They allege that there were a raft of lawsuits behind the sackings, which stem from Blue Omega being "taken off" their own game by Codemasters, as well as a dipsute between Blue Omega and two subcontracting studios, one of which stands accused of having continued work on Blue Omega's title even after Blue Omega had been stood down, and the other of having performed shoddy work.

In addition to those messy behind-the-scenes affairs, the former employees also stated that poor sales of Damnation were a contributing factor.

<![CDATA[Taking Damnation To The Next Level]]> Building the vertical-oriented worlds found in Blue Omega's Damnation takes a great deal more effort than simply plotting out points on graph paper.

Damnation's lead game designer Jacob Minkoff walks us through the process of creating the expansive, realistic spaces found in the Western steampunk shooter Damnation. They use a completely different method for mapping out levels from your more traditional shooters, working directly from the concept art in order to develop pathways, putting the gameplay into the art itself.

Damnation drops next month for the Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 3. Check out the gallery below for some bigger shots of the gorgeous concept art.

<![CDATA[Damnation Trailer Urges You To Stay Calm]]>
Here's the first trailer and some new screens from Damnation, Blue Omega's vertical acrobatic steampunk shooter I gushed fairly strongly about after playing at E3 last month. The video doesn't do the game justice, an issue I am afraid is going to continue until some sort of public demo is released. You have to touch it to really feel it.

<![CDATA[Damnation Is A "Vertical" Steampunk Shooter]]> Codemasters have announced development of Damnation, a Steampunk-themed shooter set during an alternate-history version of the US Civil War. Currently in development at Blue Omega (who came second with the project in 2005's Unreal Mod tourney), the game will feature a "post-industrial conflict between humanity and an unstoppable arms dealer", and is described as a "shooter gone vertical" (screens show a lot of urban fighting between tall buildings). It's due on 360, PS3 and PC at the end of the year. And...that's about all we know, so until we know something more, check out the screens below.
