"While many are obvious, such as "Turn Off the Console When Not in Use" when used in conjunction with tip number two ("Buy a Wii") you'll find yourself saving the planet at an amazing rate. I think you get me."

Congrats, Michael McWhertor, you have written the best paragraph in the entire existence of Kotaku. Applauses.

This isn't the first list I've seen telling people to turn off their game system to save power, which forces me to ask, are there people who actually leave their systems on all day? And why would you do that?

    5.Dispose of Mangled Systems Properly

If your system breaks or gets stepped on and cannot be repaired, never throw the system into the garbage. Most modern video game systems contain toxic chemicals, such as beryllium, bromine and phthalates. Make sure to dispose of it with other hazardous materials. Local used video game stores or fix-it shops may be able to take the broken machine off your hands and cannibalize materials from it.

No! There is no way I'm throwing out the mangled remains of my ZX Spectrum! Never! Even if it will never work again!!

Er, please define 5 times more power. If I play a Blu-Ray game, isn't it sucking the same power? I mean, 5 times more power watching the blu-ray on the PS3 could be the difference of well, almost nothing.

Also, which player is "standard" so far?

Personally if I didn't watch them on my PS3, I'd get a drive for my PC and watch them there - taking almost exactly the same amount of power according to my measurements.

I bet you feel smart. I don't see the trouble people have in grasping global warming.

    Green house gasses cause heating.

Burning coal emits green house gasses.

A degree or two of difference in certain areas of the world can cause devastating effects.

Climate change may be partially natural, but we are contributing.

@TheDJ17: Whether or not you believe in human caused climate change or not, it's still stupid as fuck to waste electricity that you'll be paying for within 30 days. Plus, there's all that "burning coal to create electricity, among other things, causes pollution" stuff, and the only people who don't agree on that apparently live in an iron lung. Or the Midwest.

Don't ask why, but I've had long in-depth discussions about it, and we came to the conclusion that the power of the heart ring is actually superior to the other four. It grants him, we inferred through his ability to convey emotion, the capacity to manipulate emotions, and hence, drive people to a gamut from bending to his will to perhaps even suicide.

Telepathy is a powerful tool, as is emotional manipulation.

All else failing, talking to animals is kind of cool too.

What you might not be aware of is a tip targeted at PlayStation 3 owners. Discovery notes that watching a Blu-ray movie on your console sucks up "5 times more power than watching it on a standard Blu-Ray player."

Maybe that's why my electric bill this month was three times higher than last month. Oh well, glad I got a standalone Blu-Ray player for Christmas then.
