And yes, I will trade in Gears 2 for Zoo keeper if I can duel the rhinos with a Lancer.

Ya that makes so much sense.

Never mind the hardcore folks like us who are always looking for the latest graphical showcase (and we are worth billions nowadays) - even the "casual" gamers this bloke is chasing have a console made just for them in the Wii. And I bet that makes a lot more money than any dodgy online game...

On the subject, I've been known to play a "casual" game now and then. It'll never replace my "core" gaming, but I can't deny the awesomeness of Peggle and Luxor. Not to mention Puzzle Quest, the deepest casual title ever.

Sure the casual market's revenue per year is getting bigger each year but that can also be said to the enthusiast demographic.
Is this guy suggesting that EA,Take-Two,Sega,MGS and a other game studios close down or switch its focus to casual games? Yeah I'd like to see someone pay $60 for BeJeweled 6:Electric Boogaloo.
One more thing. Can we refer to "hardcore" as "enthusiasts" right here right now? It's less cheesy and sounds more in-line with what we really are.
I know I'm not hardcore. Maybe in my pants I am but certainly not videogame-wise.

I think PC will dominate the market, when new tech evolves faster than consoles can make a profit from, and the fact that consoles are static for 5 years, IMHO means a PC market will get better,
With the success of WOW, more people are open to PC games I think than before, Unfortunelty not many developers see this as the biggest market, I think Blizzard and Valve have the right idea.

The PC has had that tech evolution advantage since, well, always, but has never been able to dominate the market. I think the advantage of constantly evolving technology is negated by the fact that people can't stay on top of that tech. Only the hardest-core gamers update their computers more than once every couple of years. Many developers make their games for consoles for exactly the reason that you claim PCs will dominate; what you call "static", many people call "stable".
If anything kills consoles, I imagine it would be digital delivery... if the consoles weren't already figuring that out.

I meant it strictly as a hypothetical, pre-hard drive in consoles way. It obviously isn't going to kill the consoles we have now. They figured it out before it became a huge advantage for the PC.
So, you know, moot point.
