@Moonshadow101: Universe isn't bad I guess, but I agree that it's pretty different from SG-1 and Atlantis. I think they tried to go for more of the Battlestar Galactica feel. (It's no where close to being BSG quality though).
@MrBounce: It's different for sure but I don't know, I like that. As much as I loved SG-1 and Atlantis, their greatness was sometimes lessened by the less-than-serious approach they took to them.
I loved the last episode before the break, it showed that this series, if treated right, could be great.
Right now, I'm still a bit skeptical though. I'm viewing it the same way I did Atlantis. In my opinion, that started off less than great but turned into a great series and hopefully, the same happens with Universe, having Robert Carlyle certainly helps!
@MrBounce: Tried and failed.
Honestly, other than Eli, only the Colonel is the only other character worth following. The show has gone out of it's way to interject the sex and character drama into the series at any chance. The whole thing with the pretty boy and Chloe started out tender, and in the literal first minute of the very next ep, they're doing the horizontal mambo with no explanation as to how exactly it went from being sweet to 9 1/2 weeks between these two.
The biggest mistake they made was taking Thanksgiving weekend off from a new ep. Gave me a chance to break the routine and stop watching altogether.
I came to watch a sci-fi show, not Melrose Place on a Ship.
Although i love the show,and really hope this is good.It still makes me upset that they have never made a proper squad based campaign focused Stargate game.
I mean,it really lends itself to something along those lines,and i was highly dissapointed when Stargate: The Alliance was cancelled...
Does anyone still give a shit about Stargate? I only saw the movie because it came free with a DVD player, and I've never met a single person who was a fan of any of the television spin-offs. Are the Stargate fans all just in hiding somewhere or what?

...Also, I'm pretty sure an Ashrak IS a Goa'uld, so fail.

It's not a terrible show, but it's not the same series.
