<![CDATA[Here's What Final Fantasy XIII Chocobos Look Like]]> Chocobo! Those bird-like creatures from Final Fantasy games. The latest issue of Japan's Shonen Jump shows just how huge the creatures are in Final Fantasy XIII.

So big. The magazine also has Hope's summon, Alexander, and brings word that Final Fantasy XIII will come with Final Fantasy XIV beta codes when it goes on sale in Japan.

<![CDATA[This Year Sees Two New DS Chocobo Games]]> Square Enix has announced not one new Chocobo title, but two new DS titles: Chocobo and the Magic Storybook: The Witch and the Girl and the Five Valiant Men and Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon: The Labyrinth of Forgotten Time DS Plus. The Magic Storybook is a Chocobo adventure title, while Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon DS Plus is a DS version of Wii title Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon, which was released abroad with the localized title Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon. Regarding release time windows, Magic Storybook is slated for the Winter in Japan and Mysterious Dungeon DS Plus should hit this Fall. Hit the jump for very small Mysterious Dungeon DS Plus pics.

<![CDATA[Final Fantasy's Chocobo Goes Rubbery, Ducky]]> Foremost Final Fantasy fowl the Chocobo has been many things, but I'm frankly surprised it's taken Square Enix this for it to be a suitable rubber ducky replacement, as is the Uki Uki Chocobo. The feathered friend flotation device measures 2.95" x 3.54" x 3.54", according to importer National Console Support, and ships in mid-April. Uki Uki Chocobo follows the precious design style of the Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon series for the low, low price of $13.50.

Five bucks that rubber ducky enthusiast Phil Harrison's already put in for a gross. Friends and relatives should never again moan that I'm too hard to shop for, for this is all one would need to make bath time fun again. That and bubbles.

<![CDATA[The Littlest Chocobo]]> Busty Booth Babes vs homemade costumes aside, I think even Mr. Mc Whertor will have to agree that this is just about the cutest thing seen on the Comic Con floor. No doubt this is a store bought costume, but it doesn't take any points of the cuteness factor. Chocobo costume + baby=WIN!

<![CDATA[Clip: Chocobo Mysterious Dungeon Trailer]]> The new trailer for Chocobo Mysterious Dungeon for the Wii is out and really, who doesn't want to play a chicken bird Chocobo RPG that can hang out at cafes and swing in the park? It's got a birdie bitch-slap move for Pete's sake.

<![CDATA[Chocobo Coffee Mugs!!!]]> Square-Enix fans and hot beverage afficionados can finally agree on something, as the lovable Final Fantasy fauna mainstay finally makes its way to licensed mugs with the soon to be released Chocobo Magic Book Mug.

Fine importer National Console Support has begun taking pre-orders for these adorable Chocobo mug-bearing cups for the collector-only price of $18 a pop. Typically, I get my mugs for free, but my non-sexual crush on all things Chocobo might make me break.

Thinking about using some Dragon Quest slime silverware to stir my morning coffee in a Chocobo mug just sealed the deal. Consider these birds ordered!

<![CDATA[Chocobo Tales Dioramas]]>

GayGamer went all artsy with their latest contest, asking readers to create their own Chocobo Tales dioramas for a chance to win a copy of the DS game and a stuffed Chocobo.

Man, I haven't seen a diorama since I was in grade school. Some of the entries seem a little phoned in, but that glass one is simply amazing. We totally need to do a diorama contest on Kotaku.

<![CDATA[Chocobos In The Wild]]> This picture pretty much summarizes everything there is to know about video games in Japan.

In honor of the release of Chocobo to Mahou no Ehon, Square-Enix released a wild chocobo into the streets of Japan as people wearing a t-shirt that I MUST own most likely explained to the crowd not to make any sudden moves lest they lose an appendage to its massive, crushing beak.

The most we can hope for when the game is released here as Chocobo and the Magic Picture Book is a preorder plushie. Don't get me wrong...I love living in the states, but until there is short person in a giant yellow chicken costume on every street corner can we ever truly call ourselves the land of the free?

<![CDATA[The Blizzard Chocobo Scandal]]> I'm finding the cries of Chocobo Plagiarism coming from Burning Crusade beta testers a little bit hard to swallow. On the left, note a Chocobo... I assume from Final Fantasy XII. On the right, a beefy, testosterone-infused cockatrice, the Blood Elf race's new mount.

Yes, they are both birds. An astute observation. Similarly, you can ride one, just like you can ride an ostrich. But I'm not sure rideable bird is so unique a concept that it can be patented.

<![CDATA[Let the Chocobo Dry Humping Begin!]]>

It's the moment all Final Fantasy fans have been waiting for: red hot Chocobo breeding. Fans are quick to point out it breeding those big yellow bird-like FF horse substitutes was possible in Final Fantasy VII. Well, it was, but the breeding/raising featured in the online FF XI: Treasures of Aht Urhgan is like better and takes a page from the Spore playbook.

According to 1Up, players acquire an egg, each with its own unique DNA. Then players have to incubate it and check it daily for a month. The Chocobo's abilities and appearance depend on how the bird is raised. Hey, it's pure John Locke!

Square says, "Chocobos are very delicate creatures. The love and care you give your chocobo will have a major effect on its development. You should feed your chocobo when it is hungry, and spend time with it when it is lonely." When it reaches a certain age, you can have it bonk another Chocobo. The end result is another egg, from which *fingers crossed* hackers will make Chocobo omelets.
