Some owners of the Fallout 3: GOTY say the game won't recognize their hard-earned game saves from the original Fallout 3.

According to reports from Kotaku tipsters affected by the save and posters on Bethsoft's official Fallout 3 forums, the problem appears to be limited to folks in Canada (with one from Sweden) who have the PlayStation 3 version of the re-release. Limited though it may appear to be, the inability to play with characters cultivated over dozens or hundreds of hours in the complete Fallout 3 package is understandably frustrating.

Fortunately, Bethesda Software appears to be investigating the issue.

"Wanted to let you know I've been working with folks here at the office to investigate the issues with GOTY in Canada," assures Bethesda's Sr. Community Manager. "When I have more details to share, I'll let you know. Stay tuned."

So, buyer beware, especially if you're from America's hat and have invested heavily in the original version of Fallout 3. Kotaku readers, who's having similar issues? Who's getting along in the wastelands without issue? Let us know in the comments.

Thanks to Wolfsong, Evan and everyone else for the tips.

<![CDATA[Users Report EA's Fight Night Round 4 Freezing Up At...]]> Xbox 360 owners are venting on the official EA forums (and our tips line) that EA Sports' Fight Night Round 4 is locking up and crashing at the game's loading screen. A fix (of sorts) is seeing some success.

While those complaints are typically vocal, they appear to be somewhat limited—the forum thread currently has only four pages worth of responses—and may be possibly related to custom soundtrack files or Fight Night Round 4 demo files on Xbox 360 owner's hard drives. It appears that some Fight Night fans are working around the problem via various solutions offered by EA support. But that doesn't make for a happy customer in all cases, as some gamers are grumbling that the same lock up issue was present in the boxing game's demo, released ahead of the retail version.

Having the same issue? We'd recommend hitting up EA support and expressing yourself on the official Fight Night Round 4 forums. Thanks to Adam for the heads up.

<![CDATA[Tales Of Horror From The Circuit City Liquidation]]> While the closure of Circuit City may mean excellent (and not so excellent) deals on video games and electronics, it can also mean buyer remorse. Especially when one considers the "All sales are final" policy.

Reader John tells us his tale of nonreturnable woe, a massive disappointment to the tune of $7.50.

"I went into Circuit City today to capitalize on their misfortune, and saw a copy of Resident Evil 4 for PS2 on sale for $7.50. Upon waiting in the checkout line, I saw a sign that said, 'All sales are final.' I figured it was fine, because, for seven bucks, you couldn't go wrong. Well, you could."

John continues. "I got home and opened my purchase to see this monstrosity of a game disc. Also I can't play or return it. All I have to say is: 'Shit.'"

Buyer beware. And if anyone sees "Danny"—who probably also returned a no-longer-working paper shredder to the same Circuit City—make sure to give him the world's most painful charlie horse. He deserves it.

<![CDATA[Get 3 Months of XBox Live from Amazon for ... $1,200!!!!]]> Reader Thomas M. sends along this steal - fuck, it's a heist. Not only is it $1,200 for a 3-month XBL sub, it's also a *used* card. And you still have to pay shipping.

If you really look at it, though, that's $400 a month for Xbox Live, and really, how much do you spend on booze and Internet porn in a month? You know, some antisocial experiences are worth a premium. Make Xbox Live yours.

Watch me find out this isn't a typo, and is in fact some new pricing structure coming down the tubes from Microsoft. Next up: Microsoft points available in quantities of 62, 27 and 4.67 - for $90, $45 and $15 respectively. Note to fanboys: I am fucking kidding, OK?

<![CDATA[Thieves Charge 15,000 Microsoft Points To Victim's Live Account]]> You might want to think twice about keeping your credit card information stored on your video game consoles, especially after reading the cautionary tale of one Xbox 360 owner who unwittingly bought 15,000 Microsoft Points for a bunch of thieves. The story of Clinton's bad luck combined with bad judgment is a bit of a scary one. The Canadian gamer writes that he was robbed to the tune of about $25,000 when someone broke into his residence, swiping his Xbox 360, games and computer equipment, as well as the keys to his truck.

But it's the Points he's pissed about.

While his insurance covered the majority of the loss, the one thing he couldn't recover was the hundreds of dollars in Microsoft Points charged to his credit card, via the information stored on his Live account. Oddly enough, he says he was talked out of canceling his credit card (bad, bad idea) by a customer service rep at his card company, resulting in someone else enjoying the entirety of NHL 08's downloadable content.

Unfortunately for Clinton, Xbox Live customer service reps told him that "it can take up to 30 days to remove credit card information from your account, and up to 5 years for that information to be purged from Microsoft servers." Might not be a bad idea to see if you can wrest some of that control back in your direction, folks.

The full harrowing tale is recounted at Evil Avatar's forums. I'm definitely going to check up on my stored financial info on my three current-gen consoles. Convenience be damned! Just kidding, I didn't mean that, Convenience. You know I still love you.

<![CDATA[Guitar Hero III Wii Disc Swap Plan Leaves Gamers Discless]]> When Activision shipped Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock for Wii sans promised Dolby Pro Logic surround sound, audiophiles were pissed. Rightly so, we thought. The ensuing replacement plan, which would provide affected Wii owners saddled with mono sound with a replacement disc, was welcome, but was soon followed by the bitter taste of bad customer service.

Now that those seeking a remastered copy of Guitar Hero III are getting their fulfillment forms, they probably find themselves thrice screwed. Seems Activision will take a good three to four weeks to supply Wii owners with a working-as-promised copy and only after they've sent in their current discs. No doubt those in possession of the Wii version of the game will enjoy staring at their empty DVD cases for a good month.

Looks like another case of EA and MTV getting something right with Rock Band, with Activision leaving customers high and dry. Thanks for the pics, Mike.
