ah well, i suppose we get broken steel around the same time that we would have done but honestly, this is now the THIRD time bethesda have irritated me unduly... >:(
first by postponing the DLC, second by promising it in june and failing to deliver it, third by postponing what must SURELY be only a fairly simple port for so long! and whats all this shit (excuse the french) about HOPING it'll be out by the end of september?!?! What the HELL can be their reasons for this?!
ick... i need to go lie down and pray they dont rip the shit out of us AGAIN late september ¬_¬
At least they're getting broken steel first now. I probably should have waited for it on the 360 version before I did The Pitt/Operation:Anchorage. I lost out on a lot of experience, and I can't bring myself to try and level up any more.
I knew this shit would happen. I frigging KNEW IT AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
And WTF does this mean for the GOTY edition? WTF WTF? I am so trading this game in today. UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGHHHHH
/I am sorry everyone, for being an idiot. I just can't believe this. I knew it'd be pushed back, but this is ridiculous. It's a frigging port of content that already exists. So, so, so disappointed in Bethesda. Again.
@Curse_Lily: Now that I have my inner fangirl sated, I think I will. It's been rough going lately. Day 8 of quitting smoking cold turkey. I have a lot of pent up rage.
@Bialia: Besides the disappointment you took the words right out of my mouth. Well, any news is good news and it was only half expected to stick to schedule.
I mostly just feel like an idiot for having all the platforms available and picking the one with the delays...
@Shandy706: Countless other games are ported or released multiplat with little drama. And Bethesda's communication on the matter has sucked from day one. I wouldn't be so pissed at this point if they had handled it differently from the start. At the end of the day, in spite of everything I really was looking forward to this DLC. They made a good game, and I wanted more. Now I'm so annoyed with them, I don't even want to hear the name Fallout for a while. And when this content is released, in the midst of the fall-holiday rush, behind schedule, it's probably gonna perform completely below expectations and they'll write the PS3 off as unprofitable, again. A self fulfilling prophecy if I've ever seen one.
This doesn't have much to do with the DLC, but is anyone kind of getting sick of the monocolored graphical schemes? Brown and gray are bad enough. Do we need every color in a game to be shade of blue now? Do developers even realize that they CAN use more than one color at a time? I don't know about the rest of you guys, but to me monocolored color schemes don't make a game "artsy". They just make it annoying to look at.
IIRC, the game actually has a ton of color to it. There is a filter in place that washes it out, for a cinematic effect. The PC version has a mod that removes that effect.
@RockyRan: The colors don't bother me as much as the lack of variety in the objects. It would be nice if every single room I search didn't ahve identical lockers, shelves, terminals, boxes, machinery, etc.
"At least they have a date"? Didn't they already have one? June? We know how that turned out. "Hoping" for a late september release doesn't sound like much of a reliable schedule to me.
Anyway, Bethesda will also be hurt by this delay: releasing the DLC in the midst of the busiest trimester of the year is the best way to ensure nobody has the time to play it (and thus buy it) amongst the onslaught of new titles. No matter how good the DLC is, it's still for an "old" game, and we gamers aren't renowned for our wide attention span.
Well, at the very least, it looks like Broken Steel will come around when it's supposed to. BS being first makes sense, really, what with the level cap raise.
PS3 owners should just mentally push this date back to somewhere around the beginning of October to account for the inevitable bugs that will be coming with all this DLC.
This is great and all, but what I really want to know is when an "Ultimate Greatest Hits Edition" of Fallout3 will be released with all the DLC included.
@TaggarT6: That would be the Game of the year edition. Usually, greatest hits copies offer the initial game at a cheaper price while GOTYs have extras in them.
Enjoy waiting. Fallout 3 is still 50-60 dollars depending on where you go to buy it. On top of that, when Mothership Zeta is released, there will be a total of $50 in just DLC. It will be a long time before we see a GOTY edition or something of the sort with ALL the DLC included.
Wasnt it announced a few weeks back that a GOTY edition of the game would come out for the PS3 which bundles all the DLCs in one package as stated in the bullet points: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallout_3#Retail_versions
Also isnt Fallout Las vegas coming out in the Fall?
I appreciate Bethsedea putting out great DLC for their games but its a running and not exactly funny, joke now that everytime DLC comes out from them its broken. I'd make an obligatory joke at how the current DLC's name is all too fitting but enough people have stomped that ground.
It'd be nice to see them further test these things before putting them out. I rather see slight delays than these inevitable "Its out but broken..,....ok now its fixed...ooops hold on...ok now...wait wait....wait...ok now seriously its ok" situations.
I still think they're a bit overpriced. £8.50 (buying in 1000's) for each DLC, £25.50 (?) for them all. Add on the £35 I spent on the game and I get a bit upset ]:
The other two are a little bit overpriced for what they contain (OA is basically a FPS in the fallout world... I guess the Pitt is an alright buy) but this one is a must have.
One of the bonuses of having OA is when you beat it, you get Power Armour training. So you can be a brand new character, beat it as your first mission, and be stomping around the wasteland in big ass armour long before doing the questline for the training (which you would normally have to do).
But this expansion adds quests and questgivers throughout your whole game and Fallout world, as well as a Brotherhood of Steel questline at the endgame. Along with new weapons, armour, etc etc.
Not to mention raising the cap to 30 with new perks you can choose. Hell, one of the two level 30 perks turns you into an atomic bomb, making you mushroom cloud (killing friend and foe alike) if you drop below 20 health. Hi-larious.
@Komrade Kayce: The level cap boost, new enemies and weapons, and open-ending makes Broken Steel a no-brainer, but some of those new perks are a waste of time and valuable Perk spaces. The three alignment-shifting ones? Useless.
The Perks ARE kinda lame... I mean 'Puppies!' is alright, and becoming a mini nuke, but the ones that improve your stats (if they stink) and the alignment ones (as you said) are stupid.
You should know how to become whatever alignment you want by then, and also should have pretty good stats.
@Komrade Kayce: I forgot about the stat buffers. Yes, also a waste - not to mention they're nearly game breakers. It kind of defeats the purpose of building a character if in the end you can nearly max out all your stats. No Weaknesses is okay, I can deal with that, but the other one? No thank you.jpeg
