believe Capcom are making a Clock Tower movie before they make a “Super Joe” one, but then, it’s such an obscure license 90% of the people watching will probably have no idea it’s based on a game.

Which may actually be the whole point of it.

<![CDATA[Milla Heads Up Clock Tower Cast]]> Milla Jovovich just can't get away from scary Capcom video game movies. Having played Alice in all three live-action Resident Evil movies, Milla is now taking on the role of Alyssa Hale, the 17-year-old girl suffering from multiple personality disorder in the movie adaptation of Clock Tower II: The Struggle Within (Clock Tower Ghost Head in Japan). She'll be joining actresses Brittany Snow and Alyssa Jayne Hale on the film, with shooting kicking off next month.

This would have been excellent news for me last week, but at some point over the weekend they were showing Ultraviolet on TNT, so thoughts of Milla currently leave a very bad taste in my mouth.

<![CDATA[Clock Tower Movie Forecasts Snow]]> Further proof that a Clock Tower movie is really happening and not some sort of strange fever dream, Senator Entertainment has found their helpless lead character in the form of Brittany Snow. Most recently appearing in the remake of horror-classic Prom Night, Snow has also had a recurring role on Nip/Tuck as Ariel Alderman, played Meg Pryor in American Dreams, and also portrayed Amber Von Tussle in last year's remake of Hairspray.

None of those are important, however. The role that most gamers will recognize her by is the English voice of Naminé from Kingdom Hearts II, the mysterious young blonde girl who shares a strange connection with Kairi and Sora. See? The movie is gaining video game clout already. Brittany should do a fine job of spending two hours or so running from room to room and hiding from the nasty men with giant scissors.

<![CDATA[That Clock Tower Movie Is Actually Happening, Apparently]]> Last we heard about the Clock Tower movie was way back in 2006. Chilean horror filmmaker Jorge Olguin was supposed to helm the pic and When A Stranger Calls scribe Jason Wade Wall was taking writing duties. Well, all that's been scrapped it seems. Hollywood trade Variety is reporting that Senator Entertainment is set to produce the Capcom game adaptation for Weinstein Co. The script is being written by Eric Poppen (Borderland) and will be produced by Marco Weber and Martin Weisz (The Hills Have Eyes 2). Capcom's President Haruhiro Tsujimoto is set executive produce. Shooting starts this July.

<![CDATA[Hollywood Big Cheese Talks Silent Hill 2, Clock Tower Flicks]]>

Don Carmody, the man that brought us Rabid and Porky's (not to mention A Christmas Story and Weekend at Bernie's), has his hands busy with two video game adaptations: Silent Hill 2 and Clock Tower. Carmody, who won an Oscar for Chicago, produced the Silent Hill prequel as well, but has revealed that director Christophe Gans won't return to helm SH 2 as he's "involved pretty heavily in another project right now." What about Clock Tower? How's that coming along?

It's a tricky one to get. I became involved in the project about a year ago and I just felt they were going the wrong way. So I added my two-cents and they're trying to put it in. We'll see what happens there. Hopefully it'll develop out, not every iron you stick in the fire gets used.

Yah, but with Hollywood game adaptations, it's usually the sucky irons that get used. *sigh*

<![CDATA[Clock Tower Movie Details Tick-Tock Out]]>

The Clock Tower movie is counting off the seconds until December, when production begins. The film is being directed by some guy and being written by a team of some dudes. According to movie industry site Production Weekly, the plot centers on Alyssa Hamilton,"an ordinary girl with oridnary dreams who is about to discover a side of herself that she never knew she possessed." Here's how Production Weekly sums up the plot:

The supernatural thriller concerns a young woman who receives a disturbing phone call from her estranged mother warning her not to come home. When she investigates, she uncovers a terrible supernatural truth from her past... To save herself and these tortured innocents, Alyssa must unlock the mysteries surrounding the death of each soul. However, the legions of the dark world won't succumb easily. Alyssa must summon the sacred weapons necessary to banish these demonic creatures to the nightmare realms that spawned them before the clock tower strikes midnight.

I'm willing to give this director the benefit of the doubt and say that this movie won't "totally suck," but just "kinda suck." Yeah, I'm gun-shy. So what?

Ready for another horror game adaptation? Neither am I. That's not stopping Hollywood from bringing Capcom's Clock Tower series to the big screen. In the film's defense, the Clock Tower games focus more on hiding and escaping, which actually is perfect fodder for a motion picture. While the project's already changed writers (that's confidence!), a director has been found. Chilean horror filmmaker Jorge Olguin, noted for his shoe-string screamers (Eternal Blood, Black Angel). Clock Tower will be his English language debut and hopefully won't suck dirty socks.
