@Yossarian: Would it work for the better for M$ though? If gold subscription was to double, I would simply just move onto PS3 and play online there. Sure I will miss out on some of the 360 exclusives, but I would rather do that than to pay double. And I am sure I am not alone on this.
Of course, in some warped world where M$ dominates the market, they would probably pull that trick(yes, they want money, surprise), but in the real world, doing that would probably just convert a whole lot of people to PS3 or back to PC, I would say. So, IMO, I think it's highly unlikely that M$ would double the price of gold. #bonusround
@NekoCake: See, I thought MS was planning on eventually bringing the cost of the service down to zero as the revenue gets replaced by micro-transactions and marketplace sales.
I didn't think there would be any way they could *increase* the cost, especially with the PS3 finally starting to make a sales splash.
That's why I was hoping McWhertor knew a little more about what Pachter said. Pachter is, after all, the supposed market expert, so you'd think he'd know a little about stuff like this... #bonusround
@Yossarian: I dont see how this can possible happen. I have the next 3 yrs paid off already, how will they charge me more for an already paid subscription? #bonusround
Looks interesting. Borderlands has been totally under my radar and might pick it up if its coming out for PC. Hopefully its a lot better than STALKER which I found disappointing. I'd love to try these DLC's for GTA but I have a ps3 :p I really liked how that one suit guy mentioned that MS is ultimately responsible for not wanting to port its games to PC because it forces players interested in an IP to buy a 360....damn
@anduin1: From what I've read and seen in Video Previews and Reviews... it's NOTHING like STALKER. STALKER was a very rigid and technical game in terms of controls and progression, at least that was my take on it (I bought it when it came out, and have tried it after each update since).
Borderlands on the otherhand, looks a lot smoother in movement and combat, and considering its made in the Unreal Engine, you can probably expect something between the range of Rainbow Six Vegas games and UT3... though I'm staying somewhat optimistic and hoping it handles better than both (at least for the console [PS3] version -- PC has a more room for custom controls).
IGN has a Video Review of it for the 360 Version on their site. Check it out if you want to see it in action. Compare their review to Kotaku's for an average understanding on what to expect (each site had a slightly different take on some of the aspects of the game). #bonusround
@henhowc: Nope, Run chrome, so no ad-blocker. and its not to do with the KFC Ad's, it all worked fine last week.
It opens n starts buffering the clip, but the nub won't start playing, just says "loading" in the middle of the screen. Hasn't fixed itself since yesterday.
@deanbmmv: Weird. That's exactly what I see when I have ad block enabled. Does it work in IE or Firefox? Do other videos work? As a side note, in the past I've had issues with Gametrailers and it turned out to be ISP related.
@Cookie: Yeah, seriously. I run on Chrone which as all the banners and ads and playing the videos with ads all over the place makes them choppy as hell if certain ads are on display. Really annoying.
It looks like the video won't play at all if the pop-up commercial is unable to play, whether it's blocked by Adblock or something else. Pretty sleazy, but then again ad revenue is the only thing keeping most websites like GameTrailers afloat.
What is Fall's biggest game? Grenade of Grenade: Modern Sniper 2? Dude Raider: Among Gears? Jack Black Presents: Underrated Cult Classic That Manages To Be Overrated At The Same Time? How about ViralMarketingLands? Maybe TekkenOurSweetTimeToReleaseOnA...?
@BubbleF**kingBuddy: actually if you havent heard,m grenades are toned down a bunch in this newone. no more triple frag, new things to replace the grenade option. etc.
Wow- really amazing comment from Pachter there when he said that Microsoft's competition isn't Sony, but Apple. Never thought about it like that before.
Also, guys, please, stop calling it a magic wand. :p That term has been utterly spoiled.
Its been done but people arn't really talking about it.
I actually have this game:
http://www.wilddivine.com/
It uses vitality sensors and you control in game objects by adjusting your pulse. Its kinda neat, but really hard to slow your pulse/increase it without jumping up and down or falling asleep.
@ShadowOdin isn't american: It's more his Editor in Chief. The biggest problem with his "hype" is that your heart rate isn't something that you consciously control (imagine people "forgetting" to breathe, sweat...).
Besides, the human body isn't really built to speed up and slow down in short, quick bursts without consequences, the most extreme consequence being cardiac arrest.
I'm betting Sony will surprise us all and release a console bundled with the Eye Toy and wand controller and a game that uses the wand controller for 400 bucks, mind you I'm betting by then as its speculated there will be a PS3 price drop. But also there will probably be no dual shock 3 or six axis controller bundled with the eye toy/wand controller bundle.
Or they'll just start bundling PS3 with an eyetoy a Dualshock 3 and a blu-ray instead of bundling them with a game, to get people halfway there, or a third rather.
@fanboyps3: I am glad you're saying it is just a guess, for while I too, as a PS3 owner, wishes that Sony was a magical wondercompany that did everything right, they are pretty notorious with not packing anything in the box that doesn't need to be there.
As stated in the video, it will most likely go the way of the regular eyetoy, mic, buzz-controllers or one of the other peripherals that Sony has released, and just be a side-thing, which will ultimately lead to them being last in the motion-control race, seeing as Microsoft is a lot more likely to include Natal directly in the box.
Sony, in their endless lack of wisdom, will most likely release a wand or two in a standalone box, probably with a camera too, and then yet another box which will also include some sort of mini-game collection thinking that their casual-audience will be sure to pick it up, just like they did with the eyetoy, mic and buzz-controllers.
Which in turn will only show their lack on insight, since those people already have a Wii, and won't be interested in a second, more expensive one.
Unless they managed to get magical insight that would allow them to see that their previous business-model won't work with the wands.
But I somehow doubt that.
Can also guarantee that there won't be a console-bundle with the wands but no controller, since this is not an interface-device like Natal and the Wii-Mote.

Paraphrasing, he said that he expect the cost of XBox Live gold to increase dramatically in the near future.
Did you follow up on this with him perchance, or know anything else about this prediction of his? #bonusround
