@harPOONedwhALE03: Mine too. My cousin though. The conversation basically went:
"You coming to my game?"
Buying the map pack
"Why?!? Aren't you buying MW2?"
Well, yeah
It's good to see that console gamers get a bit of a break on the map packs but you have to ask yourself, why is this happening just now?
It would have made more sense to do this some time around summer as then more people would be tempted to buy the maps since MW2 would have still been a good length away.
Now, half the people who didn't buy the maps will probably not buy them now since MW2 is coming out. #callofduty4modernwarfare
@zombienemy: That's the one place where Treyarch beats IW, they continue to support their games after launch. For World at War, we've had three map pack releases and plenty of bug fixes, but there are still a ton of bugs in COD4 that it seems IW are just too lazy to patch up.
I suppose they're busy working on MW2, but would it have killed them to fix a couple of glitches in the two years that the damn game has been out? #callofduty4modernwarfare
Infinity Ward's base will already have CoD4 along with the map pack. I can't imagine that they will make any significant last minute profit from this price break. Still, some profit is better than no profit.
Hmm... I'm wondering if Infinity Ward could garner some sort of good will by simply letting anyone who hasn't downloaded the maps yet to be able to get them for free, not that they NEED any good will since they have such a good track record as it is. #callofduty4modernwarfare
@latecustomer: Their reputation has taken a bit of a nosedive with a lot of people in recent times, I'd say they could definitely do with garnering some good will. #callofduty4modernwarfare
@zombienemy: It's probably because they didn't really have to try to keep people hooked, people were hooked anyway. In the case of W@W, there were a lot of people who weren't happy with Treyarch and Treyarch had a lot more to prove, in fairness to them, they supported W@W pretty well. #callofduty4modernwarfare
@-MasterDex-: Post-launch support for Modern Warfare was nothing short of a joke. There's something unsettling when your entire clan asks for members to delete the maps so we'll never have to play them. #callofduty4modernwarfare
They are totally worth it. Creek, Broadcast, and Chinatown are easily my three favorite maps in COD4. A steal for five bucks, and thousands of people will still be playing for a long time to come. Not everyone immediately burns their copy when the sequel comes out.
You can still get decent games of COD2 going, especially during prime gaming hours. So certainly COD4 isn't going anywhere anytime soon. The numbers will take a hit sure, but those die-hards that are still trying to prestige or get the last unlocks will still be there, and all the folks that can't afford to or just don't want to buy the sequel will still be there, and of course all the people that realize that an awesome sequel doesn't negate the quality of the original will still be there. And then COD4 will likely move some new copies as well by folks that want to get the backstory of MW2's single-player mode. #callofduty4modernwarfare
The only map I liked from that map pack was Chinatown.
But then again PC COD4 gamers get them for free. Hopefully IW won't change that trend. It would be a bad road for them to go down since they've already made so many online enemies. #callofduty4modernwarfare
damn that's great, I always watch the credits to every game I beat, but I never got around to finishing the single player campaign. Multiplayer was sweet though.
@mind in rewind: Yea, but that's not a good excuse or anything. A dev. team that talented could do that in their sleep. They have no good reason to not be doing it. That game stayed 59.99 for so long, they pretty much owe it to the PS3 user base and everyone who bought it.
i got on Call of Duty 4 today for the first time in months and was greeted to douchebaggery of the highest degree. guys in walls and on top of buildings. i got pissed and turned it off.

@Mike's Stalker: I think it's really jarring to switch between the 2, at least when playing Search and Destroy.
WaW emphasis more sneaking and picking off people cause you have a lot more cover to work with on every map.
But MW everything moves a lot faster and you can't hide. Usually it comes down to just being able to out run and gun your opponents or setting up good choke points.
@omgwtflolbbqbye: Yeah, in that way I kinda like Wold At War 's gameplay more. I love the feeling and weapons in Modern Warfare, though. Hopefully Infinity Ward doesn't completely ignore Treyarch's work on the series. A lot of the improvements Treyarch made were pretty subtle, but they definitely had an impact on the game.
@FreakyFavabean: You raise a fine point and I agree however I'm sure I.W has some new things they want to try and away from Treyarch as much as possible (that is until Treyarch takes their engine again).

If you didn't buy the map pack by now, why would you buy it in the face of it's monster sequel :P #callofduty4modernwarfare

I hope the scale of the MW2 multiplayer game follows or blows away WaW's benchmark in those regards.
