There Are Talks of MORE Street Fighter Movies

They're still making the Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li flick, and yet, there's already talks of sequels! The film's scribe Justin Marks, who's also adapting Voltron and HE-MAN for the silver screen, says:

There are always plans [for sequels]. We've seen this as being a really drawn-out way to explore the Street Fighter world. Start small, then go bigger and bigger, bringing in more characters and eventually spinning it horizontally to explore other threads and origin stories.

Meaning if this movie does halfway decent, we can possibly look forward to the likes of Street Fighter: The Legend of Ryu, Street Fighter: The Legend of Guile and Street Fighter: The Legend of Dan. They probably should've started with Dan. You can only go up!

Meditations Upon Chun-Li

Destructoid dares to ask the question: "Is Chun-Li a post-op transsexual?" Hard hitting and thought provoking, to be sure, but, you know. Meh. Her hands are big? yarly.

But it's as good a jumpoff for me to reminisce about the intersection of Street Fighter, my fraternity in college, and a case study in cognitive dissonance.

This happened back at N.C. State, where I was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon's Beta-Beta chapter. Names have been changed to protect the ashamed, but the frat nicknames are, I swear to God, real. Here goes.

Chun-Li Has Freakazoid Hands

Gah! Man hands! That's apparently the still-in-progress Chun-Li character image from the location test. Capcom's still finishing up and tweaking the images, sure, but geez, what is up with her hand and her thumb? She get bitten by a bumblebee? Makes her thighs look totally normal.

A blurry version of the completed work is after the jump. Something sticks out like a sore thumb, though. Literally.

First Street Fighter Movie Production Images

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li dropkicks an official movie blog. The first update provides a full cast list as well as info about the director ("Relax, you're in good hands"), actor Michael Clarke Duncan ("...this mand does ALL HIS OWN STUNTS...") and cockteasing about who will play GEN ("our first official scoop"). Though, I'm confused, how can the movie's official blog have a scoop? Should that be "first official press release"?

The blog does have some movie storyboards from artist Ted Boonthanakit. There's shooting and running. Don't remember shooting and running from the Street Fighter games, but whatever! Hit the jump for a look.

PansonWorks' Chun-Li Does Unusual Proportions Horribly Wrong

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong! Look, if you're going to go to the trouble of making a Chun-Li creation in polyvinyl chloride or ceramic or whatever, there are only a few things one needs to know to make it a success. Thigh circumference is twice that of the widest part of the skull, for one thing, and never make the legs the same height as the hands. The man shoulders—throw those right out, too. We don't have as much of a problem with PansonWorks other super deformed Street Fighter toys—Guile is just adorable—but this is an affront to more than just the license, it's offensive to the entire Peoples Republic of China.

We shan't be pre-ordering, Pansonworks. Good day to you, sirs!

Street Fighter Movie Finds Its M. Bison

Back in February, we brought word of the Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li movie cast. It went something like this: Michael Clarke Duncan ("Balrog"), Chris Klein ("Charlie Nash"), Rick Yune (Chun-Li's trainer) and Kristin Kreuk ("Chun Li"). While we also knew that the Black Eyed Peas' Taboo would be joining the cast, we didn't know which role he'd be taking. Today, Capcom announced that Taboo will be "Vega," and Neal McDonough (pictured) will play "M. Bison." The movie will be out in 2009.

Chun-Li's Chunky Legs Slapped On Ryu? Believe.

Sure, everyone's excited about Street Fighter IV, but what about that other new Street Fighter game? You know, the ugly online one for PCs. You know, the one that is controlled entirely by moving and clicking a mouse. Well! It may look like crapola, but Street Fighter Online Mouse Generation does offer something somewhat interesting: Players can switch out character body parts. So, you can put Chun-Li's legs on Ryu and have him perform her Spinning Bird Kick. Or put his arms and fists on her and have Chun-Li shoryuken the crap outta her foes! We like the idea of this, just as we like the idea of Frankenstein. (Well, before he frightened the villagers!)

Lana Lang To Play Chun-Li In Street Fighter Movie

ComingSoon is reporting that Chun-Li has been cast in the upcoming Street Fighter movie based on the character and that Smallville actress Kristin Kreuk will star. Guess that squashes those rumors that Jessica Biel will play Chun-Li. It's about the best we could have hoped for, given that Kreuk seems to be able to act. I'm basing this solely on the fact that she's been nominated for "best actress" in the Teen Choice Awards. Given that she's half-Chinese, according to her IMDB profile, makes the casting news even easier to swallow. Hopefully, the thigh prosthetics/computer generated effects will be believable.

Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li will be directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak of Doom and Exit Wounds infamy.

Kristin Kreuk is Chun-Li in Street Fighter! [Coming Soon - thanks, Daniel!]

Chun-Li And Ken Battle in 3D Korean MMO

Game site Insert Credit directs our attention to Korean MMO Perfect KO, which has Street Fighter's Ken and Chun-Li as playable and customizable 3D characters. What's more, the game's developer Neowiz is open to including character licenses from other fighters as well! As Insert Credit explains, the game is a 6-or-less simultaneous fighter with 3-on-3 matches and a survival mode. Beta test kicks off December 6th, and Ken will be playable. If more fighters are added, they should really call this fighter Neowiz vs. Capcom vs. SNK vs. SEGA vs. Tecmo vs. Namco.

Adult Final Fantasy, Chun-Li Cutie, Pac-Man Bra

Hrm. Sure, that kinda looks like Yuna from Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2. But that costume is "Fantasy Heroine" from costume site 3wishes, which also liberally borrows from Capcom's Chun-Li for its "Kung Fu Cutie" outfit. Isn't this kinda stuff copyrighted? Not surprising as this is the same retailer responsible for the naughty Princess Peach outfit as well as the Pac-Man bra. There was a Pac-Man bra? Geez, nobody tells me anything! All that after the jump. More »

Street Fighter Movie Finds Director

Another game gets another Hollywood movie. *Shudder* This has been long in the works, but like it or not, Capcom hasn't given up on the Street Fighter film adaptations. According to Variety, cinematographer-turned-director Andrzej Bartkowiak (Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, and Cradle to the Grave) will take the upcoming movie's helm, and the production will commence early next year. The script is getting a polish by hot scribe Justin Marks (Voltron, Green Arrow and He-Man). Good creds or not, just don't make it suck, 'kay guys? And put Jackie Chan in it. Thanx.

Street Fighter Script Reviewed

The original Street Fighter with Jean-Claude Van Damme was all kinds of suck. That hasn't stopped Capcom from green-lighting another SF flick. While the previous venture featured tons of characters from the game, the new flick revolves around one character: Chun-Li. Yup, no Guile, no Ken and no Ryu. Here's the plot in a duck press: Chun-Li's father works for Bison, who then kidnaps her dad when she's a little girl. She grows up, trains and goes after Bison. Balrog and Vega show up. It takes place in Hong Kong. There are minions. The end. Sounds like every other revenge film ever! More »

Jessica Biel? Is Chun-Li?

According to film site Latino Review, early casting rumors are putting 7th Heaven and Stealth star Jessica Biel in the lead to play Chun-Li in the upcoming Street Fighter film adaptation. The movie, scheduled to appear in 2008 from Capcom and Hyde Park Entertainment, will focus on series mainstay Chun-Li and not Colonel William F. Guile like the previous Van Damme vehicle. More »

The Hottest Chun-Li in Ohio

Sure, CES is going full steam as I write this, but there were other conventions this weekend that were just as important. For instance, Ohayocon, the largest anime convention in Ohio! That's right, out of all the anime conventions in Ohio, I'm 75% sure this is the biggest one. I'm also willing to bet was the only place in Ohio this past weekend where you could find randomly hot Chun-Li cosplayer, complete with too-small thighs and authentic Asian heritage! Actually that's pretty rare at any anime convention. Generally the hottest girls end up being underage or guys in drag. Or possibly both. More »

New Street Fighter Film Coming - Starring Chun-Li

Studios aren't willing to back the Halo movie but they'll jump on a Street Fighter movie staring some unknown Asian broad? We doubt it. But Variety says Hyde Park Entertainment and Capcom are preparing for another round of Street Fighting—did anybody actually see the first? Poor Raul Julia—hiring Justin Marks as the writer. More »

Chun-Li, Real Life Panty Fighter

This is the only picture we can show you on the top page (the risque NSFW stuff is after the jump). Akihabara's favorite cosplayer ANGELLINE has just released a few photo CD-ROMs that feature her dressed as Street Fighter's Chun-Li and doing an endless series of high kicks. It's not porn per se, but rather, a clinical look at her underpants. And yes, they're blue. More »
