The modeling was light and the cosplay often stuck somewhere between frightening and confusing. Here, you be the judge.

<![CDATA[NCsoft's Heroic Booth Babes]]> At a largely booth babe-less show, one MMO developer has the sheer guts to hire an aspiring actress and a model to represent City of Heroes.

There aren't many booth babes at Comic-Con, mainly because the fans tend to include pretty girls in skimpy outfits, and there's nothing worse than a professional model feeling she's being shown up by a preteen wearing a hideously-colored wig. It almost seems silly that NCsoft forked out the dough, but they did manage to do a pretty fine job. Mind you the Suicide Girls are here as well, but when your entire booth is nothing but booth babes, you revert to simply babes, and therefore don't really count.

Incidentally, the blonde super heroine is a San Diego cheerleader and aspiring actress, has had a guest spot in Entourage and soon to appear in Showtime's Dexter, proving once again that blondes have more entertainment value. The tall, dark-haired woman is a model, who has appeared in various model-related places.

<![CDATA[How Much Did Booth Babes Make During E3?]]> They weren't everywhere like they used to be, but the return of booth babes to E3 was still noticeable. Noticeable for the boobs, but also for the hard work many of them put in.

Take Bayonetta lady, for example. She looks resplendent in photos, but in the flesh, that suit looked uncomfortable, not to mention restrictive. But the girl was up there in it, all day, posing for shots, big smile on her face.

Yvonna Lynn, who runs the Charisma+2 Booth Babe agency, says that on average, the ladies in costume "tend to average $20 to $25 an hour" working a show like E3. Put in seven hours a day for four days and that's $560-$700 a week. Not bad, but for the work some of these girls put in, not great either.

<![CDATA[E3 Casting Calls: Muscle Men, Bikini Babes]]> E3 2009 is just weeks away and with the event once more open to models companies are starting to look for folks to distract gamers from their games.

Superannuation took a quick dig through LA's Craigslist to find a couple casting calls: One for bikini models, the other for a muscular man. Which do you think pays more?

Need tall, muscular male model
I am in need of a muscular caucasion male model between 6'4" and 6'6" who lives in or can travel to Los Angeles to work at a video game convention called E3 on June 2-4. You will be compensated $25 an hour. You don't necessarily have to play video games to be considered, but it is a plus! Please email me a full body photo and a short bio if you're interested and I will provide additional details. Thank you!

Female Promo Models Needed
Video game publishing company needs several bikini models for the E3 Expo to help promote our booth. The event is three days long:
June 2,3,4-2009
$200/day, 7hrs/day
Please send resume and head shots. Thanks!

<![CDATA[2009's Cosplaying Arcade Game Booth Companions]]> This weekend wrapped up arcade show AOU 2009 in Chiba, Japan. The event was held at the Makuhari Messe, home of the Tokyo Game Show. Besides arcade games, the event featured cosplaying booth companions.

Bonus points for those who can spot retro gaming idol Haruna Anno and gravure idol Shiori Kawana!

<![CDATA[Booth Babes Get Their Own Calendar]]> Earlier this month Yvonna Lynn contacted me about her modeling company Charisma +2 Models. Charisma is a company that specializes in providing models for gaming events who know their way around video games.

It's a smart idea that seems to be doing quite well at shows like the Tokyo Game Show. She said she sent out a very small batch of these calendars to select clients as she prepares for 2009. I'd like to think more U.S. shows and events will worry more about how well a model can demo a game and less about how they look in a bikini. But Lynn feels she has both covered.

<![CDATA[Russian Booth Babes Defy All Cold War Jokes]]> OK, last time we did this, we annihilated a web site. So this time, I'm hosting it as a gallery. Thank me later. But Russia just had Igromir 2008, which is its version of E3, more or less, and reader Innes noticed some fine photojournalism coming out of that. Now, if E3 is reconsidering its toned-down, library-quiet, de-sexed version of this year's convention, might I suggest hiring some of these booth representatives from the former Soviet bloc. Holy Bolshevik. Thank God they're holding controllers, otherwise one would think this was the Bada Bing. But I'm sure there were huge developments and reveals and news out of this thing, and I think we should start covering it pronto. So, so, so not NSFW (stupid double negative), even though there is no nudity (well, there's a bodypainted Far Cry leopard girl at the link, not in our gallery. But you can't really tell.) Also, I'm using the pro-tip for caching pages suggested by reader Tom back during the Kezins Cosplay Cleavage Debacle. Not only that, it's referencing a Google-translated page. So hopefully we won't overwhelm some poor Russkie's bandwidth and we can all enjoy these images safely. The full gallery of 24 images is on the jump. UPDATE: There's also a link to 140 more images, courtesy of the original blogger.

<![CDATA[Booth Companion Showcase: EA Does More Harm Than Good]]> We're sure the EA booth companions at Tokyo Game Show had great personalities. Lovely girls, the kind you could take home to mother. But those outfits! Unless they were designed by John Madden himself, the horrible pastiche of red, green, yellow, cyan and camouflage is inexcusable. It looked like Piet Mondrian had puked on a gaggle of aspiring Japanese models wearing potato sacks. This is not how a multi-billion dollar publisher should attempt to lure TGS attendees into playing Mirror's Edge. Tsk tsk.

<![CDATA[Booth Companion Showcase: Tecmo Stays Classy, Trashy]]> The booth companion costume designers at Tecmo haven't deviated too far from the norm for Tokyo Game Show 2008. Heels, short shorts and tube tops are being worn in spades at TGS, with a handful of exhibitors (Sony, for one) keeping it a bit classier on the total amount of less flesh revealed. Tecmo went for the industry standard "nearly naked" look, opting for an extra, gossamer thin layer of tacky, shimmering polyester negligee.

Tecmo was surprisingly protective of its booth companions, asking that we refrain from snapping some of the girls. Booth reps didn't ask, so much as they threw up big "X" arms in our faces. Serious business.

<![CDATA[Microsoft's Booth Companions Bid Adieu to You]]> Every evening, as the show winds up, the women of Tokyo Game Show line up to form a vast wall of companionship in front of their respective booth to say goodbye to those who stuck around to the bitter end of the day's proceedings. It's kind of a neat custom. Also, it makes for great photos and such.

<![CDATA[Aion Booth Babe Feeling Blue]]> About ten years ago my mother ran a dancing school summer camp with themes based on Disney movies, and each year around Aladdin time I would get the dreaded call..."Michael? We need a genie." I would then be dressed up by my mother and sister, painted blue, and sat down in a room full of little girls who were convinced I was an otherworldly spirit. Perhaps this is why the blue girl in this team of booth babes representing NCSoft's Aion: The Tower of Eternity wouldn't stop looking at me. There's a special sort of bond that forms between people that have been blue in public for entertainment's sake.

That didn't come out right.

<![CDATA[Age Of Conan Does Booth Babes Right]]> Here is an excellent example of the classic booth babe, taken in front of the Eidos Age of Conan exhibit here at GC. Two women, both dressed in outfits that directly mirror outfits worn in the video game they represent. Nothing too racy, nothing unnecessary - they are representing Age of Conan, and just happen to be attractive enough to draw the average eye towards the booth. Personally? I walked past them three times before noticing them, because they are nowhere near as good-looking as my girlfriend, who reads what I write here almost religiously.

Having covered that ass, hit the jump for a closer shot of the ladies of Hyboria.

<![CDATA[Ghostbusters: The Video Game Does Booth Babes Right]]>
Ghostbusters: The Video Game looks fantastic. Each time we've walked past the multiple kiosks showcasing the game at Comic-Con this year, we think "Must remember to play that at some point." What Sierra clearly understands, though, is how to appeal to Ghostbusters fans. Shorten the pants, expose some cleavage, then fill out the skimpy Ghostbuster uniform with women who look pretty for a living. We'll take one of whatever they're selling.

<![CDATA[Ladies And Gentlemen, We Have Booth Babes]]> They said it was over, but you can't keep a good booth babe down. These two lovely red-haired ladies are representing accessory manufacturer Nyko, the company that stands for tank-tops and hot pants...at least that's all I saw as I entered their meeting room to catch a few snapshots. The one on the right? At least six feet tall. It was daunting, even for me at 6'6". I captured this image and a full body shot you can find after the jump before I found myself becoming the real reason the end of the E3 booth babes had to happen - sweaty, nervous menfolk.

Somehow I don't think that's their natural hair color.

<![CDATA[Tender Booth Babe Moment (Exhaustion)]]> Getting ogled by a gaggle of camera-toting press and fanboys—some of whom are super creepy—isn't the easiest job in the world. This model apparently got a little overwhelmed and needed a time out. We're feeling the same way, minus the gross pseudo-stalking aspect.

<![CDATA[Booth Babes Return... With a Vengeance]]>

That's it. The show's a wrap. As we walked from the convention hall (actually we were repeatedly asked to leave until, finally, two security guards hovered over for us politely waiting until we obliged them) the trash was being swept into big piles in the corners and the booth babes were streaming through the exits, their no-neck, slabs-of-meat boyfriends in tow.

<![CDATA[Tender Booth Babe Moment (Babies)]]> True story. We were witness to the dark side of being employed as a booth babe when one German flesh worker broke down sobbing in one of the temporarily constructed business booths after hours. After holding in the tears after an all day (we assume) grope session and series of harsh evaluations of her figure by German gamers, she'd had enough. While we worked, the soft sounds of weeping continued to penetrate the thin plastic walls of whatever pissant European hardware manufacturer was paying her her daily pittance.

Fortunately, we captured some more tender booth babe moments, such as this young lady's interaction with one of the littlest Games Convention attendees.

Deep in conversation, this elfen model for Samsung turned the tables with her own chance to play some grabass, this time with a spritely, tow-headed kid who knows nothing of sexually objectifying women paid to stand near things in midriff baring get ups.

Near the end of it, however, we got a little more depressed. As she reluctantly released the adorable Crocs-wearing kid from her pseudo-mothering grip, it was clear baby lust was in her eyes. I expect she and her boyfriend talked less about Games Convention that night and more about when he was willing to get her pregnant. Poor guy.

<![CDATA[Booth Babes Revenge: Nowhere To Hide]]>

Friday was a bit of a lull, sure it was busier than Thursday, but still not the epic, soul-crushing crowds of today. Not only have the number of attendees increases exponentially, but so have the number of booth babes. Funny how that works. It seems like the naked, but painted Booth Babe is very popular in Germany.
