@Torgen got 99 problems but the PAXFlu ain't one: What I meant was quality online play. I haven't gone online in a Wii game for a long while SSBB so maybe it's been improved but is there still friend codes, shotty service and lag and all that?
Im enjoying Reflex a lot! First and foremost, the game looks better then it did on my Pentium 4. Second, I'm having lots of nostalgic fun replaying the game and even more so replaying the multiplayer. I think the existence of Reflex helps prove that the Wii is indeed capable of FPS experiences that are provided on it's HD counterparts, but if people want or even need them, that's another problem all together. Me, I'm in FPS heaven. I'm doing it all over again, but with Wiimote pointing controls, something I always dreamed. My favourite FPS on my chosen games console of this generation. Win/win for me. #callofdutymodernwarfare
@Shiryu: I might actually pick this up! I didn't know it was such a faithful port.Right now, though, I'm playing thru Metroid Trilogy, and those games are so gorgeous (especially 2 & 3) and control so well that I wouldn't trade them for anything. I actually stop and look around every room just to soak in all the detail that Retro put into the environments. These MW2 Reflex graphics looks so flat in comparison. Goes to show that good design can overcome a system's shortcomings. The Wii may not be able to do realism, but if you play to it's strengths, it's capable of bewildering. #callofdutymodernwarfare

GriefTroll: I Love You. Here's Why was unstarred
@GriefTroll: I Love You. Here's Why: It's not MW2, its the original. "Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex Edition" to be precise. It is not as colourful as Metroid Prime trilogy, but the controls are there, spot on (and fully customisable) I assure. You wont regret the purchase, even more so if you never played the original 2 years ago. =) #callofdutymodernwarfare
@Shiryu: Yeah, I realized it was the first one after going to look up reviews. Haven't played that either... not the biggest fan of the genre, but I still might give it a go. #callofdutymodernwarfare
@GriefTroll: I Love You. Here's Why: Its worthy for the Single Player Campaing alone, but after that, the online multiplayer will keep you hooked for years. Worked on me.=) #callofdutymodernwarfare
Y'know, for all the haters out there, I think the Wii version looks pretty good considering what they have to work with.
No, really. Sure, its missing some rain and looks a little blockier, but the spirit of the game seems to remain intact. And considering my first Call of Duty 4 experience was on an SDTV, I can't say it looks THAT much different than what I played through before. #callofdutymodernwarfare
Speaking of comedy, I'd like to see shots of the 360/PS3 vs. the PC. Heh heh.
(Yes, I realize the difference wouldn't be quite as glaring. Just making a funny. I can't even play the damn game for three more hours because I happened to prepurchase on Steam before noticing the late release.) #callofdutymodernwarfare
@Strangelove: I played CoD4 on PC maxed out on my 8600GT, and it looks pretty much the same as the PS3/360 versions. Just higher res. #callofdutymodernwarfare
@NarooN: 1080p is a pretty big difference from 720p. It would also (presumably) include increased texture resolution, shadow filtering, anti-aliasing, and possibly DX10 or other improved graphical effects.
I'll let you know in 15 minutes when the Steam version FINALLY unlocks. #callofdutymodernwarfare
@dowingba: Hey now, that's a bold claim. I mean, MP looked fantastic, but honestly, let's not go there only to have you realize that a game that old isn't as good-looking as you recall.
@dowingba: Metroid Prime looked amazing when it came out. That statement still holds of quite well today. And, Metroid Prime came out on the little cube that couldn't. That's the most impressive part. #callofdutymodernwarfare
@dowingba: Gotta agree. Landing down on Tallon IV for the first time was probably one of the biggest jaw-drop moments I've had with a game. Just hits you all at once. atmospherically perfect #callofdutymodernwarfare
@andrewd86: And let me tell you, it's no less jaw dropping the second time through. (I'm playing through it for a second time right now -- actually the Metroid Prime Trilogy version on the Wii, which is an absolute dream with the enhanced Wiimote controls.)
@dowingba: I recall not being particularly impressed by the game's graphics. Some of the effects were quite nice, particularly the in-helmet view which added greatly to the game's atmosphere. #callofdutymodernwarfare
@Decoy_Doctorpus: The Wii version adds a few more visual enhancements. The most noticeable, for me, being that whenever there's a bright flash nearby you can see Samus' face reflected in the visor. Which is ridiculously cool. #callofdutymodernwarfare
@dowingba: I'm pretty sure it happened on the GC version too... scratch that, I'm 100% positive the GC version did the same thing... #callofdutymodernwarfare
One thing this video doesn't make clear is the framerate apparently gets pretty abysmal when the action ramps up. (Disclosure: haven't played it myself.) I'll take muddy textures over an inconsistent framerate any day, but apparently here we get both?
I love the Wii (I dust it every day, thankyouverymuch), and I love the sheer ambitiousness of this port, but I think the people who will buy this game won't be tuned into the COD franchise. If they were, they'd be playing it on another platform, assuming they can afford it. #callofdutymodernwarfare
It was actually not as bad as I was thinking it'd be.
The real question though: Is there a SIGNIFICANT change on the fun factor while playing both?
Of course more advanced textures, effects, lighting... higher polygon count, shaders, etc etc etc are all good.
But you know. I'm still playing 5yr old Counter Strike: Source and still having fun with it, even though there are tons of newer FPSs with better graphics, physics and stuff (some of which I also play and have). #callofdutymodernwarfare
@-Skyline-: Offering FREE Grunt Birthday Parties!: "How is this like Pistol Whipping a blind kid?" umm... because the comparison is unfair. Sooo... yeah... she obviously didn't/doesn't expect it to look like the PS3 version.
@-Skyline-: Offering FREE Grunt Birthday Parties!: How so? You have a star, and I'm just a starless-peon, so I'm most likely missing something. #callofdutymodernwarfare
@-Skyline-: Offering FREE Grunt Birthday Parties!: He didn't win "idiotic comment of the day" really, but is a nominee for "know-it-all jackassery of the week." #callofdutymodernwarfare
I found this unbiased article MW2 pc multiplayer recently and wanted to share it because it represents a calm head of reason that details quite well both the pros and cons of the pc version.
I get the feeling that most who really wanted to play CoD4 already have by now one way or another. On top of that, the wii's online infrastructure just sucks. Regardless of how you feel about the wii otherwise, don't even try to pretend that its online capabilities are even half as good as Xbox Live, or even PSN.
People have had 2 years to get a chance to play CoD4. They've had plenty of opportunities to either upgrade their PC or buy a 360 or PS3 if they didn't already have the ability to play CoD4. So basically, this game is aimed at hardcore wii loyalists that refuse to play another console or use their PC for gaming, and have been anticipating a wii port of COD4 for the past two years, keeping up their interest in the game that entire time. Either that or wii owning kids with irresponsible parents. A wii port for CoD isn't a bad idea in itself...but I can't imagine this will be very successful after all this time. #callofdutymodernwarfare
@Goldwings 2.0: The RE4 port added a bunch of stuff that wasn't in the original. I looked at the page for Reflex to see if it did the same. As far as I can tell, the only real addition is giving a crosshair to a second wiimote so somebody can give you support fire. It's a nice gesture, but not exactly a compelling reason to pick up the game a second time. Plus, the wii RE4 was a graphical UPGRADE from the last version, not a downgrade. Don't get me wrong, Reflex is pretty impressive for a wii game, but it's still a downgrade. #callofdutymodernwarfare
If you hit the "High" button below the video to the left, it worked past the 20 second mark for me.
As for the game itself, i was actually pleasantly surprised, it looked better then i thought it would. Sure the Wii is no PS3, we know that. It's what developers can do with the art styles of games that make them look impressive on the Wii. #callofdutymodernwarfare

And the game will still sell about 4% of what Wii Sports will sell over the console's life-span. #callofdutymodernwarfare

The Gamecube version was graphically superior, while the PS2 version have additional content.
The Wii version was the best of both worlds though, so it's understandable that it would sell well.
Modern Warfare on the Wii is just a pure downgrade though. #callofdutymodernwarfare
