So how does Runescape snag top honors? One need only look at the remainder of the list to understand that a special cross-section of the populace is using Yahoo! to search the web. Half of the list reads like the front of a supermarket tabloid, with Angelina Jolie, Lohan, Alba, Miley Cyrus, and this year's number 1 search - Britney Spears. Number 2 on the list is the WWE. Of the whole list, the only two that really make sense are Barack Obama and Naruto, two characters I never thought I'd have to mention in the same sentence.

What does this say about Runescape players? I'm not going to speculate, as there are a lot more of them than there are of me.

<![CDATA[Predict Spears' Death, Win a PS3]]> britdead.JPG

Today's media scum don't write for newspapers, or magazines, or tabloids, they don't even write for blogs or websites, no they just create one-off, single page tablogs that feature a prominent Digg button and morbidly titillating content.

Take for instance this site: When Is Britney going to Die? Sure, they don't know how to use capitalization in a headline, and their design is essentially a picture, a graph and a form, but hey, they're giving away a Playstation 3 if you can predict the exact time of Britney Spears' death, down to the minute. Classy.

<![CDATA[eBay Buyers: Wii > Britney's Hair]]> In news that certainly won't help Ms. Spears' custody battle for her offspring, it appears that Nintendo's Wii is heartily trouncing Britney's hair—in terms of eBay consumer interest that is. While the rest of the list looks about accurate for off-eBay console buzz, to see Britney's hair performing so well against big names like Sony and Microsoft, it really makes you root for the underdog. Oh yes, this is news.

<![CDATA[Britney Shaves: Gamers React]]>

The only thing sadder than Britney Spears shaving her head in some misguided attempt at regaining, I don't know, something, are the hundreds of Sims created to gimmick the new, balder Britney.

Searching the Sims 2 returns more than 200 Sims created to look like Ms. Baldy, including this one. So, very, sad. And don't get me started on the Anna Nicole Sims.
