This movie just ends what may have been the year KOF died. This movie looks like all kinds of suck and KOF 12 was a unbalanced, piss poor mess that bombed so bad that even in China and Korea where KOF is huge (KOF 98 is still played to this day), the scene for the game doesn't even exist and the failure may have hurt SNK real real bad financially because of the money they put into it.
Its sad because I have been a King of Fighters fan dating back to 96 and I own all the games for the Saturn but King of Fighters XII was the worst fighting game of 09 compared to Blazblue and SF4. It seems SNK just rushed and put out a product that had no love or real care from the developers or input from the small KOF community compared to Blazblue and SF4 which had the developers listen and take input from their fans.
@legendnthemaking:KOF is so big that a well known group of RMT's that ran for a good while on FF11 on Lakshmi before getting murdered by the GM's was infamously named stuff like "Kofboss Kofmage Kofx Kofggg"
Somehow we knew without a doubt that they were China or Korea RMT's.
Its impressive they can make a Lego video that long, but come on, I think it would get boring after 5 minutes. Maybe if they split it into episodes, people might be more interested in watching it.
Even the trailer is poorly directed. Regardless, it looks like it's not quite Mortal Kombat Annihilation. I guess, if you're a fan, just grab you favorite substance, abuse it, and sit back and enjoy. Lucky me, I'm not a fan so I can just keep walking...
You know, somewhere there is a room full of adults looking at each other saying "You know what? This is great stuff! Best investment ever. Martinis anyone?"
@excel_excel: Damn it! Killing thousands, running from fanyboys, and now giving into your weaknesses by letting others control you followed by exploiting you awesome powers. This cliche ends NOW!
@Fossick: assuming it has some of the AVP2 modes, it'll do better than that!
AVP featured an infection mode where one team played as aliens, the other as marines... if an alien killed a marine then they'd be resurrected as a face hugger and join the aliens (upon killing someone as a face hugger you turn into a chest burster, then over time molt into a more formidable monster)...
It was awesome to slowly pick off marines who weren't cooperating and slowly amass an army that they couldn't stand a chance against!
That said, there's reputedly going to be a co-op mode which should be a little like L4D...
Plus I remember reading on the Dev forums last year that they were taking a lot of inspiration from L4D, so we might get a hoard mode too...
@exion: I don't want to seem like an ass but if AVP set the standard, they don't really need to take inspiritation from L4D as it seems they already had all these ideas in the other AVP games.
I really hate it when people forget other companies did stuff before L4D but still claim L4D is a godsend
@exion: Nothing better than the science lab level ending with the few marines still alive in the basement room just trying to hold on against insurmountable odds.
@Amarrex: That's all fair and good, though none of the previous AVP games featured you co-operating with friends against an army of AI controlled opponents...
Other games had similar mods available, but it was L4D that really brought it to the general public's attention.
THAT SAID, I might be getting confused between AVP3 (Sega & Rebellion) and Alien Colonial Marines (Sega & Gearbox)... it's been a while since I lurked on those forums.
@Spiderbait: lol, That was epic, though that damned mech suit can really make things frustrating for the alien hoards... That level would be infinitely improved if they had an air shaft that opened up behind the bottleneck to stop everyone hiding in the basement and spamming the doorway with the mech's endless fire...
@exion: "That's all fair and good, though none of the previous AVP games featured you co-operating with friends against an army of AI controlled opponents..."
AvP1 (Rebellion) had that, though these days I guess it would be considered a 'hoard' mode.
@Uchikoma: I stand corrected then I guess... I didn't play much of the multiplayer from the original (as most of my friends had moved onto the sequel by the time I got it) but still, there is a difference between hoard mode style waves of enemies, and L4D style progressing through scenarios whilst avoiding the hoards (I'd wager the former being more true of AVP1).
Still, props for the correction... I can't wait for this game and A:CM.
I have no opinion of the game yet, but I loooove when developers/publishers call their press events "Gamer's Day" when there probably were no regular gamers to be seen.

I'm pretty sure our universe is a little more robust than that.

Remove all scenes that do not contain copious amounts of nekkidness or ass whippings.
Do not give the characters names relating to the characters from the King of Fighters series.
Change the name of the movie from "King of Fighters" to "That Action Movie Where Ray Park Finally Talks."
Sell as a DVD director's cut.
Count money.

Now I must buy. I will do your bidding James.
