No, not the lady in the scarf, but the cat in the suit. That's Korean superstar Jang Dong-gun: Actor, musician, gaming spokesperson. Starting in January, Nintendo will feature the popular actor in DS ads starting in January. The Korea Times quotes a press release in which Nintendo says:

We picked him because he is a representative of people who don't look like a game fan at all.

It's unclear whether this release is from Nintendo Nintendo or "Nintendo" of Korea and what exactly a "game fan" looks like. Guess they don't wear suits or something.

<![CDATA[Miami Vice Star In New GTA (No Mom, Not Don Johnson)]]>

In the 1980's Philip Michael Thomas was hot. The heart throb was costarring on the biggest cop show on TV, recorded an LP and had three names. Philip Michael Thomas was on top of the world.

Then, Miami Vice went off the air. While co-star Don Johnson went on to other things like TV show Nash Bridges and sexual assault, PMT was left holding the bag. With film and TV opportunities few and far between, he signed on to be the spokesperson for Florida-based Psychic Reader's Network. He was eventually canned.

PTM rebounded, lending his voice to PS2 title Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The 57 year-old actor is back and will be playing the lead role of Lance Vance in the PSP title Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. The Rockstar Leeds production is supposedly a more solid outing than the previous GTA PSP game. And hey, it's got that dude that played Tubbs in Miami Vice.

<![CDATA[Missy Elliot Wore Mega-Man, Paul McCartney Went French]]>

Sweet singing Mega-Missy Elliot, side-kick Lil' Kim and rhyme dropping Da Brat escape badies in the video for Sock It 2 Me. The video dates from the Supa Dupa Fly album, when Missy worried more about music and less about waste line, Da Brat had yet to appear on VH1's The Surreal Life and Lil' Kim wasn't a convicted felon. Ah, innocence.

After the jump, Paul McCartney sings in French. His video for Ou Est Le Soleil is pure gaming homage. The song was featured on Macca's comeback album Flowers in the Dirt, because when you're going to make a comeback, might as well do it in French.

Thanks, Justin!

<![CDATA[The Beat K-Fed To A Bloody Pulp Game]]>

You're the bouncer of a popular nightclub, which means one thing: keep K-Fed out and throttle him good. While this flash game is truly tasteless (there's baby punching), K-Fed does actually put up a pretty good fight. Especially when he's hiding behind Britney.

<![CDATA[Spielberg: Gamer & Good Dude]]> steveandtom.jpg

Back in October, it was announced that director Steven Spielberg signed on with Electronic Arts for three games. Well, how's the creative process going? Electronic Arts LA's Neil Young sat down with Gamasutra's Brandon Sheffield and dished on working with the famous filmmaker.

Basically, it's Steven, Doug Church who's producing his first game, me, a couple of the designers, Ryan Church [no relation to Doug], who did the walkers for War of the Worlds, so he's worked with Steven before. So we sit in a room, and we've been going through the story of the first product, and what we really want to center on. And then we take the game features, and try to tie all those things together.

Young also says the moviemaker comes into the office every week, is "pretty conversant in the medium" and "he plays a lot of games." Sounds like Spielberg is bringing more to the project than simply name recognition. Good on 'im. —Brian Ashcraft

<![CDATA[Kotaku Stalku: D.M.C. from Run-D.M.C. at E306]]> rundmc.jpg

Bust out the Adidas kicks and Kangol caps. Xbox-centric Gamertag Radio interviewed legendary rapper Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels as he checked out Gears of War at E3. D.M.C.'s not really a gamer. He talks and talks about things like being an honorary Dominican for five years. Non-sequiters abound, D.M.C. talks a lot.

<![CDATA[E306: The Death of the Party]]>

Last night while we were kicking it with Shiggy at the Nintendo party, Microsoft held an uber exclusive party at the Roosevelt Hotel. Invitees included rapper 50 Cent, actor Ben Affleck and a bevy of beautiful people. The soiree took place pool-side, until the wee-hours of the morning. Here's the aftermath—hung over and without make-up.

<![CDATA[Jay Leno Taking His Cue From Kotaku (A Month Late)]]> Cool. Ranch. Doritos.

Last night on The Tonight Show, Jay Leno did a bit on things sold on Ebay. The audience has to guess "sold" or "not sold." One of those listed was an Xbox 360 packaging box, going for a whopping $810. The entire audience guessed "sold." This might be old news for Kotaku and The Tonight Show audience, but apparently not for Jay Leno.

<![CDATA[Can't Get Phoenix Wright? Marilyn Manson Can]]> Bad taste

US cable channel E! interviewed a buncha celebs recently to find out what games they play. Marilyn Manson said that he'd "bought a Nintendo DS a couple of weeks ago," adding that it was "pretty neat." The shock rocker went on to say he was "pretty good at Mario Kart" and that "this little Japanese lawyer game" is "fucking amazing." Just like the rich and famous to get first dibs even on out of print titles like Phoenix Wright. His outfits may suck, but at least the man's got good taste in games.
