It's just like GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas. It's not GTA 3, 4, and 5. It's GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas. Then 4. If we go by the logic of what some people in here is talking about, then Feb. 19 is the release date of Street Fighter, like, 22 or something.

Thanks for posting Owen. There are a few dead giveaways that it's a fake.

1. COD5 doesn't exist. There's no game out or coming out that has that title.

2. It links to Charlieoscardelta.com, which is no longer active.

Basically it's an exact replica of the COD4 beta invite I sent out during that beta, just with replacing COD4 with COD5 references. Lame phishing or virus ploy.

@moosknuckle37: I was just on my way to reiterate this point. Glad I found your post first. Infinity Ward makes COD's deserving of actual numbers in the series. Treyarch develops their spin-offs and cash-ins. I'm another among those who get irked when people call World at War COD5. They (Treyarch) had their shot with COD3 and good lord, I won't touch World at War simply because of my experience with the former. I came over from the PC, and was sorely disappointed. A lot of my friends like the new Call of Duty, and I understand it does things better than Treyarch's last attempt, most likely due to the utilization of the COD4 engine.

By all means, everyone please enjoy World at War all you want. I can't say whether it's good or bad because I'll never play it, but please stop stepping on all the purists toes. :P

I could see a lot of people falling for this. Wouldn't it be great if it turned out it was actually the COD5 beta and IW are trying to keep a lid on a leak.

@Kymeira: Comprehension is just as important, I agree. My comprehension of it is that there are 5 games in the main COD series. There is a portable title seperate from the main series and there are ports related to the main series as well as an expansion for the first game in the series.

My point in posting the wiki article was to show that the people who equate COD:WaW to be the same as COD5 weren't completely wrong.

WaW is NOT COD5. The only reason you are calling it '5' is because it was released after '4'. By that logic, GTA4 would be GTA11. Stop fucking calling it that. Put down the controller, learn some basic math, and count all the previous installments before your beloved COD4. Trust me, I'm the one who personally sends out this stuff. It's an exact replica of the COD4 beta email I wrote when we did 4's, except they replaced all reference of COD4 with COD5.

@Rokashi: If you ask me, the only reason they didn't call it COD 5 was because Modern Warfare was still selling pretty well, and they didn't want to interfere with the cash flowing in by releasing a game with a greater numerical next to its title.

@Chanaluss: Actually, if you REALLY want to get technical, then there's something like two COD 1 ( PC version and Finest hour) then there's two COD 2 (PC Version and Big Red One).

Then for some reason COD 3 doesn't make it to PC, so the two 'series' gets merged at this point since afterwards every title went multiplat.

Modern Warfare is obviously COD 4.

Logic tells me that WAW is COD 5.

Not that it really matters to me either way. But while I don't think there'll be a numerical to Modern Warfare II, I think it would be ridiculous for the next numbered entry to be COD 5 afterwards. They probably should just ditch the numerals altogether and give them all nice little subtitles.
