i really think there needs to be some investigation on how unstable the game is when played with a ATI GPU. damn that physx engine and damn the MS live addition to the game. If i wanted MS live i would have bought an xbox #batmanarkhamasylum
@Nefilim: Sorry to read that you are having troubles with the ATI.
Granted, I can tell you now that PhysX is the shit! Here's hoping that you can upgrade to at least a GTX Geforce GPU with CUDA or SLI. #batmanarkhamasylum

@Soldier_CLE: I have no interest in re purchasing a new GPU considering i just bought myself a 4870. I hate proprietary software, especially in gaming. Its just not necessary to limit certain people to play or force the ones that cant to buy specialty parts just to play one game.
@Nefilim: That might be a developer issue, since it is understood that PhysX might not work for everyone.
To be honest, it were one of the reasons why I had switched over all of my computers to nVidia, since I had the feeling that something like that would occur. In the past, I had ATi cards because of the Powered By: Radeon games out there, as well as wide support (then) for Radeon cards.
Since the PhysX engine came out though, I found it worth the investment. While I were replacing everything from laptops to the home server that automates the house controls, it worked out well for me. (Granted, I still fail to see how my PhysX fits in with dimming the lights, monitoring the house and locking the doors.)
Now, if I am right, Arkham Asylum (PC) does have the option to turn off PhysX (like a few other games), since it can take up resources on your GPU (roughly 128MB - 768MB, depending on how much GFX RAM memory you have.)
Again, sorry to read on that. But look on the bright side: At least you aren't using an Intel GMA Graphics Chipset! #batmanarkhamasylum

Those are cool skins. One of the other things that I'm enjoying on the PC version is the great PhysX effects. Turning PhysX on high really let's you see some amazing stuff, far more than Mirrors Edge.
@Realmjumper: I completely agree. I just happen to have a couple of gtx285's, so for now it's a bonus, but as cool asPhysX is, it won't be enough to stop me from buying ATI/AMD next time if the perfomance is there.
Before Ghostbusters came out, the devs of that game showed some incredible physics demos using a core 2 quad, and a core i7. I can't remember how many objects and soft bodies flying around, but it was impressive. No frame drops either. #batmanarkhamasylum
I was so psyched when I unlocked the Armored Batsuit but disappointed when I realized it didn't grant any actual bonuses.
I really wish that Rocksteady would start releasing alternate Batsuits as DLC that not only changed the way the player looks but also how they performed.
A functional Batman Beyond suit that let you turn invisible temporary or shoot rapid fire battarangs would have been tres amazing.
These are the few times I wish I did more PC gaming. Then I think of how much I've saved by switching to consoles and quickly stop caring. #batmanarkhamasylum
@deanbmmv: I know, right? It's not like you can turn a pc into a gaming pc for little more than the cost of a console+hdtv or any some much. #batmanarkhamasylum
@M*A*S*H: I know right.
You can pick up a GTX for like £100 with a free copy of Arkham Asylum thrown in.
People would pay that much for MW2.
Its amazing how many people don't know that;
Normal PC + Graphics card = Full HD gaming PC.
Let along the aforementioned savings on buying games n mods n such.
And HDTV's do DVI and HDMI in so you can game on your PC, and use a 360 controller if you want.
It's awesome. #batmanarkhamasylum
@nonpareil: You can easily assemble a gaming-quality computer these days for around $500-700. You save money on the games unless you only buy used on consoles, and you can hook it up to a TV if you want that "home theatre" experience. PC gaming in general tends to be a little bit more expensive due to the upgrading every few years, and there are maintenance costs, but it's not nearly as expensive as it's made out to be, especially in an age where people are buying two or three Xbox 360s because they keep failing just out of warranty. Plus, remember that everyone these days needs a computer. Might as well get a good one instead of a console and a shitty $300 HP.
@deanbmmv: Right on. I built a pc to hook up to my hdtv and left consoles behind. If you buy the right parts, pc gaming doesn't have to be expensive. Plus, if you shop online or buy from D2D or Steam when they run specials you can get games dirt cheap. #batmanarkhamasylum
@( shake cows, win a ) Milkshake!: All he started was people correcting him on a common misconception. How about instead of spreading something stupid let's point out that it's wrong and stop. #batmanarkhamasylum
@M*A*S*H: @deanbmmv: @searanox: @davincij: c'mon guys, there are pros and cons to both console and pc gaming. Personally, I don't game on my PC because I hate having to do a bunch of setup work like getting a controller config to work properly or if it isn't supported, then having to use a third party app. I don't mind at all not having to deal with DRM/Copy Protection on the PC when I boot up a console and just play. Mods also aren't always the highest of quality, and often find myself not bothering with them. No constant tweaking, no anti-malware junk running in the background, there are numerous negatives to PC gaming.
Cons to console gaming is fixed hardware limiting graphics and physics, and if you don't like how a game is set up, you may or may not be stuck with a control scheme depending on the developer. Slightly higher game prices as well, but on the plus side you don't have to tie the software to an account, activate the software, dongle the software, have the software install ineffective anti-piracy software/malware, and all the other headaches that come with it. I'd gladly pay $10 more for console games to never have to deal with that shit any day of the week.
Adding the price of a HDTV to console gaming is stupid, do you folks add the price of HDTV to PC gaming as well? No, so lets not tread that ground ok? #batmanarkhamasylum
@Moonchilde: None of us added the cost of a HDTV to gaming we just corrected the fallacy that you're tied to a small screen with PC gaming.
And you don't 'having to use a third party app', There is Steam, but not all games are Steam.
"no anti-malware junk running in the background" - that's part n parcel of owning a PC, not exclusive to gaming on a PC.
Though with comments like "Ohh god! You've given the PCfags a reason to start coming out of the woodwork" I don't even see why we bother showing folks a cheaper more comprehensive way of gaming when we could just start a major FUD campaign n keep folks like that out of our games.
The PC gamers in this thread have just tried to be helpful and done nothing to bash console gaming, just clear up PC gaming fallacies, yet you have console gamers come in and act like that. Have fun playing with guys like that.
p.s many PC gamers actually game on multiple platforms, not as exclusive as many console gamers will be. #batmanarkhamasylum
@Moonchilde: Why is adding the price of an hdtv to console gaming stupid? Even the most basic of today's desktops come with hd ready lcds and have done so for years.
I'm not bashing consoles; I own every last-gen system and a gaggle of handhelds. In my view, PC gaming is superior only if you're willing/able to put in the extra time/effort it requires. If not, well that's fine.
What I do like to bash though, is developers pandering to the mentally unencumbered, rather than seeking to lift them up with strong narratives and nuanced, compelling gameplay. Oh, and those who defend charging for p2p multiplayer and overpriced, undercooked dlc.
I was under the impression these new skins only worked with the demo. Can any one confirm this?
EDIT #1: Confirmed in the Official thread. These mods only work in teh Demo version. Yo Mike, you may want to add that to your article so people are aware.
