3 months ago, I dumped a whole history of consoles on ebay:
Atari 2600, NES, SNES, GB, GBC, Master System, Genesis + 32X + Mega CD, Saturn and finally a Dreamcast. I sold them with the usual bunch of classic games for each console: SMB,Sonic,SF3..etc.
Sometimes you just have to let go!....Or the wife will force you to :-(
I keep almost all my old games unless a friend or sibling expresses interest in one of them at which point they are given out as a kind of permanent lend.
If the mood strikes I can always go back and play the classics, like I did recently with my SNES Tetris Attack.
The Ebay value of an old title would rarely ever make me sell off a game I thought was worth the cash in the first place. Then again, money talks....
With a few exceptions, I save most of my old games. Some games that I had little to no interest in to begin with, I'll sell off to the gamestop. Battlefield Bad Company, which was ok, but not worth keeping I sold off. Besides, when this generation starts to die, today's AAA games will be on sale for 5$. Gameboy Advanced games for example are cheap, many of quality, and readily available.
If they are something that I don't like, I send it by way of the local community centers.
If I don't like the game but thinks that someone else might, I donate it to the local Ronald McDonalds.
If I like the game, then I simply keep it. It helps me maintain a collection from the generations of games that I have kept, while not making me regret getting rid of what I do. (I replay ALOT of games.)

I keep everything unless it's utterly horrible or was a crappy gift. I like my game collection... I just wish I kept the cases better before the PS3/Wii Generation.
*glares at Yu-Gi-Oh! Game collectiong "gifted" to me after my cousin finally got a girlfriend* SELL SELL SELL
I keep them nowadays but back in the PS1/PS2 era I sold and traded in a lot to :
a)Get money for newer gamers
b)Get money for weed
I regret both reasons. I don't know what the hell happened my Snes or Mega Drive, I think my parents got rid of them when I was at school before or gave them to some cousins. I still have a big box full of spectrum and Commadore tapes though (300+)
Unload them? Why would I sell my precious old titles in the midst of the great belt-tightening of aught-nine? What else would I play without them, flash games? I say bully to that, good sir.
I'm touch and go. I'll trade in the occasional stinker I may have suckered myself into. By stinker, I usually mean the game is good, just ends up being not my style or too much game for me.
Like Fallout 3 and Last Remnant. Too much game for me. I'm 35 with a baby due next month. I just don't have that kind of time anymore.
Reality bites.
Other than that thought, I am the proud owner of quite the collection. I even have arcade cabs!
Well, I used to trade in all that I could to get a new game but lately I've learned to suck it up. I like having a nice collection more than instant gratification, and to that end I am done trading in games.
