    Yeah...the only Castlevania games I've played since Simon's Quest are the DS games, and none of them have been particularly difficult, OoE included. Dracula, for example, was a complete pushover. My combined glyph strikes on him did about 900 damage each, and he was dead in less than ten seconds. That's at level 45.

    This game was not hard.

    With the right Glyph combination...it is legitimately possible to beat the final boss without taking a single hit.

    Please, please never use the mashup "metroidvania" ever again.

    @Michael McWhertor: Why does it even exist? The first Castlevania was released only about a month after the first Metroid. That term implies that Castlevania ripped off the Metroid formula, but there's very little time window for that to have happened originally.

    @Michael McWhertor: Lame come back. I must not be as hip as you. Today was the first time I've seen it. Just because something has been around for a long time doesn't mean everyone should accept it yeah?

    @Eville1 says SKUse me a sec.: Or... just because everyone else uses the same word for something, and that word describes the thing perfectly, we suddenly have to come up with a new one because a couple of guys on Kotaku's comments threads haven't heard it before or don't like it?

    I mean, I don't like the term 'RTS'. Especially since most RTS games are more tactical than strategic. But, you know, everyone knows the term, it describes the games well enough, people need a common lexicon in order to understand each other. So I ignore it. :P

    Difficult? Compared to the new Prince of Persia, maybe, but Ecclesia's no tougher than Circle of the Moon, let alone the pre-SotN Castlevania games.

    I didn't much care for the storytelling (far too verbose and redundant, but it's not nearly as bad as a Final Fantasy game) and level design (combining the blandness of post-SotN with the linearity of pre-SotN).

    @emag: I'll have to disagree. And I've been playing Haunted Castle lately. Ecclesia's bosses do insane damage.

    @A.B.A: Clearly you havent :P these boss fight are brutal, most require a lot of dying to beat. Like usual, once you have the patterns down then theyre toast, but due to the almost every boss having at least one "get hit twice and you are very dead" attacks the patterns are very unforgiving.

    Fun game, totally worth the buy, but be prepared to grind through the boss battles

    @glokidd:

    The difficulty in this game is a bit overblown. There are only a few bosses that are obscenely hard. Most you can get through after a try or 2. The shadow-boss, however, will make you very angry. Bring lots of potions. You'll need them.

    @nlangan:

    agreed, once you get the jumps right, it's not that bad. i think people feel he's so difficult because he picks his attacks at random and sometimes throws out two a once. i had a harder time with that damn crab in the light house.
