@sunpop: Because they feel that their perspective has precedent over another person's life.
Let people decide who they enter into contract with, and let churches/cruise lines/whatever decide who they will do ceremonies for. But that would allow people to actually, y'know... let everyone be free over they're own bodies and establishments. #weddings
@Hey_Blinkon: I dislike all religions equally, thank you very much! Impeding scientific progress, perpetuating homophobia and misogyny, and starting almost ever war ever. YEA RELIGION! :D #weddings
@roguemarvel: Agreed 100% -- actually, two of my friends are getting married this weekend, and they both happen to be female (fortunately, it is legal where they are) -- and I'd never refer to it as a "lesbian" wedding -- it's plain and simple. That's like saying you like "black" music.
@liammiller18 : yes, they get paid by hit -- and AJ has a history of insulting posts to drive up the hit count. #weddings
@roguemarvel: ok so i went to the original article and its titled "Lesbian Gamer Geek Wedding" So its not really AJs fault, I just wish she would have changed the title. I also wish offbeat bride would have picked a different title, unless that is what the brides really wanted. #weddings

@Soldier_CLE: Actually this is gonna sound weird to you, but you are right, my emotional response to the OP and you actually does contribute to an obnoxious or harsh environment and I wasn't calm at all when I wrote them......... but something that I do find pathetic is the last paragraph you wrote,it made you look from a normal rational person to disrespectfull arrogant ......no offense. #weddings
Actually, what most posters here have forgotten is that it doesn't matter to me what people think of my tone when I post anything. There were a hint within that last paragraph that I'd have thought maybe you'd have gotten (but seemingly failed), in that there are ways to quibble on here that do not violate the terms of service. Is it condescending? Maybe some can construe it as that, but others might interpret it as encouraging babysteps.
It's for the reader to decide, yet ultimately from an objective point, it does not show clear and concise text in being obnoxious, since it holds enough reasonable doubt. Not everything witty need to fall off the scope of the TOS/FAQ.
Now do you understand? Think of it as a means of example, if you will.
EDIT: Back to what I mean on "I don't care" -- The classic version of me on here (when I earned my first three Gawker stars) were a bit more cynical, a lot less unforgiving and very very politically incorrect. Finishing out "Free Expression Month", I figured I'd exercise this for at least till the end of the month, in all of it's proper abrasiveness. No one need understand it. It's fine if no one does. But it is my thing, and I'm sticking with it.#weddings

"Revolutionary Girl Utena-themed wedding"? Now correct me if i am wroung here, I only saw the movie like 4 months ago.
But isnt REV girl utena the one where the one gay guy goes to an all girls school to fight the one other guy who happens to be there because of a past old gay tension between the 2 and accidently envolves another girl who becomes this like masked hero but then becomes a lesbian of the rose, but then her Gf has some freaked out dream and some how enters the lesbian hero and rides down an elevator located somewhere in her body, but then something happens and the 2 embrace each other in a garden of roses and the movie is about to end and BAM a car washing machine shoots out and takes the lesbian masked hero and transforms her into a car and then they drive off this long windey rode and fight robot cars and motorcycles and then the castle becomes a giant rolling fortress but then the bike brakes and its the end and the 2 naked lesbian chicks drive off into the sunset ontop of 2 wheels and some pipes?
THATTTTTT "Revolutionary Girl Utena" !?!?!?!
HOW IN THE HECK DO YOU THEME A WEDDING AFTER THAT perfect definition of a RANDOM Japanese animation? #weddings
Well......I don't have a problem with lesbians. But it's not doing any wonders for my perception on girls that play games. Because im hoping that video games don't get the same rep as cars, paint-ball, and (to a monty python esquire extent) 19th century lumberjacks.
Where the few girls that have a genuine interest in it are either a lesbian, or are deterred because they have the perception that only lesbians do it.
Its the same reason why not as many guys go into fashion design, or hair styling. As tolerant as people can be, no one wants to be in an area where they are forced into an environment where they are misinterpreted.
Yeah, this one example isn't going to hurt the world's perception of girls that play games, but it sure isn't helping....
Wait...wait, am I reading this...correctly? Are you saying that girls that play games are Lesbians? Please tell me that this is NOT what you are saying.
I just...wow....I don't know if that's sad or adorable....I think it's a little of both.
I don't know if I should Burn Knuckle you about this...so I'm going to ask you again.
@Rachel Fogg: I was sitting here thinking "I kind of want to respond to this guy, but I'm not sure I want to promote his comment by responding to it". So thanks for making the decision for me! ;-)
Seriously - I hope it's an elaborate joke that just fell flat, but if it's serious, it's a really weird assertion. You think girls are going to be put off gaming because playing games makes people think they're lesbians? Not mentioning that the average non-gamer girl on the street isn't going to be reading Kotaku and/or other, similar outlets, and thus likely isn't going to see the story in order to somehow be put off gaming, it's hardly the normal image - I think I can safely say that these are the first two lesbian gamers I've heard of, with a third declaring themselves in the comments thread, and I've heard of and met plenty of girls who play video games. (Hell, my girlfriend's a bigger gamer than I am, really, and has been all her life.)
On one hand, we're living in an era where increasing numbers from non-traditional gamer demographics are picking up DSes and Wiis and WoW subscriptions - not all of them are gay! On the other hand, recent surveys have concluded that nearly 100% of gay people breathe air and drink water! #weddings
LOL! I didn't want to promote him but I had to say something...the comment just REEKED of this could be a child or something. It seemed so....immature, like Jonas Brothers or Nick immature.
Now I'll admit, I've fondled and kissed a fair share of the wimmens....but I'm positive that I'm straight, I could NEVER defect. Not that there's a problem with being gay, I just know I anit.
Are there girls that game that are lesbians? Yes, I know several. Are all girls that game ARE lesbians? No.
That being said, to say that lesbians will detract women to videos game or girls that game ARE lesbians is hilarious...I'm not even mad or offended.
To attack this guy...it's like kicking a puppy, it's a easy kill. If you want to respond to him, be gentle and use small words. You might frighten him away.
@hippo24: I'd say that the ratio of lesbian gamers to straight female gamers probably IS a little higher than the overall ratio of lesbians to straight women in the general populace.
I'd also say that slight differential would in no way rise to the level that anyone who automatically prejudged a woman to be a lesbian just BECAUSE she is a gamer, should not be viewed as a stereotyping moron. #weddings
@Rachel Fogg: @Bichatse: @robinandtami: Wow you guys totally fell for it. hippo is like a teen delinquent, he stirs up trouble just because he wants attention.
Either way it doesn't matter if their lesbian or not, they had an awesome Gamer wedding so that should be enough to dub it Awesome.
I'm also surprised no one has said this yet but, THE CAKE IS A LIE! #weddings
@Rachel Fogg: Did he say that? No. Just like he didn't say that guys going into fashion design are homosexual. He said that this was just the perception of society. Don't let your emotions get the best of logic. #weddings
@robinandtami: No im not saying that everyone thinks a girl that touches a controller is a lesbian. Im saying that a person who sees a a girl that plays games a fanatically as the next "Hardcore" person, they are going to have their suspicions, unless disproved.
Im talking about hardcore in the sense that your wedding cake is a companion cube, not "ohh Ive played peggle before". #weddings
@Rachel Fogg: You asked if he was being serious, then proceeded to be extremely condescending. I'm not defending stereotypes, only politely pointing out that you should get off his back. #weddings
